Offer great insurance for eels which I keep losing in my line of work
Our premium has risen 250% in under 8…
Our premium has risen 250% in under 8 years I believe. Thing is, with a lifetime policy one feels trapped because it is difficult if not impossible to switch this type of insurance. However, have been able to find a much cheaper quote with lower excess and still a lifetime policy so have cancelled this policy.
Asda aka legal and General are useless.
Dog had a lump that was checked out by vet and I was told was just fluid and nothing to worry about unless it changes. Changed my insurance 6 months later because it disappeared. A further 6 months after . So now a year a lump came back. This time was a mass. Got tested was cancer... had two ops too remove. Insurance say pre existing condition because there was a lump a year before. Always been insured and when you need it they cop out. So if you do the right thing and get anything checked even if clear the insurance company will revert back to notes to get out of paying. I will no longer pay Any vet insurance ever. I'll put it on the credit card when needed. And save myself a thousand pounds a year for shareholders. FU
Had our dog insured with pet protect…
Had our dog insured with pet protect which we paid monthly, she recently became ill and died, we made a claim for the vet bill and on receipt of the claim found that they had deducted the remaining payments due, this was the equivalent of 8 monthly payments. Anyone looking for pet insurance check this out it seems to be quite common with these insurance companies.
Terrible service
I have had cat insurance for nearly 17 years with ASDA and I have never had a claim go smoothly. Most recently I made my first claim ever for one cat, they emailed me with a couple of queries which I immediately responded to, on further investigation 10 days later they claim not to have received my response. This happens every time, they claim I haven’t responded or the vet hasn’t answered queries and every time the fault lies at ASDA’s door. I will never use this insurance company again
You are likely to wonder why you…
You are likely to wonder why you bothered paying for the insurance when you need to make a claim.
There is a 25% excess on vet fees on top of the already hefty flat excess and this 25% on vet fees sees to apply to everything.
On top of that you are likely to have to spend a lot of your time chasing the claim as they try various tricks to avoid honoring it.
Avoid this pet insurance company at all…
Avoid Tesco pet insurance company at all costs. I've had my dog insured with them for a year at £35 per month after one year and I've made no claim against them it went up to £45 per month I called them to then be told it was wrong and should be £63 per month which is a complete joke my dog is mixed breed not a pedigree. I cancelled my policy with them and have now received a letter from them to say I owe them £3.47 it probably cost them more than that to send me the letter. If I could give the 0 stars I would have. UPDATE they are now threatening me for the £3.47 considering I've paid them £475.00 and have never claimed from them it's an absolute Joke.
My cat died and they gave me nothing
My cat died and they didnt give me it back. This is pet insurance right?
Avoid like the plague
Avoid like the plague
I have had my 2 cats insured for a number of years with More Than. Suddenly last year, the insurance went to £1500 for the 2 because of their age. Plus I had to pay £200 excess each year for each pet making it £1900 PLUS another 20% of any claim. My vet told me I had around £600 vet bills over the year. I am better off paying myself and get rid of the insurance. The final stab in the back? More Than said the insurance will double in price every year. What a rip off! They lure you in to a sense of trust then when they know they have you, the prices rocket. They Bought by Many or Animal Friends but ask questions and check for hidden costs. AND ask what rate of increase in cost of coverage as the pet gets older. Dont get caught like I did !!!!
If you make a claim don't expect to be…
If you make a claim don't expect to be paid out. They will do all they can to get out of it. Maybe all insurers are like this and I'm doing them a disservice but I'd avoid.
I have had a policy with pet…
I have had a policy with pet insurance.co.uk for 8 years I have never made a claim my dog is the picture of health. The reason I chose them at the time was because they offered life cover which I placed emphasis on at the time . The premiums they charge for the level of cover aren't exactly cheap, I could have easily gone with a better known insurer such as pet plan and I would still have not paid as much for the premium for equal cover. The reason I didn't was because they only offered cover up until 8 years of age. So I decided I would pay extra for my premium for this life cover aspect. My advice to you is don't. My reason for this is that the quote for my premium this year was doubled to about £900 my cavalier king charles turned 8. I found a much cheaper life policy offering better cover and I am saving over £200. When I called the insurance company and asked they weren't willing to match this policy though they did offer to knock off £80. The fact that I have been with them for that length of time and that I have never made a claim counts for nothing. I am a keyworker and I believe in a person centered approach which I think this insurance company could learn from. My dog gets yearly check ups at the vet she has none of the conditions that affect her breed she has a strong heart she is a healthy weight to look at her you would think she is 2. She is on and has always been on wainwright's a high quality dog food brand. I have invested a lot of time and upkeep into her health over the years this really should be reflected in the price of her policy. I love my dog and actually I take it as a personal insult she is a member of family not just a number or a statistic that is why I am here don't fall into the same trap I did.
