Avoid!
Simply put if you are looking for a new policy for a healthy pet, then don't! We have paid this company for years, sadly when needed, they would rather review the fine print than help. They have increased the excess from our agreed payment plus 5%and increased that by several pounds PLUS 25% of the bill. They even backdated their claim so i owed them money! The reason, i made a mistake on a claim form and put the wrong year as the date of birth, put 12 instead of 11. So, i would gladly accept a charge for such an error, but the way they have conducted business is appalling. They will pull out every small print in the book to not pay you. This is still ongoing. As each "new" policy they have sent out has a typo. What is the typo, just my name, the name of the customer and bill payer! Not smart, i have obviously advised them on the error and provided correct spelling time and again. Most recent email received today, " can you show us where the typo is we have fixed everything"...What else had i missed as the typo is still very much present? This tells me customer service only becomes attentive if its to avoid paying you. (my opinion only). Sadly, the pet in question is terminal so we cannot move insurance companies, even though the vet bills (monthly), are several hundred pounds , we are still running through the numbers to see if its worth the extremely reduced reimbursement and hassle it brings or to cancel the policy completely. We have now moved all of our other animals away, before they too are locked into such a company. If it is a new policy don't! If you have a policy and are fortunate enough to still have a healthy animal leave. We moved all other animals to Tesco pet insurance and they already proved their value over PetInsurance.co.uk, not that would be hard.
Dreadful customer service
The most appalling customer service I have experienced in a very long time.
I haven’t even had my claim finalised yet and am not confident about the outcome.
Submitted my claim 33 days ago and despite almost 2 hours on the phone, 2 emails and numerous times checking the website for an update, I am still waiting.
Dreadful service.
Very happy with my experience with insurance for two dogs.
I insure two lurchers, one of whom turned out, aged four, to have a rare life-threatening genetic disorder. Other owners warned me to expect the worst as they had been told by their insurance companies that it was an 'existing condition' (and therefore not covered). Pet-insurance covered extensive (and expensive) testing, medication and long-term check-ups and further medication. They will pay direct to the vet or to me, depending on the vet. Initially the payments were a bit slow in coming (about six weeks, still much quicker than I had previously experienced with other companies) but this has improved over time.
PLEASE NOTE I have looked through the poor reviews listed and notice that many of them are for other insurers. I can only assume that reviewers just put in 'pet insurance' without a company name. My experience has been very positive and the only reason I do not award five stars is the initial slightly slow payment.
Daylight robbery - annual price increases
The approach to annual price increases is terrible. They will write to you just before renewal and hike up your premiums 25-30%. If you ring then they will reduce this which is poor. Why not apply a nominal price increase of a few percent. This whole approach is a deliberate ploy to rip off loyal customers. BEWARE!
We have had two separate claims for two…
We have had two separate claims for two of our cats, Morethan have always paid out promptly without any problems.
Not their when you need them
This is the worst pet insurance I have ever had ,my vet has Just submitted insurance claim for my cats condition.
They have refused any payment due to all their multitude of terms and conditions.
I would not recommend them to anyone as when you really need them they will find some clause not to pay out.
Helpful and easy to deal with
We took out a policy to cover our cat. Six months later, he suffered a bladder blockage.
This can be a very serious condition and resulted in our cat being referred to the emergency vet at the university animal hospital, where he spent five days recovering - some of it in intensive care. Due to it all happening so quickly, I just authorised the treatment on my credit card. However, pet-insurance.co.uk were fantastic. The customer representatives I spoke to were incredibly helpful and sympathetic and the vet bills were paid quickly. Very grateful we had cover with them.
360% price increase
I have had pet insurance with this company for 3 years and never had a claim. Each year at renewal i would receive an email detailing the renewed cost which went up by £3 - £5 per month which was acceptable. The most i have paid is £19.00 per month for a 12 month policy.
This year i did not receive an e-mail from them informing me of the increase. Upon checking my bank statement i have found that they have taken £89.00.
When i telephoned them i was told it was my renewal price.......an increase of £70 per month. That is an increase of 360%. I have not had any claims and surprise surprise no e-mail informing me of this increase.
When i explained i had not been notified or agreed to such an increase and requested a refund i was told that would not be possible, i requested to speak to a manager but was told no managers available and one would call me back. Surprise surprise no call back was made to me.
