Booked these as couldn't get the house…
Booked these as couldn't get the house alarm off. Was told it would be £165 per hour but forgot to tell me to add vat on.
Engineer turned up disconnected the alarm and left.
Ended up paying £198 for literally minutes.
Engineer was nice and did what we wanted, however complete rip off, would never recommend this company!!
£150 charge as soon as they step onto…
£150 charge as soon as they step onto your property, the job ended up far too expensive because of regulation and was explained in 2 mins of him being there, the guy was there for 5 mins maximum, I explained this on the phone to a manager and he was rude, interrupted me and wouldn’t let me explain, didn’t call me back as promised and cost £150 labour (for turning up and doing nothing) - I wouldn’t book this company again
Did not turn up but were happy to take my card details
Did not turn up at all. 8- 11 time slot, phoned and I was put on hold and was told theyd tried putting me through to the electrician on the job and couldn't get through. So they couldn't contact him, he didn't turn up after 11 past the agreed time booked either. I had to phone a different electrician. They have my card details, asked for them before the booking, after seeing the terrible reviews on here I'll be beyond fuming if ERG try and take any payments they are not owed, I will take action with my bank and solicitor if needed. Their electrician never arrived! Also I asked what the prices were by the hour and the man on the phone dodged answering that.
It was an emergency due to a home move so it caused me extra stress sorting out other arrangements! Instead of the £150 an hour fee I found out they charged I got a regular electrician to sort the work for £60 within 2 hours
I'd not use this company again. Stressful
Extortionate charges ERG electrics beware
Extortionate charges nothing wrong with the work of the electrician.£150 per hour. They don’t tell you the rate per hour just there is no call out charge. They were told what was wrong with my shower did not pass to electrician. He was here about 10 mins confirmed my diagnosis went out to get a new switch was abou 15 mins then back Because he had to go get another switch they then call that another hour. Time taken all in less than an hour but charged for two hours that’s how they get away with no call out fee. use someone else. I will never use them again £31& for less than an hour on site and diagnosis£15 for the part
People should not use this company at…
People should not use this company at all it has been exposed on watchdog bbc1 as a scam. They source engineers ect out of a yellow pages and charge customers extortionate amounts. Stop using this company straight away!
Avoid using ERG Electricals - exorbitant cost and poor service
If I could give 0 stars I would. Exorbitant price and a service from an electrician who clearly didn't care that much. I paid £145 for 30 minutes work (You have to pay the full hour = VAT + was charged £25 for a cheap white switch.Comes to £200 overall.
The job - fixing a faulty switch and fitting a new induction hob.
Staggering cost
When I complained customer care didn't care and wouldn't even take off the price of the switch as a small gesture of goodwill. What a terrible company and terrible attitude - Avoid
Update on my review, bunch of scammers
Just to add to my earlier review, this Company is continuing to harrass us for money, for a job they did not turn up for. This has been going on for weeks now, started with texting us asking for payment and now we have received an invoice for £174.00 pounds, for an electrical check on our house, funny how they did this, without turning up, without even entering the house, and that was not even the job we asked for, someone is telling porkies. Was the electrician invisible I wonder? According to his report he checked all our electrics and all was in working order, they are having a laugh. Looks like we will have to involve a solicitor if they continue to harrass us for a job they did not do.
Just fallen foul of this Company
Just fallen foul of this Company. What can I say except just read all the reviews and that is my story too. DON'T USE AND CERTAINLY DON'T DO WHAT I STUPIDLY DID AND GIVE BANK DETAILS
I rang my bank to ask advice and they said they would cancel my card as lost and send me a new one so that no funds could be taken.
DONT USE - SCAMMERS
We called them out and they did not solve anything, but make the issue worse. The worst is that they tried to deduct an amount of £630 from our account without even telling us about it! They told us aboit the extortionate rate of £118 + Vat for a call out fee, but not the former. Flags shouldve been raised when they asked for our account details at the beginning of the call. Will get our solicitor involved if they continue to persue.
Rubbish company
Rubbish company. They claim to provide a 24 hour emergency service. Perhaps what they mean is 24 hours to show up - it nearly took that long. And with absolutely no communication. Every time I called (maybe half a dozen times) I got another time that the electrician was due, with no sign of an apology. Discourteous and unprofessional. When the electrician did finally arrive he was actually pretty good. He told me that they weren't at all busy, the opposite of what I'd been told on the phone. AVOID AT ALL COSTS (which are ridiculous - approx. £180 per hour).