DO NOT USE TESCO PET INSURANCE - NO CUSTOMER LOYALTY
Had been using Tesco’s pet insurance for over 10 years with our previous dog so when we bought a puppy after we lost her we carried on with them even though they were not the cheapest. Never had a problem with payment for claims. Anyway had my renewal through which had doubled in price. When I called to query this I got told it was due to her age - she’s 2!!!! I was then told it was because I had claimed and that she could have ongoing problems from this claim. It was a suspected grass seed that the vet couldn’t find and she has been fine ever since.
Went on comparison site and price was the original amount I was paying. I asked to speak to a manager and was told that there was no manager available and fobbed off. Customer service from Tesco insurance call centre was appalling and staff were very unhelpful and rude. I have cancelled my pet insurance and when I am able will be cancelling all other services with them. Disgusting, unprofessional behaviour!
Have been with them 10+ years
Have been with them 10+ years. Our king Charles has been healthy except these last few months. To find he need an emergency op. The total cost for this was. £867. So we put in for our first claim EVER and got just £325.70 and he needs meds for the rest of his time here. And we pay for them ourselves as by time we put in for them we wouldn't get anything. So today we thought, what help we would get towards his end of life. Funeral ect. So I called and asked and got told that we would get nothing cause if we put him to sleep due to health we are not covered. So cancelled it. And totally disgusted.
Not Recommended - Avoid
I used this insurer for years and I would recommend reading the terms and conditions very carefully. There’s so many clauses to reduce the amount paid. High fixed excess and also includes an additional percentage excess on any fees. Also includes a maximum limit on vet fees. Now discovered that euthanasia and cremation fees are excluded. On a claim of £420.65, the sum paid was £32.69.
If you require an emergency vet, the fees will only be refunded if your vet specifies that the call-out was a life and death matter.
It’s always stressful making a claim, waiting to see what clauses they can use to reduce your claim.
The monthly payment may be competitive, but you’ll pay for it if you pet becomes ill, or in our case your pet has to be ‘put down’.
Like most people, I looked at the monthly payments, but I would pay more attention to the policy details and any exclusion clauses. The insurers haven’t done anything wrong, but for ‘peace of mind’, there are better insurance companies with lower excess fees and fewer exclusions, and will cover more of your claim.
Absolutely Discraceful Service
Absolutely discraceful service. We've been customers for 10+ years and when we submitted our very first claim, it's refused. We get a snarky and rude email explaining that it's our fault.
It's obvious that this company doesn't have any morals.
Avoid at all costs!!
Excellent insurance
Excellent insurance; it covered my bulldog for 3 years. Customer services were very helpful, they communicated well with the vet and myself. They covered high costs for my bully; the amount I paid was increasing every year; that’s expected from an insurance. But it was much cheaper than any other quotes from other insurances. I chose the lifetime policy to cover for any new illness. With a bulldog, you have to insure them straight away and this was the best insurance I found! Thank you for all your support.

Our cat was 16 years old and we have swopped insurers a few times but I certainly wasn't aware that the policy wouldn't cover having my pet put down which due to a sudden deterioration meant us taking her to another vet practice on a Sunday evening.
The cost of putting her down and, getting her cremated and us receiving her ashes was £376.46.
That's a lot of money to not be covered for with no warning by the company, the service of the insurance company hasn't been bad but I am disappointed in what is obviously a sneaky money saving tactic by pet insurance firms.
Don’t use Saga Pet Insurance total con artists
I have recently made claim to Saga pet insurance for an operation for the removal of a lump on my Parson Jack Russell dog, unfortunately Saga have declined my claim there reason being I asked my vets opinion on the said lump back in September 2018 therefore they are treating claim as an ongoing condition even though no medication or treatment were given
Asda Pet insurance
Asda Pet insurance - Poor service, not there when needed, re-iterate everything that has been said on this blog. Paid 10 years no claims superior cover for my ittle Jack Terrier, a so called life policy that ended up ever increasing to £33 per month. paid out £1700 in emergency vet fees and now into the fourth week withoout a payment despite submitting the claims every day over a five day period. Knocked down the costs left right and centre using every excuse, didn't bother to contact me asking how they could help with my by then put down pet. Absolutely diabolical waste of time and money using Asda. Feel totally conned and let down. Never recommend Asda Insurance stay well clear.
Hide in the small print you'll be paying 25% of all Vet Fees too, as well as the excess.
I think I'll echo what others have put. I've been insured with these guys for years, I think over 10 with one of my dogs by I'm now looking elsewhere.
We got a shock when we found out we had to pay 25% of the vet fees when we were under the impression that we had the top cover. The vets themselves had to check the paperwork as they thought I got it wrong when I told them an excess amount that they said was well above the norm.
I wouldn't recommend these guys at all, I know I should of reading the document line by line, to which I did for the cover, but they put the 25% info right at the bottom when of the page when all the other info was in the top half. I wish I could share an image of the document
Honestly, there is better out there, I wish I had looked harder.
