Worst car service ever. Definitely do not use Europcar for your car rental in Greece. They oversell you on insurance, and over charge you for the car with deceitful language about the deposit. Poo... See more

Abbycar, Europcar, a cesspool of lies.

I booked a car with Abbycar on Crete/Chania, which as a reviewer on this site says is the same as Europecar, and in fact when I showed up the Europecar guy said that the Abbycar office was being remodeled and that they had contracted with Europecar to cover in their absense. This was a lie as I never saw an Abbycar office either inside or outside of the small airport on my way from or to the airport. Then the Europecar guys told me that the law had changed and that I needed an "International Drivers Licence". Another lie as 1. I received an email from Abbycar saying that my required docs included a "Full Drivers Licence", and 2. I know from personal experience that the International Drivers License is just a translation of your regular drivers licence and nobody even accepts it no less requires it, and 3. I then turned around and rental from another company in the same airport on the spot. When I concluded the transaction with the other company I asked about the International drivers licence requirement and he said that most likely Europecar didn't have any cars and/or they had reservations at a higher dollar amount and simply didn't want to give me a car. Oh, and Abbycar changed a 25e extra fee for late arrival (10:30PM) even though they in fact didn't have anybody there to meet me. Also had to wait 45 minutes at the airport for the Europcar van to take me to the office that I could have walked to in 10 minutes. Horrible, horrible experience.

Europcar Greece: to be avoided!

In May 2017 we booked two VW combos for a 12 day trip around Greece. A two hour wait, to find two worn out vehicles (40,000 and 70,000 km! km!) , no proper a/c, blocked windows, and the like. The GPS we rented (88$) was malfunctioning. We asked for full reimbursement of that GPS, we got half. A painful experience. Do avoid Europcar Greece!

Europcar - Alamo - National - Abbycar

Be Aware. Europcar, Alamo, National and abbycar are the same company. Check the address! 25 Leoforos Andrea Siggrou. THEY CHANGE NAMES ALL TIME. They try to cover the bad reviews they receive!

I used to book a car (usually for a month) when I have my holidays in Greece. Last time I booked with Europcar (like the last 3 times) at Syngrou Athens. First of all I had to wait for 1!!! hour to be served. They had a chicken customer who was paying CASH!!! for a car (she had though to pay a hefty price for full cover!).

I received a new car 5K on the odometer. Once returned back the car, 28days later, there was a small chip on the front bumper (less than 1cm/picture taken) and I was charged 145euros!!! As always I had a car hire insurance (which fully compensated me already) BUT I wish the insurance company to chase these cowboys. I told the insurance company to check receipts (from an authorized dealer who hasn't got a contact with these cowboys) and claim back these fraudulent costs!!! I will of course prevent everyone from booking from these cowboys. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!

Never Europcar

I booked my car via Cartrawler. A nice new Ford Focus for 3 days in Crete July to 29 July 2016. The car was picked up in Kato Stalo. worse car I have ever seen. Huge damage to paint finish, unwashed not clean inside. After 20 minutes we discovered that the breaking lights was not working and the A/C didn't either. We rang the car rental office and complained. The promised to send a guy to fix the car or hand over a new car.
The guy came hit the break lights a couple of time claming they worked which they didn't. He also "fixed" the A/C he claimed but he was testing it in in the shade. After 10 min of discussion he handed over the "new" car - not a huge improvement but the A/C and break lights was working. However 30 min passed and one of the break lights didn't work and when we tried the back seat belts one of them wasn't working. Not great when you want to be 5 people in the car! At that moment I discovered that the car was not from Europcar but from Europrent. When I returned the car and mentioned this to Europcar they knew this but they were out of cars from Europcar. Strange because the reservation for a Europcar car was confirmed 2 months before.
I have send my claim of a full refund to Europcar Greece but don't expect to hear from them. My advice avoid Europcar when renting a car. 275 EUR down the drain. They don't deliver on there promisses.
