Buyer beware.
I purchased a pair of 5th generation hearing aids earlier this year but unfortunately they only made things louder, not clearer, so I emailed the company to request a return and refund.
That's when things got nasty! They refused to provide their return address and threatened me with extra costs and prosecution if I said anything bad about them, or insisted on going to mediation.
I had paid with my debit card instead of my credit card, so I couldn't claim my money back using section 75, but I found out there is a scheme called Charge Back, so I got in touch with my bank and made a successful claim that way.
I would strongly recommend not buying from this company because of the threats and refusal to provide a return address.
Hearing aids
We purchased es hearing aids SMART 4th Generation earlier this year.
They have been a godsend, easy to use and made a huge improvement to my hearing.
Would definitely recommend them.
Very easy to understand
Order arrived very promptly and the instructions were very easy to understand, my Mother-in-law not the best with technology, was soon up and running.

I have been pleased with these hearing aids and have received help from the company when one failed and have been offered a replacement. I like the fact that they can be re charged very easily. No problems with fitting.
I bought a pair of 5th generation aids
I bought a pair of 5th generation aids. The service I received was impeccable. When I had a problem with one of the aids it was replaced quickly and efficiently. I have been using them for a couple of months now and I find them comfortable and easy to use.
AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS - IGNORE THE GOOD REVIEWS
What an absolute disgrace this company is. Ordered hearing aids back in July - luckily paid using Paypal - aids arrived but husband tried all ways to get them to fit and be comfortable. He decided to send them back but communicating with them is a nightmare. First of all they send you hints on how to get the best out of the aids then when you still want to return them and a get a refund they start to get nasty. Wrote several letters but even the recorded delivery ones were returned UNOPENED because they refused to accept them. Thanks to a TV programme we contacted Paypal and a lovely lady has organised a refund to my husband.
Saved the dsy!!
Not only was I very happy about the actual appliances, when I had some misfortune, ES came to the rescue immediately.
Thanks folks

The hearing aids I purchased worked better than a expensive pair I bought I would definitely recommend eshearing very good aftersales service
Excellent customer service.
Brought a pair a few months ago , excellent product.i never realised how noisy the world was when i had an issue with the left side after a quick email chat they are sending out a replacement. That's great customer service.
AVOID AVOID AVOID I agree with all of the negative…
I agree with all of the negative comments regarding this company. I too was sent a heavy handed response threatening legal action, despite me quoting Consumer Rights Act 2015/ Sale of Goods Act 1974 and 1979. I have reminded them of some of the reviews posted here and sent information from the MSE site. Even if a company says they won't refund, consumer rights prevail unless they refer to it affecting statutory rights. They also suggest informing Trading Standards if you feel there is a problem with the company. A terrible buying experience. Avoid, avoid, avoid.
My issue was that having bought two of the generation4 devices they interfere with each other and constantly squeal. As a hearing aid user of 8 years I'm well aware of how to adjust and wear hearing aids. I'm not sure they are amplifiers and not hearing aids, which would make a difference in the exemption clause. I expect I'll have to contact my credit card provider to take this up.
DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY
DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. My mother bought a pair, too large for her ear canal. Told them within 3 days. They only offered 5th Generation with an extra £90 to pay. I emailed them to request refund and also to point out they are bound by Distance Selling regs. I also stated I found their ‘disclaimer’ to be threatening and bullying. Also their telephone number was not recognised (a mobile number). They have replied again and not addressed any of my comments but have threatened us with their legal team if we continue to pursue a refund. Dodgy company in my opinion. I will not play further email ping pong but will refer to my mother’s credit card to get a refund.
Fantastic for the money
Firstly, I can't understand all the negative reviews in regard to the 30 day warranty: I read it before ordering and it was pretty clear, in that you don't get a refund, basically a voucher.
Regarding their after-sales, I can't praise them enough. After two weeks, the left ear bud came apart.
I emailed them and within 4 days I had a brand new replacement bud.....FREE OF CHARGE.
I had two full-on hearing tests over the space of a year and I was informed that I had 'Severe Hearing Loss'.
In ear aids were anything from £3000 to £6000, depending on how 'posh' you wanted them to be.
When I discovered 'Essential Hearing' did ear buds for £170 a pair, I thought that it was worth a try, even if they turned out to be rubbish.
They arrived very quickly and the difference was immense! I was watching TV on volume number 40, but now I can comfortably watch on 12!!!!!
This alone is worth a small fortune to me and my wife can now watch TV with me in the same room!!!
I also tested them out in an external situation; I struggled to chat with my next door neighbours over the garden wall, but now I can hear them plain as day.
So, that's two situations where they are worth their weight in gold.
As they are not top of the range, noise cancelling doesn't exist, so this can be a nightmare in really noisy places. They are not waterproof or bluetooth enabled. That all costs the money that most of us can't afford to pay. It also makes keys jangling sound like a 'Jailer's keys' in a very echoing bucket!!
I will consider another pair to keep in my van, if these ones continue to impress me. No doubt I will eventually progress onto their better aids, but these are fab for now.
In summary, I would say that for £170 you can't go wrong. Accept that there will be some limitations, or pay the £1000's of pounds to get better ones!!!
Very quick delivery
Very quick delivery. Brilliant and comfortable fit. Excellent after sales service,
4th generation
Bought 4th generation last week. Been using it on and off mostly at night watching tv. No problems at all.
I wish I had seen these reviews before…
I wish I had seen these reviews before I purchased mine as its the sam story. Too large for ear but no refund offered just another pair of behind ears for additional money.
Threats of legal action if bad review given and if taken to their mediator it will cost you more money.
I will continue to pursue until I get a resolution
I will remove this review if I get a refund
I purchased 4th generation aids and…
I purchased 4th generation aids and they really work for me. I have tried BTE aids for ten years but could never get on with them. These in ear aids are affordable and I can honestly say that I can wear them all day without discomfort. My wife loves them even more than me, the TV is at a normal volume once again

Meaningless Guarantee!
Terrible company! Don’t be fooled by the 30 day guarantee, this covers parts only and you will not get your money back if their product is not what you’re looking for. I paid £160 for a set of in-ear hearing aids for my wife and it was obvious from the start that they wouldn’t work for her due to her narrow ear canals. I sent two emails explaining the situation and yes, they answered promptly but only with stupid advise (that any fool would have already tried) and waffle about ‘reaching out’ and ‘rest assured, we’re here to help you make the most of your hearing journey with us’! Anything, it would seem, but do the decent thing and take their product back and issue a refund.
Because I used PayPal to pay for the aids I referred the case to them but after 2/3 weeks they found in ESH’s favour. The reason for this is because PayPal’s disputes questionnaire parameters are too narrow, you have to pick one of their reasons to progress and the nearest choice was ‘not as described’. PayPal found that they were (obviously) as described and completely ignored information that I supplied showing that ESH’s own website (under: ‘questions about ES Hearing? See our answers’ - ‘what are your return, cover and warranty policies?’ section. They clearly state and I quote: ‘IF WE CAN’T HELP YOU TO HEAR BETTER WE ARE HAPPY TO ARRANGE FOR A FULL REFUND’. You let me down PayPal and I’m sure there are others.
My advise to anyone considering dealing with ESH is, if after you’ve read my review (and others before me) and then find that you require a refund…. then you have only your selves to blame.
18/09/23 UPDATE: Since I wrote this (and a 1star review for their website - which they won’t show) they have taken the part about issuing a full refund down from their site. This tells you all that you need to know about this outfit!
