Booked an electrician over a week ago…
Booked an electrician over a week ago to hook up a cooker. Was advised with an hours notice that he couldn't make the appointment. Rebooked, and same things happened again. I was then advised they don't have an engineer in my area that can do the work. No cooking for me this Christmas! Steer well clear.
Absolute scam..
Absolute scam... Rang up asking then to quote a price to install 2 lights. They told me it should take less than an hour. The electrician then told me within 20 seconds of walking through the door the job would take 4 hours minimum and would likely cost upwards 600 pound!!!
I cancelled without the electrician even taking his tool box out of the van.
They then tried to charge me a £100 cancellation fee as per the advisors feedback "the people on the phone are not qualified to give quotes and wouldn't know how long a job might take"the advisor was rude, told me she had no manager on site and then dropped the line.
I will be taking this further.
aranged an engineer to come to site for…
aranged an engineer to come to site for a visit before 12 am d called said he wouldnt be there till 5 then said will not make tomo shambles of a company and looking at the comments its not unusual avoid at all costs
I sadly had not seen any of these…
I sadly had not seen any of these reviews before contact with what I thought was an electrians company. I had a someone turn up. They were asked from the first phone call to fit two garden power sockets to existing armoured cable providing power to my sheds. He took photos of bits? Then repeatedly sent them to someone else. He worried the hell out of two pensioners talking about ripping our floors up, ripping up our brand new monoblock in the garden. No work undertaken, no estimate etc. Now I find £150 drawn off my MasterCard. I will stop that on Monday. Do not use this service.
In fairness, job done
I called them on a Saturday lunchtime and they promised to come that afternoon. Nobody showed up and they rang back and said they couldn’t find anyone to send. They couldn’t do Sunday so we had to wait until Monday afternoon. The electrician did arrive and in fairness was pleasant and did a quick clean job. I paid a hefty premium for their service BUT I couldn’t get any local electrician to come for 6-8 weeks. They did what what we agreed and they applied a discount for being late. I blocked my card straight after paying, having read the previous reviews.
SCAM. SAVE YOUR MONEY.
SCAM. DON'T USE. Call a local electrician up directly and save your money. Calling this company to make an appointment was quick and easy, but they request your card details before the job is even done, so that you can't back out of paying when they've done a pointless/ no job. An electrian came out to resolve my oven issue that kept tripping the fuse box. He spent 45 mins taking 3 screws out of my oven, couldn't get the 4th one out because he had an insufficient drill bit. Then came to the conclusion that I needed a new oven without even testing the plug/ wires/ fuse box/ circuit board or filament and still wanted to charge to me £145+VAT. What a joke, I could have done that myself without any electrical expertise. Would never use again and certainly wouldn't recommend. The call out charge is ridiculous when they didn't even resolve anything.
I've read up on a lot of review sites about this company being on Rogue Traders (watch the YouTube video called "Rogue Traders - Emergency Response Group based in Southend, Essex (2018)") and scamming lots of people with extortionate charges and how they work: How the scam works:
_________________
They advertise under Google adwords so as to get a top position on the Google search page to pretend to be a company local in your area.
___________________________________
They then use various phone numbers to confuse the customers..
___________________________________
0800 numbers that redirect to somewhere else including ther landline numbers that when answered claim to be nothing to do with the company.

They target people looking for electricians and plumbers, locksmiths, glaziers and pest control. All the services where they can charge an extortionate call out fee and hourly rate....
Charged £150 for 5 mins
I want to reinstate other comments on here. It was not made very clear when I booked the service on the phone that it was going to be £150 just for the electrician to arrive, the electrcian was only at mine for max 5 minutes. I kept asking what the bill was going to be but everytime i asked they couldn't tell me. There was no transparency at all with what I was going to be charged. Then without a receipt/invoice or warning, my account was down by £150. Feel like I've been robbed. Avoid these people at all costs.
DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY AT ALL
Since 30th of September they passed me one by one to each other and until now which is 2nd of October ERG electricians costing me £2000 to pay and they didn’t respond to my inquiries. Please do not trust them and do not waste your money and time.
Absolute Rob Dogs
Rang this company who took my card details in advance, I explained on the phone what needed doing exactly at the rental property. Electrician was there for 10 minutes and I was quoted £660 for four hours in total to fit three new plug sockets and three light switches as well as replacing an extractor fan. I was already caught out by the first hour being £150 but I told them not bother doing the work. A local electrician did it all in an hour for £169. Absolute daylight robbery stating this work would take four hours. I rang local electricians who confirmed this was a 1.5hr job maximum.
I can’t believe this company is allowed to rip people off like this I’m infuriated.
Like a Zombie I gave my long card…
Like a Zombie I gave my long card number and 3 digit code plus expiry date when told I had to pay £125+VAT for them to send an electrician round to do the job of a trip that was being thrown. What they don't say is that's not the money for the job, that's their fee for getting someone round to you. When the man came he looked a bit sheepish and said they were just rip off merchants basically and I would pay a fortune. He found a faulty plug, put a sticker on it and left. I signed nothing, nor knew who he was. I think he took pity on me. I suddenly remembered by bank details so called the Bank NatWest who were great and put me through to Fraud team who cancelled my card. They did say I was very foolish to give my card payment details upfront but they are so slick you act before you know what you're doing. DO NOT DO IT!! Your bill will be astronomical!!
Please don't fall for this scam!
My mother was recently ripped off to the tune of £150 by this company. They took her debit card details to secure her booking.
When the electrician arrived, he said that he couldn't give a price himself and "tried" to call the office to get a price. He also said he wouldn't be able to carry out the works immediately (it was just a basic job, so an odd thing for him not to be prepared for.) When Head Office didn't answer after a few tries, he said he'd get the office to call her back with a price.
An hour later she had a call from the office saying that because she had cancelled the booking, she would be charged £150. When she tried to explain, the woman on the phone was completely dis-interested. In my opinion they never have the intention of carrying out the work.
