The staff at the Luton branch are friendly enough, but that’s where the positives end. National Windscreens as a company is a total disaster — completely unfit for purpose. The entire organisation desperately needs a top-to-bottom overhaul. Communication is non-existent, systems are broken, and the customer experience is a joke.
Day 1 – 3rd April 2025: Booked in via my insurer. First red flag — the address on both their website and Google Maps was wrong. They’d moved premises and hadn’t updated anything. I wasted 30 minutes driving around in circles. Tried calling — no answer. Turns out they didn’t even have a working phone line at their new site. Still made it to the appointment on time. Was told it would take 4 hours and I’d get a call. I didn’t. Had to contact the national live chat. They promised to find out what was going on — and then vanished. I drove back just before closing. Apparently, they had tried to call me — using the wrong number. Even though they’d received the correct one via live chat. They replaced the windscreen but didn’t recalibrate the sensors because their equipment was incompatible. I’d need to return when they had the right kit.
Day 2 – 4th April: No one called to arrange a follow-up. They just booked me in automatically. Luckily, I managed to get time off work.
Day 7 – 10th April: Took the car back. Was told recalibration would take 30–40 minutes. I waited. Three and a half hours later, they admitted they still couldn’t recalibrate it. And now the sensors were worse than before. Auto lights broken. Dash lit up like a Christmas tree. Their solution? Book it in with Renault — but they would handle it.
Day 28 – 1st May: Nothing. No calls. Tried phoning the branch. No response. Tried the live chat — which doesn’t even work properly on certain browsers. You couldn't make this up.
Day 31 – 4th May: Finally got through to someone via mobile live chat. They said they'd “chase the branch.” Whatever that means.
Day 32 – 5th May: The branch finally called. Hadn’t booked Renault because they were waiting for a company credit card. In 2025. I was told it would arrive soon.
Day 43 – 16th May: They called again. Credit card had arrived. Renault was finally booked for the 27th. The plan: I drop the car off, Renault does the work, contacts National Windscreens for payment, I collect the car.
Day 54 – 27th May: Got up at 6am, drove with my son to Renault for an 8am drop-off. Renault told me it’d be ready by 12 or 1pm. At 9:15, they rang — no payment authorisation from National Windscreens. Work couldn’t start. They suggested I pay the £400 myself. I refused. I spent 90 minutes trying to contact National Windscreens. No answer. No one picks up the phone. Ever. I gave up and walked back in the pouring rain to Renault, planning to take the car and sort it in person.
At 11:30 — finally — Renault got hold of someone. Work approved. But by now the job was already 3.5 hours behind schedule because National Windscreens operates like it's still 1983. I spent the rest of the day soaked and aimlessly walking the area with my son.
At 14:00 I called Renault — work had started. At 16:20 I called again — work done, but they couldn’t reach National Windscreens again to process payment. I walked back to Renault hoping it was sorted. At 17:00, Renault called — they’d left a message. Still no payment. Still chasing. My wife had to collect us. We got home nearly 12 hours after we left.
Day 55 – 28th May: Still nothing. Tried calling. Nothing. Used the live chat again. They couldn't reach anyone either. They’d been told Watford, not Luton, would be paying now. Of course, Watford didn’t answer the phone either.
I took a taxi to Luton at 11:00 to speak to a manager — of course, he wasn’t working. An engineer took my info and said they’d pass it to Watford’s manager.
At around 12:00, Renault finally called. Car had been paid for and was ready to collect. But here’s the kicker — the first payment National Windscreens sent that morning was declined. Renault had to chase again for another card. The staff at Renault — professionals who actually answer phones — were baffled.
This ordeal was a humiliating, exhausting circus from start to finish. Appointments bungled, comms non-existent, phones never answered, jobs left unfinished, sensors wrecked, timelines ignored, and the final fix only happened after I resorted to turning up in person.
I wasted over 20 hours of my own time — including lost work hours — plus fuel, taxi fares, and more stress than I care to describe. All because National Windscreens can't organise a phone call, let alone a repair job.
One star is too generous. Zero stars isn’t low enough. Avoid National Windscreens at all costs.

Prompt helpful service at the Luton location- no problem with the payment facility.
However when I got home I noticed a section of my roof rail was missing- I assume this was dislodged when the old windscreen was removed but as I could not prove that I decided not to follow up with the company

Booked in via my insurance company, wasn’t easy to use but booked in and date confirmed quite quickly but without a time. I was going to check the day before but I had a call to advise the windscreen wasn’t with the branch and rebooked for a couple of days later. All good on the day, but when I picked it up my car the gentleman doing this advised my ‘upgrade’ wasn’t available so hadn’t been fitted. I hadn’t booked an upgrade so asked what this was, advised windscreen wipers. Even though they hadn’t fitted them they had invoiced me for them, but advised to call and let them know and just pay my excess. The number given was an automated payment line, so hadn’t to wait for the invoice email to then be able to call. Spoke to a lady who was very helpful, just paid for my excess and advised that the branch would remove the upgrade cost. Two days later I received a non payment email for the upgrade and advised to pay this now. So called again to a quite rude lady, but after a lengthy conversation I was advised the branch can’t remove it but she would get credit control to remove it. Very frustrating when I hadn’t even asked for this. So just be wary with this company when getting your windscreen replaced as they seem to add this on without asking!

You asked me for a rating so here it is.
You haven’t fixed my windscreen you didn’t turn up and told me to come to the shop instead which I am unable to do.
I have tried calling, emailing, texting etc but what do I get nothing!!! Except an invoice for the job you haven’t done!!!
Are you nuts asking me for a review

The service was excellent -
Did not have to wait for long before we were attended to.

The reason you lost a star was because of the difficulty in paying, the service was excellent. As requested I rang the payment number given & it either rang out or got disconnected. I the asked them to contact me to allow me to pay & no one ever did. I then again was requested to pay & managed with no problem in the same number I had previously. Presume there was a fault in the line or something.
