Great service - shame about the fees

Great service, easy to do online but a £30 fee on a £3.89 named driver change is absolutely disgusting, especially given the reviews on fees and charges by the FCA at the minute and the fact there is people struggling financially!!

DO NOT USE THIS INSURANCE COMPANY!

Absolute Corporate Robbers! I took out insurance with an RAC cover too. As soon as I took the insurance out, suddenly I'm getting emails from a credit company asking me to sign a credit agreement with them, I done this. So, my car gets written off in a Non Fault accident and the credit agreement is cancelled with no additional charges, so you would expect that Hedgehog is the same, No! They tell me there is a £75 cancellation charge, but I'm not intentionally cancelling, OK so I say I will pay it, next email comes, I owe £147.38, it was £75 a few minutes ago. I raised a complaint and now they have answered listing these charges in their answer:

" Premium (06/10/2024 - 27/11/2024): £47.82 • Hedgehog cancellation fee: £75 • Hedgehog new business arrangement fee: £30 • Hedgehog optional extra (RAC breakdown cover): £89 • Covea Insurance cancellation fee + insurance premium tax: £35.84 Total costs = £277.66 You have made the following payments to the policy: • Deposit: £69.40 • Monthly instalments (excluding credit interest and credit fees): £60.88 Total payments = £130.28 The cancellation balance will be the difference of total costs against total payments. By deducting the total payments of £130.28 from the total costs of £277.66 this leaves a balance of £147.38 which you have paid."

I will be making a complaint to the ombudsman and hopefully try to warn others against using them.

Not being able to speak to on agent…

Not being able to speak to on agent during a claim whilst trying to update a new vehicle and discuss it is appalling. Claims team for claim or online Webchat when it's not clearly explained the procedure or how it works is so unhelpful. Never been in this position before to know what to do. Not helpful

Extremely poor service.

I had been a customer of hedgehog for 3 years. They then decided to put my insurance up by over £200. I got much cheaper quotes, but they refused to even budge. So I said I wouldn’t be renewing with them. So they decided to cancel my policy a month early! And refused to give Any money back saying there was a £60 cancellation fee even though they cancelled it. Will never go back to them in the future, no loyalty or value of customers.

I'm new to Hedgehog, all ok so far.
Hope to have a careful, calm year of driving to my classes. Just wish there weren't so many roadworks going on especially cycle lanes. Where are the cyclists, so so few against monies being spent. Mending pot holes would would be better, less damage to my car.

Online insuring car September i thought my car was insured only 2 be told today that my car i have never had for 2 years was insured not mine had to pay another £155.on top of £500 HOW CAN THIS happen.

Avoid Hedgehog

They're not an insurance company they're a broker and absolute rubbish, only operate on line, virtually uncontactable except email or abysmal on line chat bot. Last year premiums suddenly increased by 60% for everybody and they were the cheapest at £700, with Covea policy, double what I previously paid. However checking on line to renew this coming December premiums were lower but strangely Hedgehog popped up on comparison site with a price of £360!!! On contacting why they charged me £700 last year there was no explanation so advised I wouldn't be renewing with them or use them again.
