There’s a lot that doesn’t bear thinking about. Thinking can hurt your chances, and I intend to last.
Narrator Offred is a Handmaid serving the Republic of Gilead – formerly part of the United States. Her role is to bear children for her Commander, whose wife is unable to conceive. If Offred refuses, she will be hanged or sent to die of radiation sickness in the Colonies. Yet she can remember a different life, when she had a home, a husband, and – most agonisingly – her own child.

I hear the TV drama has been based on that book, which may be better. Maybe a bit frightening to read. Eventually I gave up! Ha!

A beautiful edition! I wanted to read this but the paperback seemed unworthy. I saw this on Folio’s website and decided to get it for my birthday. A book worth the money. Happy Birthday to me!

This is an excellent edition. The book was packaged well and it opens smoothly, the pages are crisp and the lines are easy on the eyes and to take in. The artwork is very beautiful. It’s a very welcome edition to my library! I got this book during a sale. The price I paid was a good value for the money.