Luckily my bank have refunded me the money based on the direct debit guarantee.
I will never use this snidey company again.
Terrible Support Service
Terrible Support Service, Tried to contact them few times but they won't respond.
Don’t be fooled by Feefo reviews.
Their “customer service” staff are the rudest people I’ve ever dealt with. They will refuse point blank to work with any vets on pre authorisation or direct claims, and will bend any claim to suit their t&c’s to make sure they don’t have to pay out - avoid this company like the plague, I wish we had.
Pet insurance is not affordable and…
Pet insurance is not affordable and don't cover the shots or preexisting conditions my dog is 10 and needs teeth stuff and her shots!
Don’t be fooled by the feefo reviews…
Don’t be fooled by the feefo reviews which are obviously fake or the persons invited to review have managed somehow get this company to pay up! All was good until I had to make a claim, easy to set up and take your money but will come up with excuses about paying and have ridiculous high excesses. I decided to cut my loses and cancel which they of course did with great pleasure so they won’t have to pay for the rest of the term! Avoid, would never use or recommend.
Also wish I could give it minus stars
Also wish I could give it minus stars, the premiums shoot up year after year and it's a complete rip off. I've been paying £54 a month, with an excess of £125 plus 10%. I recently had to take my dog to the emergency vets and then we had to let her go at our proper vets the next day. In total, the fees came to approx £600 and this insurance company will not accept liability for any of the cost. I may as well have been putting that money in a savings account so I could pay for it without having to go through the trauma of trying to claim the money back. May I state that I have only claimed on this policy once in the whole time I've had it (since 2013). Just awful.
Should be 0 stars
If I could give 0 stars I would. It has taken more than 2 months to get an answer on our claim (while they were still happily taking our money!). The customer service each time I've called chasing has been diabolical. Different people each time and never willing to do anything to help. Weren't speaking to the vet directly.
Policy - 0 stars
Service - 0 stars
Likely hood to recommend. Not a chance!
I have had pet insurance with this... Watch you renewal documents
I have had pet insurance with this company 5years with one small claim for a removal of a lump. My dog has now reached 8years. The renewal came via email just advising to read attached documents. Which I did. To find my excess has gone up over double to nearly £200.00 plus my premium has also doubled. I think that the email should have been more clear of the cost from the main email page and not buried in attachment which are pages long and the cost not shown on the main introduction letter of the attachment but lost in the small print.
Horrendous company to deal with
Horrendous company to deal with, my vets have a notice in the waiting room stating they will not deal with them, I have been with them since my dog was a pup under their lifetime insurance, which simply seems to be a licence to print money given my recent renewal increase of 166%, more expensive to insure than my wife & I’s cars together. Never claimed until now, Abel needs a small procedure but you would think I was asking the staff to offer up their first born for sacrifice rather than cover the cost!! Steer clear of these clowns.
Rubbish product
Rubbish. Dont touch it with a barge pole.
I got 130 back off one 450 claim. It took 6 weeks to go through, and the delay took it into a a new 12 month period. Thus charged me TWO excesses. MORE charges cos he is a year older. MORE charges cos a drug wasn't claimable etc
READ THE SMALL PRINT.
AWFUL
Worse than 1 star - AVOID!!
I never bother with writing reviews but I am so incensed by the poor service and dodgy dealings of these lot that today I will. My genuine advice is that you should insure your animal through a creditable company and avoid pet insurance.co.uk. Avoid them like the plague!
rang up to change address on pet…
rang up to change address on pet insurance due to house move, they charged me £10 for doing it and its costing me a extra £3 a month because we have moved to another area, Im well annoyed with the £10 charge, if I had not told them about my new address and needed to claim they prob not paid out because my details were not up to date, I shall look at other insurance companies when its time to renew
stay away, they start cheap as a puppy but gradually creep
stay away, they start cheap as a puppy but gradually creap up, i have been with then for 8 years with one dog and 9 with another and recently cancelled one dog as she died. i have just had a renewal on my 8 year old ridgeback which was double last year as she is now classed as an elder dog despite no claims. they never double the cost of my other dog when she got to 9 wanted nearly £70 a month and that was for only a 50/50 clam policy with a 250 excess better putting the money in a saving account for later use
