I had three very bad behaved frenchies and called on Rob for help. One was lead reactive and the other two just followed whatever she did. Indoors they barked constantly and hated people coming into the house not only would they bark and lunge they would nip and become quite fearful to the point we dreaded anyone coming to visit which did become less and less.
Rob showed us that by staying calm we could direct the calmness to them we now have the house barking under control and my friends are now noticing the difference which is great .
I had stopped walking them in public due to the redirected aggression one displayed . I would only take them to private enclosed dog runs for exercise . On the first day Rob had them all walking and responding to commands in the street without a lead. This is something I would never attempt. It showed me that they knew what to do and how to behave but chose not to do so with us. Rob had a slip lead made for grace and this has been helping it is still training in progress but feel that we are finally getting there. I can’t thank him enough

Great experience today with Rob took Zeus round a busy environment to do lead work, really beginning to see the results every session we have, Rob is really knowledgable and a really good help, couldn’t recommend his services enough.

I have nothing but good words to say about Rob at one to one dog training school.

I've just had our first full session and I can honestly not recommend enough. I noticed a change after our initial meet/taster session but today was even better than I could have expected. I have severe health conditions and my husband is often away and our 3 lovely furbabies have completely taken advantage of me and been running a muck so it was time for a change.
We have a 8 year old patterjack who is reactive and tends to do a runner whenever he likes. Today he avoided the other training dogs and came back to me every time instead of going towards the other dogs, this is a massive change.
We have a nearly 5 year old golden retriever who is awful on the lead and pulls something terrible, her recall is also a problem but after today's session she was coming back to me everytime and didn't pull on the lead.
We also have a 18 month old gold retriever (son of our girlie) who is perfect on the lead but can be difficult when he gets distracted, his recall needed some work but during today's session even with a lovely training girlie dog who hebwas interested in he came back to me as soon as I called.

I highly recommend Rob, I'm sure people can be put off by the prices of dog training but this is a much needed investment to have the behaviour you need from your furbabies to ensure you all have a happy life together. I really like the way Rob uses praise instead of treats for training and also how he totally gets that they are my babies and doesn't push for me to not give them all the loves like other trainers have advised.

Our dog pulls on the lead and despite being a small dog he can take us off our feet. Working with One to One dog training has been great for improving on this!

My nearly 3 year old cane corso attacked my son on boxing day immediately we contacted dog trainers all over the north west someone from Robs team arrived at our house the next day, we were skeptical after seeing the reviews of the kennels just like a lot of people on here. So my two sons and daughter in law went to kennels and went to meet Jane, they were very impressed with the facilities and the friendly staff, who were more than happy to help and show us around, my cane corso went to the kennels for 3 weeks we were sent videos and pictures of training and accommodation, kennel staff took good care of him and Jane took him in her personal home during the cold week at the start of January, and set him up in front of the fire to make sure he was warm, with video proof. After the 3 weeks were up the dog came back we were all skeptical but once he settled he came back more matured, grown up but still needed finishing touches with us. Now we have weekly lessons with Rob on how to handle our dog and how the dog should be with us, I'll be honest its a little pricey but you pay for what you get, if Rob and Jane and their kennels are good enough for the crown price of Saudi Arabia's Cane Corso then they are good enough for anyone's dog, proof is on there website. Having a dog is difficult especially a big dog like Cane Corso but trust me Jane, Rob and the team will do amazing job with your dog you can see the passion for dogs in their faces.

