Great but don't tell you when they are coming

Had some ridiculous quotes for a skip so went with this. I had a rough idea of the week they were coming so took the tarpaulin off and luckily it didn't rain. The guy didn't need any help and just took it straight off the drive. 4-star as I didn't know when they were coming and would have made the guesswork a bit easier.

Please be very careful with HIPPO

Please be very careful with HIPPO. They assure you on the website and when I spoke to someone on the phone that they can collect if a bin lorry can get down your road. This is a lie. They will take any opportunity not to collect your bag and charge you nearly £100 for the process of a wasted journey.

We would like to clarify that we do not advise that a collection can be completed simply because a bin lorry can access a road. Our collection vehicles are significantly larger than standard bin lorries, and access requirements are different. For this reason, collections are assessed based on our vehicle specifications rather than refuse vehicles.

That said, if you were advised either on our website or during a phone call that access would be suitable based on bin lorry access, this is something we take very seriously.

We would ask that you please contact us directly and request to speak with our Customer Service Manager. We are more than happy to listen back to the call, and if this information was given incorrectly, we will happily refund the £84 wasted journey charge.

We genuinely want to resolve this fairly and ensure any incorrect advice is addressed.

Do not use!!

Paid over £300 for a skip bag to be collected from them only for them to turn around and denied the lift! According to the diver the bag was over the weight limit of 1.5 tone! Yet on the bag it’s says use it like a skip! And it’s a skip bag.

I waited all day for them to collect it but I had to chase them up, as they fail to contact me only to find out what happened.

As they denied the lift and their service was poor, I asked them for a full refund as they were not going to take my rubbish. As per agreement! They therefore charged me £84 out of the £300 refund for a waisted journey.. yet they are the ones that denied to take my rubbish. To heavy apparently.

The driver didn’t even get out of his vehicle to investigate the waste nor knock on my door to explain the situation. He Didn’t even try to lift the waste bag… Avoid at all cost or get your a proper skip..

Tell theirs customers to use theirs bags like a skip but can’t put heavy stuff in them. Joke of a place!

Firstly, while our bags are often described as being used “like a skip,” they do have a strict maximum safe lifting weight of 1.5 tonnes. This limit is clearly stated in our Terms & Conditions, on our website, and is printed on supporting documentation with every bag. The weight limit is in place for safety reasons and applies regardless of the type of waste.

On the day of collection, our driver assessed that the bag was over the safe lifting limit. In these situations, drivers are not permitted to attempt a lift, as doing so could cause serious damage or injury.
The decision to refuse the lift is made to protect both people and property and is not taken lightly.
We’re sorry you were not contacted sooner on the day of collection. We understand this added to your frustration, and we acknowledge that communication could have been better in this instance.
Regarding the refund, when a collection is attended but cannot be completed due to access, overfilling, or excess weight, a wasted journey charge of £84 is applied. This charge is outlined in our Terms & Conditions, which are provided with every bag purchase. The charge reflects the cost of sending a specialist vehicle and crew to site, even where a lift cannot safely take place.

As for the driver not exiting the vehicle, drivers are trained to carry out an initial visual assessment from the lorry to determine whether a safe lift is possible. If it is clear that the bag exceeds weight limits, they are instructed not to proceed further.

We’re genuinely sorry that the service did not meet your expectations and that you feel dissatisfied with the value provided.

Your feedback has been noted and will be shared internally to help us improve communication and customer experience moving forward.

I’m sorry I disagree with many of the…

I’m sorry I disagree with many of the positive reviews. I found even their mega bag only about 20% of the size of a mini skip. Ok ok skips are not pretty things to have on your driveway but a hippo bag full of waste sitting there for days on end is not much better.
The company itself is totally disorganised. No notes are kept of your calls with them and promises made, even by the manager of their call centre, were broken. Promises of call backs and “keeping an eye on” the pick up were never kept.
At £264 for a mega bag I’m sorry it’s not good value. You can get a skip for much less.
Tread warily is my opinion.

They have failed to collect our Hippo…

They have failed to collect our Hippo Bag twice now. have had a notification this morning after being promised it would be collected today that it after all will not be. It’s been weeks and this is severely holding my life up as I desperately need my driveway back. Do not use this company if you expect them to collect when promised.

Ongoing mess around just to get it collected

The physical bag is fine, the price was okay. But getting them to collect it, thats the challenge!

5 working days later (the 5 working days they aim to collect) in came and went so I phoned to chase. They said oh dont worry its on the drivers route today ( this was 3pm) but he driver never showed. Called back next working day to be told oh the driver ran out of hours we will reschedule, but not today, we dont have any drivers in the area. What about tomorrow i asked. Oh we couldn't say, we don't know yet.

I live 5 minutes outside a major town, so its not exactly a remote location, they just seem to make claims in the advertising they can't keep.

And my poor neighbours have this eyesore on our driveway blocking everyone for over a week now. It'll be 7 working days and counting.

Just get a skip! At least skip companies collect the rubbish

Great service

From booking the collection over the phone with customer service who told us 5/7 working days to the actual collection which was only 2 days cannot fault the service received. Would not hesitate to keep using this company, never had bad service from them.

Ordered the hippo skip and was able to…

Ordered the hippo skip and was able to fill it.

Completed the information to get it collected and have waited now 7 days for collection.

Contacted to understand why and on both occasions have had poor customer service, stating that it would be collected but it might be a challenge due to it being missed and finding a slot.

I will not use again and would recommend others to not bother.

Disappointing service and experience

Took 4 phone calls and 12 days to finally get a delivery arranged despite the 2-5 day collection promise.
Driver apparently attempted collection but says it was not possible to access. We have had 16 tonne stone lorries using the lane frequently so find that difficult to comprehend. No sensible or fair resolution offered. We found someone else locally

Our collection vehicles are 26‑tonne lorries, which are significantly larger and wider than the 16‑tonne stone lorries you mentioned. Because of this, there are occasions where our drivers must make a safety‑based decision if access is too restricted for a vehicle of that size.

We appreciate that this can be frustrating, especially when other vehicles have been able to use the lane, but our team must follow strict safety and access guidelines to protect both your property and our drivers.

We’re also disappointed to hear that arranging the collection took longer than it should have. That’s not the level of service we aim to provide.

Although we’re sorry we couldn’t complete the collection for you on this occasion, we appreciate your feedback and will use it to help improve our service.

Great service

Great service, quick and straightforward collection - Thank you :)

Only issue was the requirements that specified that the hippo bag needed to be within 5 meters of road. The meant the hippo bag ended up blocking the entrance to our drive so we could not park on our drive.
