They charged $17 at check-in because I didn't check in online. I had no choice then but to pay it, because they wouldn't give me boarding passes otherwise.
However, I later disputed the charge with my credit card company, and got a refund.
Bad on flight service, only water, no soda, 10 hour flight.
The attendants never came once to collect garbage. When I asked for a garbage bag to clean up some of the mess my baby made, as you can expect on a 10 hour flight, (food snack bags cups etc.) they gave me a small bag which is meant in case you need to vomit. I guess they just can't afford garbage bags. Or maybe in Ukraine that's the style.

At check-in in Copenhagen they had no connection to their system so I could not fly. Said I had to becuase I had paid. At least he got me a seat. But no guarantee that my suitcase was on the same plane. Had to go Udon Thani and further.
UIA says you are automaticly checked in 12 hours before departure if you dont do yourself. They will send you email. No check-in and no email.
Tickets from before 1 nov. 2018 has 5 kilos of cabin luggage - their own homepage. At the airport they said 7 kilos.
UIA send change of time table 5.06 pm where the plane should leave from Kiev to Bangkok at 8.10 pm. At that time I was in Kiev airport with no internet acces!
The food on board is bad quality. What they call "hot meal" is not worth eating.
Cheap. Nope. £ 780 is not cheap. Service close to none in everything here.
Unfortunately we have one more trip whith them but than its over for good.

This company wants you to pay $80 dollars extra to print your ticket even if you already have a booking E-ticket. That is a rip off.
My old mother was flying from Borispol Airport and she arrived 2 hours prior to her flight and they said that she is late to check in because they policy has been changed and the way she could check in on her flight is only pay extra to print the ticket or check herself on online 24 hours prior to the flight. That is so unfair!

Very bad experience, our return tickets got canceled and they told us the flight was canceled when it wasn't. Expensive to call them and change the tickets/ get a refund... Unprofessional staff. Old airplanes, 11 h flight and the seat was broken, it did not recline - we just got a shrug gesture as a reply... when asking for a pillow instead they told us we have to upgrade our tickets to next class to have one. Will never fly with them again.

This airline will give you a great deal on plane ticket but once it is all said and done they charge extremely more than the competitors. 15 euro for a boarding pass and 70 euro for first check-in luggage. Plus they do not post their baggage fees and boarding pass fees. Its all just a big surprise when you check in. While you wait in line to check your luggage and get boarding pass you will see everyone infuriated and will not know why until it’s your turn
Avoid if you can
Quite an average airline. I fly a lot with them, never had a canceled flight.
They never caused us issues with our luggage or baggage.
I did have some rude flight attendant when flying 4 years ago, but it has changed in the past few years, and now they seem nice, smiling and helpful.
But to the less positive notes:
1. They have a flight, PS 783 which takes off from Kharkiv at 21:20. The thing is that for this flight, they use a plane which arrives from a different flight and lands at 20:30. It's quite obvious that this time margin is too low to prepare an airplane from one flight to another. So this flight ALWAYS departs in delay. I actually checked the official stats of that flight in a period of a few months and it's unbelievable. Delayed EVERY SINGLE TIME. Worse than the delay itself, is the fact that it causes them to rush the boarding into the corridor and then letting everyone wait there until the airplane is ready. Old people can stand with their bags for 30 minutes waiting there in that corridor. I am amazed that they are allowed to do it and nobody does anything about it.
2. My worst flight experience was with UIA, in Kiev, near the UIA check-in desks.
Hundreds of passengers gathered in order to check-in and the situation just got out of control. I think UIA were not prepared for that amount due to all the orthodox Jews flying back from Uman. It was chaos, people were late for their flights, the lines pretty much didn't exists, it just turned into one huge pile of people. Everyone just stood on each other, you could barely breath, there was a war to get to the check-in desks and everyone pushed one another to progress a few centimeters.
even when you got close to the desks, It wasn't just you, it was multiple people pushing each other and trying to put their passports on the desk hoping that it's the one passport that the lady at the check-in will pick. I let a few people check-in before me because they were late for their flight. I spent like 1.5 hours in that line. Luckily I arrived very early. I am surprised my laptop did not break with all the people pushing my back. Even the police arrived to try and take control over the situation, with no success.
UIA did nothing to try and solve the situation before it got out of control, absolutely no control over what's going on in their own check-in desks in their home airport. simply pathetic.
3. at some point they decided to start automatically checking in people to their flights,
a few days before the departure. I ordered my ticket and my girlfriend's ticket separately, so our seats turned to be at different rows. I contacted them through their facebook page, but the representative, instead of doing her best to solve the issue, just said something like it's impossible and everyone's already checked in.
Surprisingly, in the check-in desks at the airport, the lady who was caring enough to ask us why we are not sitting together, was able to fix the problem and within a moment gave us tickets with seats next to each other.
I would definitely try and avoid them.
Worst Airline on this earth -5* Rating.
This airline does not even deserve a single star. There is no available option given, hence forced to give it 1 star. I would personally rate them -5* .
I had booked 4 tickets for my family with this airline on Mytrip.com in March 2018 from Athens to New Delhi.
A day before the travel date, on 10th August 2018 I received a single line email that the flight has been cancelled. No reason was given nor was I given any option of some other flight back home. Stuck up in a foreign land I had to cancel this ticket and buy fresh 4 tickets for my family at a very steep price to come back home.
I sent them an email for compensating my loss according to the EU rules mentioned on their website, but they never bothered to reply in spite of many reminders.
This airline has got the worst customer service and hardly cares for its customers.
I would request anybody reading this review to stay away from this fraud airline and do not spoil your travel plans at the last minute. If on a holiday, this airline can spoil your holiday mood and land you up in big financial mess.
The booking site Mytrip.com has also not yet refunded my cancelled ticket money. I have posted their review as well. They are another rogue site working hand in glove with this airline fleecing travellers.
Stay away. Do not be their customer.