Had rob out for initial meeting to see my dog’s overexcitement issues, Rob got a got collar and tugged very hard at her neck, she let out several screams ( my dog is dramatic but she was scared) she did what rob told her to do but she was terrified and it’s not how I want my dog to be, scared of her handler. Charged 150 after yanking her around for ten mins outside. Then sat and showed me good reviews on his phone. Second visit rob kept changing the time, told him I was busy and not to bother ( by this time I’d found a lot of negativity surrounding rob online) I told him I’d found stuff about him online and he still comes to my door anyway and denies all of the stuff written online, says it’s someone trying to bring him down. Sorry but I have enough crap to deal with in my own life and don’t want to be involved in anymore, my MH can’t take it. Couple of weeks later and I notice a page on social media that has a post about rob putting a clients details phone number and postcode, pets name and her issues on his public instagram page, my personal details 😭. I was so bloody angry and blocked the man after this. Had my dog at another trainer and he says she has anxiety, when she heard a video lately with robs voice in it, she recognised him right away. Ears perked up and looking at me like no him again 🫣 put me right back in trusting people and put my dogs training back a few weeks at a crucial stage. Rob only seemed to be interested in taking her away for boarding: training and that is not what I wanted, I wanted balanced training with trust building and boundaries and not dragging and scaring my pup into submission. I also asked a couple of Scottish established dog trainers and was told to stay well clear as they’d not heard good things about Rob.

Though the dog we got from this place was a lovely dog he was not trained at he didn't sit down when told or anything. He also pulled quite a lot and kept jumping up on my daughter biting her. I got the dog to be an assistant dog for my daughter to help her with her mental health but made her feel worse and I ended up walking him and training him but I had to send him back because he was destroying my mental health because he kept bitting me. The guy said he would bring down his documents for the dog but never did he and his wife are just con artists and scammers and when I asked for my money back she tried to give me royal bank of Scotland notes which my bank doesn't except. I felt really bad for sending the dog back because I know they will abuse it like they have with other dogs

Rob is a liar and a conman and i will be seeking legal advice over the comment he posted regarding a member of his staff being attacked. Firstly nobody's dad was there. Your staff point blank refused to give the money back. As for a member of staff it was in fact your partner who turned up in a dirty land rover with part Reg K9. She threatened to call the police as she said dog was yours without refunding so me and partner came out to discuss this as your partner was intimidating him. To cut a long story short your partner never left the vehicle and WAS NOT ATTACKED BY ME OR ANYONE I have all the CCTV to back this up as it was on a public street and the houses have cctv. You've come unstuck now Rob your lies are disgusting and this time you've gone too far. If your staff was attacked the police would have been there wouldn't they but instead you had 3 other dogs in that vehicle 2 of which were in sub standard cages and one unrestrained on the back Seat. The whole car smelled of faeces and Urine and those dogs you had were petrified Make no mistake Rob you will be hearing from my solicitor over this. Don't you dare try and make people feel sorry for you when you know you are a conning lieing lowlife

Wow wow wow this man has given himself a 5 star review on 19th Feb 2025 - for information the dog that was picked up by a lady was bought as an assistance dog to help my neighbours daughter, when he first arrived he was petrified of the stairs and it was obvious he hadn't had much training, I said from the start that the dog wasn't right, he was panting all the time and when he was checked over he whimpered when certain areas were touched - was this due to the fact that Mr Metcalfe dragged this dog down the stairs ????? The dog became very aggressive so my neighbour contacted Rob and he said the dog would be picked up ASAP and a refund given, do not quote me on this but it was nearly a week before a scruffy lady in a van turned up, my neighbour wasn't happy that she was offering Scottish notes and asked for English notes, she was very stubborn and acted entirely dumb about getting it changed or going to an ATM - after about 15 mins she got out the van with the money in English notes, I was witness to all that went on and the lady was not attacked, unfortunately the dog had to be handed over to the lady once money was handed over - the lady was very intimidating which is not ideal when you are working with vulnerable people - DO NOT believe a word that the lady who works with Rob says

