the gym is great but the locker room smell is always awful

I like the gym, I like the equipment. I like the amount of free weights and mirrors. My only gripe is through laziness really, but the machines are scattered all over the place. There's no form to how they're placed. A map would be handy for newcomers, instead of looking like a melt on a treasure hunt. I'm glad the first month was only a tenner.

Such a nice environment there. Everyone is super helpful. Plenty of machines and weights and the sauna is my fave after a work out

My first time going to a gym ,would of been nice if there was a member of staff there to help ,didn't see a single member of staff my whole visit ,I had to ring a friend who's a member to drive down and show me what to do,lovely clean gym plenty to do

Massive gym not to busy easy to use

Changing room has a rotten smell every day you walk in. The same unearthly smell will not be continuing on with a membership long term. Absolutely horrific.

Varied equipment and a clean environment. Local and 24 hours access too.

I haven't used a gym in years, and the atmosphere of most gyms I have used previously has been pretty toxic to say the least. The JD Gym in Sunderland by contrast is welcoming and relaxed.

I haven't received a code for the front door and I get anxiety asking people so it's a bit inconvenient sorry for the rating.

Good place to workout clean and good staff

Staff are kind, friendly always willing to help!

It's super clean and has a fabulous vibe from the minute you walk in till the minute you leave.

Initial experience as a newbie entering the gym not very good. There was no greeting even though I quite clearly didn’t have a clue what I was doing or where I was going. I had to approach the staff asking where I could purchase a lock for the lockers I was pointed towards a machine. I had such a carry on with the machine, I was there ages and again no one offered any help. I was nervous going into a new gym as it was and felt like a right tatie! Then I had to ask where the ladies changing rooms were, the man on the desk kindly stopped his chat with the girl on the desk and told me where to go. If I was a retail eye and scores were on the door this experience would be pretty bleak. It’s just sheer will power that’s going to force my return there 🤦🏻‍♀️ Im also a member of another local gym, slightly further afield, and I’ve got to say their approach so far has been much more community feel. I’m so disappointed as I really wanted this to be great! The equipment and decor of the place is lovely though.

I had a good outing with nice facilities, however there's no staff to guide or take me on an induction session for the first day ,considering the best equipment to be used for a particular training to achieve a desired result I wish to get at the end. Another thing,can I use my access together with my partner at the same time?

Awful gym, terrible atmosphere from walking in the doors, dark, dingy and equipment has seen better days, I’ll stick with my usual gym (The Gym Group) - cleaner, cheaper and nice, supportive pts!

It’s a tidy welcoming environment. It feels awkward once you first walk in. But many people help out and give you tips on how to workout properly. It’s an amazing place and 100% worth the price your paying!

JD Gyms is a great place to relax and meditate whilst putting yourself through the paces

The gym is great, lots of equipment to use. Huge problem with this specific gym is the smell that is wrenching from the changing rooms soon as you get near the top of the stairs. Never in my life have I smelt a changing room this bad before. Literal excrement which has been for the 8th day running now. Haven’t seen the staff cleaning or spraying in there once.