After plenty of delay the airline released compensation for only first passenger on the ticket of four passengers.
Airhelp.com has been immensely helpful.
They are still planning to file a suit for remaining 3 passengers.

They might give an information about any passenger of theirs to outsiders. I don't know was it for the bribe, chocolate or good word, but they may tell all the information about your travelling to even a theaf who knows you are away.

I have flown a lot with UIA, because the line I need, has little other direct options.
Their service is always so poor, when it comes to attitude toward passengers, but one event I had, really sticks out.
Events of 15 March 2018 - Flight PS 787 Odessa - Tel Aviv:
UIA collected EXTRA money from 2 passengers for services it did not deliver(!), then RESOLD it again before the flight to other passengers (Made twice profit and never returned the money).
Instead of apologizing and giving a proper service, they treated me as nothing.
This is how it went:
Two weeks before the flight, I bought a ticket, paid extra money for a dedicated seat in exit row with extra space for legs, as I always do, due to back pain when I sit in limited space chairs.
The ticket was prepared and I checked in online before arriving to the airport, with my paid seat mentioned on my boarding pass.
Only when boarding the plane, I discovered that another passenger was put in my designated seat, and the whole row was full. But that is not all. I discovered that it did not happen only to me!
It was discovered, that UIA sold several of those exit seats (that come at extra cost), to twice the people than can actually sit in them...
Confused, I turned to the crew and asked, that due to this situation caused by UIA (which they themselves confirmed in their list) and due to the fact that I'm also a loyal club member of UIA (their "highest" frequent flyer club), that should consider at least offer to a seat with similar extra leg room, somewhere in the airplane. I counted another 10 free seats with extra leg room, after boarding was completed.
The crew refused, saying that they "cannot".
Instead, the crew ordered me to sit in the worst seat possible in the plane: LAST Row of the plane, in the Middle seat, with the back to the toilet wall, so I even cannot retract back the seat for the next 4 hours. and the space was so tight. I made a photo attached here :(
After the flight, I submitted a formal detailed complaint to the to UIA Customer Relations Department. for over 4 months they did attend to it...
Only after sharing this story with the public, they sent a very disappointing response, offering to return only the money paid for the seat.
The have ZERO understanding of customer proper customer facing, after causing aggravation to customers, even loyal ones of their own club.

my flight was at 12.20 I flight with my child from Gatwick airport to Kiev Borispol Ukraine. They sold out my tickets infront of me to somebody else and cancel my flight. Doesn't matter even if a child . Now I am in airport Gatwick .Ukraine doesn't even respond about food vouchers . I am waiting almost more than 10 hours with my child . Of course I will sue this Ukraine company and take my compensation . I never ever choose Ukrainian fly company and I will tell to people they are have to be careful . Because they're haven't any responsibility .
Charged twice for luggage refuse to refund
This is probably one of the worst airlines I've had the misfortune of using.
I paid via link emailed to me for hold luggage and receive an onscreen confirmation. Turn up at the airport and they have no record of this, I am left with no choice but to pay again.
I retained a copy of the receipt issued at the airport for the second payment. Later when the two debits appeared on my bank statement I asked my Ukrainian friend to forward on the evidence.
The airline have basically said I need to write a letter and post it to their Ukraine HQ to explain this, despite already explaining this on email and having them acknowledge the duplicate payment.
They then had the cheek to say they may refund some of the money. Seriously would avoid at all costs, will use WizzAir next time.