Paid £150 - for nothing.
I found the number for this company on Yell.com, where they seem to purport to be a local company (I have since found out they are based in Southend; I live in Cornwall). I explained on the phone to two different people the electrical job that i required but they clearly had little understanding of what was necessary.
Two electricians (who to be fair were very helpful) arrived the following day and advised that the simple install of a switch that I had described I detail on the phone wasn’t possible and that a fairly major fitting of a whole new circuit was required and that I would be better off contacting a local firm of electricians. The electricians that called made a fifty mile round trip, so were hardly local to me.
Despite ERG’s website stating there is no call out charge, I was charged £150 for an hour’s work, even though they were only present for 10 minutes or so and carried out no work, so I would class that as a call out charge.
I wouldn’t consider ERG again unless it was an absolute emergency and a quick job. Although they seem able to provide a prompt service, their charges are very high as clearly the customer is paying a substantial sum for them to act as intermediaries, as well as paying for the tradesmen who actually attend to carry out any work.
DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES USE…
DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES USE THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE DIABOLICAL. AVOID AVOID AVOID. THEY SHOULD BE PROSECUTED UNDER THE TRADE DISCRIPTION ACT. DO NOT CONTACT YOU WHEN THEY PROMISE THAT THEY WILL. DO NOT SHOW UP WHEN THEY PROMISE THAT THEY WILL. THEY CANNOT CONTACT THEIR OWN ENGINEERS WHO BY THE WAY ARE RUDE AND INDIFFERENT. ABSOLUTELY USELESS
Take money they're not supposed to from you card - be careful
Used Electrician via them, Electrician was Excellent. They then added materials to the bill at £70+VAT, they then spoke to electricians who agreed with me, they promised a refund then nothing, had to have my bank intervene,
NOT TO BE TRUSTED, LOOK ELSEWHERE !!!!
Pleased
We had an electrician come around to fit two new led mains lights. Arrived on time, got on with his work, and also a very pleasant person. Very happy with the job he did for us. His name is Allen Stoddard. If we needed an electrician again we shall ask for him.
Dont USE this company paid an upfront…
Dont USE this company paid an upfront cost was desperate to get power on with it being a fast food chain engineer turned up late switched the fuse box on twice got power back DIDNT do any checks whatsoever we lost power an hour later and refused to pay back £273.00 WHEN i insisted on speaking to customer services BUNCH OF COW BOYS
What a waste of time!
What a hopeless set-up.
The system is rubbish and they WILL let you down.
Cancelled on me twice. Not Good!
Absolutely terrible service
Absolutely terrible service. Engineer promised to turn up by 1pm - ended up turning up for 5 mins at 9pm saying it could be fixed. He promised to return and we have had 3 No Shows. I am currently trying to get my money back. never ever use this company - we were desperate but really wish I had have read the reviews before calling.
Absolutely appalling service
Absolutely appalling service, booked an Electrical Safety Inspection on a Holiday Chalet in Bridlington and was given a time slot of 11am to 12pm, drove for two hours from my home in Halifax to meet the engineer only to receive a call at 10.45 telling me that they were cancelling the visit because "the engineer isn't working today" wouldn't touch them with a bargepole.
Absolutely appalling service
Absolutely appalling service. I called ERG and, foolishly, paid their upfront charge. I was promised that an electrician would attend by no later than 1 pm on the day that I called. In fact, he did not call until 19.30. He said that the particular problem required a part. He would call the next day to deal with the matter. Nothing happened the next day. I chased the day after and the day after that and eventually rang, three days after the original attendance, to make the point that I wished to cancel and wanted my money back. I was told I would could not have my money back, even though the job had not been done. I then wrote insisting on repayment and threatening court proceedings. Nothing happened. I wrote a further reminder. I will now commence proceedings in the Small Claims Court for return of my money and for loss and damage I have suffered.
UNRELIABLE - NO SHOW FIVE TIMES
Engineer did not arrive for the FIFTH time, they said that they had the wrong address and the next few times after I called them they said the engineer was not going to make it. If you have a real emergency I would NOT RELY ON THIS COMPANY. If they cannot write down your address and do not bother telling you that they are not going to show up, do you trust them with your electrics?
Avoid, there are better options.