Honestly my dog keeps panting all the time no matter how much he drinks he looks like he takes a lot to be able to brethe . And I was told he’s health and good with other dogs , he had become reactive with other dogs .when we first got him he refused to go up or down the stairs and I watched rob forcfully pull him down the stairs . My dog then gained a fear of stairs that I belive happened. Way before we got him . Lucky my mate was able to help get him over that fear . It is so unfair on the dog. We got told he has the basic obidence training which we had to re train him . We got told he’s 8 months but he’s “ fully grown “ he’s a Durcher shepherd cross German shepherd and even at 8 months old they are a lot smaller . He keeps jumping up . I called rob to ask why he’s biting after no he told us he’s mouthing and to give him a ferm tap under the chin when he gose to bite . However yes the dog mabye be trying to play but has a ferm and powerful bite . He also always sounds likes he’s chewing on rocks whenver he’s playing with a soft toy. I have a sugery coming up and when I called rob to see what to do about the jumping and biting bc I can’t have that after sugery he told me he knew I wouldn’t be getting a fully trained dog and that and how it’s unfair on the dog never mind me . He also told me from the start the training would be £100 bc of our finances and now he’s put it to £125 after telling me he would bring the pay work and microchip with the dog when we got him he never did . We have no clue if the dog is healthy clearly not trained before we got him . He brought him a thin slip coller that later on my dog managed to get out of and chew it up . Yesterday we notivced that he has like a cut under his chin and it’s sensitive for him to touch he also has lots of spots that’s are sensitive for him. It’s so unfair on the dog what he’s been put through . Ans £125 for an hours training is abit too much .

Rob has been amazing with our beautiful girl, Ellie. She has spent a week with him and it has been an amazing outcome.
We will be continuing our training in weeks and months to come!

I paid this man £4000 for training me a dog for PTSD and anxiety. He tried to claim he can train a 5 month old puppy to be suitable within 5 weeks of residential and some follow up training. I did not know much about dog training. However now having researched more into assistance dog training I am fully aware that he was just scamming me out of money, and planning on giving me a dog that had not received any sort of training apart from a walk around the field a day.
This man has no qualifications to be training assistance dogs, and the trainers he uses are borderline abusive towards the dogs.
DON’T BUY A DOG FROM THIS COMPANY! You will not get what you purchased and there is no way to get your money back.
This whole experience has been absolutely horrible for my mental health.

We used One to One dog training school for our dog. Dog was returned smelling of urine, untreated scabs on body and had lost substantial amount of weight. Dog drank 2 bowls of water straight away. Claims to be based in Edinburgh and Wakefield but dogs are took to South Forest Farm, Edwinstowe Road, Edwinstowe which has been rated One Star dog kennels by Newwark and Sherwood Council . Do Not Use

Rob and Jane have been excellent in supporting us with our German shepherd dog Rocky. Rob has been very flexible in his approach and there has been a significant improvement in our dog. We had problems with obedience and anxiousness which Rob has massively helped with. Rob is highly recommended.

Has helped my border collie with his anxiety issues. Very professional service. Highly recommended

Hi I’ve heard that 1 to 1 Dog Training School is getting negative feedback all I can do is state what Rob and Jane have done for me - I have the most beautiful Doberman but he is skittish and scared of the wind I got him from abroad and he came in such a terrible condition I really didn’t know what to do I spent ages googling looking for the right trainer and I found him that’s Rob - this man calmed my boy down he taught him commands I couldn’t - I boarded my boy with Rob and Jane and they videoed me where he was sleeping what kennel has infra red heat lamps to ensure your dog is kept warm and safe I know if I’m on holiday that’s where my boy will go they are in England myself in Scotland but that’s how much I trust them - Rob just didn’t train my boy he trained me to cope with a skittish boy but you get what you pay for yes they are not cheap but the results are 💯 so you get what you pay for - I’d suggest should someone need an excellent trainer who understands dogs go to Rob and Jane you won’t regret it

Rob has done a splendid job, from his caring approach to customer assistance all the way to his passion and determination in helping dogs assist their owners to the best of their ability; the training regimen is super structured; realistic and includes all the specialist knowledge put into practice when it comes to training assistance dogs for mental health. i'm super excited to see the finished result of my assistance dogs who is currently training as the progress i can see is great; Rob a lovely and caring man and I really hope this legacy that he has started continues for many years to come because it is truly a life saver and i'd hate to see this establishment leave; we need more kind hearted people like Rob who fight endlessly for the good of the people

Rob Metcalfe and Jane Armstrong are animal abusers. Both of them traumatised and hurt my dog! They made my dog so anxious and reactive. They advertise themselves as top notch trainers but they are really just bullying fraudsters. They do not care about their clients if the dogs they exploit…

Scammer. Tries to sell abused dogs to vulnerable people as fully trained assistance dogs. All dogs he owns are stressed and reactive. One of his so called trained assistance dogs tried to bite me.
