Potato House supplied tiny potatoes. They aren’t smaller than the “legal minimum of 25mm as required by The Seed Potato Regulations 2015” though 🙄. Well done!

When a customer thinks that their opinion carries more weight than the legal rules that a company operates by, it is never going to end well. Demands for refunds or for us to resend an order are not going to be met.
This customer was given many links to show that the legal minimum for a seed potato in the UK is 25mm. We sell ours at 35mm.
(as a tuber bounces over the grid, if it lands at any angle and does not pass this means that it is 35mm). The pictured tuber was a lot more than 35 mm in every direction apart from one edge was 33mm - this is a perfect seed potato.
I am glad that you mention that we don't sell potatoes that are below the legal requirement.
This order had 3 heritage varieties and the customer thought that a few of one variety were too small, however sent us a picture of only one tuber which is a perfect seed potato. Again, you are welcome to send more pictures of other tubers.
Customers have many different expectations of what a seen potato should be - some liking the smallest, and some liking large ones to cut up - this is why we are very clear as to what customers will get from us - we mention this on tabs on each variety and on our FAQs - not many other companies that sell seed potatoes do this.
Rules are there for the protection of both buyer and seller.
We are proud of our range of heritage varieties that we grow. These potatoes are rare, and so if they pass inspection, they will be sold.
Potatoes are grown not manufactured and so different varieties will have a natural average, this will change year on year, depending on the growing conditions.
We have over 90 varieties in 4 different sack sizes, and do not have the capacity (grading, storage or admin) to then grade to small med and large. If we did, this would push the prices up for all customers.
We know that you are going to get a cracking potato patch - weather, blight and beasties permitting and look forward to harvest pictures - please share any updates on our social media as we are happy for our name to be associated with our heritage seed potatoes.
We are not embarrassed about sending healthy heritage seed potatoes of the correct size, no matter what you say or demand over your emails.

I'd never ordered seed potatoes for the following year, until last year. Ordering was easy, with lots of information to help me decide which varieties to buy and occasional emails popped into my inbox before the really exciting one that said my order was being despatched. There is plenty of guidance on chitting, planting and growing the potatoes, we just have to keep our fingers crossed for good potato-growing weather now!

I have had a look at your order and see that you contacted us for the first time about this at 11:25 last night. It is very strange that you give us 2* without letting us know about the non-delivery. We are not Amazon and do not have staff working 24-7.
When an order does not arrive, we put this right for our customer. ALWAYS. However, we need the customer to inform us that their parcel did not arrive - we are not mind readers!
It is very disappointing that you have not allowed us to do this.

I agree - it is incredibly disappointing that we are prohibited to sell to part of the UK. More than disappointing - still very unreal that part of the UK has a completely different set of rules.
We follow the rules laid out by the Government, and aren't going to break the law to gain that extra * We mention that we can't deliver to NI on a tab on every variety as well as on our FAQ.
We have lost a LOT of our customers due to politics. We would love to resume our service to NI and to the rest of Europe - prior to Brexit, around 20% of our orders were outwith Eng/Scot/Wales.
We are prohibited to sell to Northern Ireland or to anywhere else in the EU and until we lock all the politicians in a room and serve them rice and pasta we see no way of gaining that extra star.

Please be aware that seed potatoes can be confiscated at customs even if it is for personal use.
If you have time, it would be great if you could write to your MP. It really is disgraceful that we are prohibited to sell to Northern Ireland and the rest of the EU.

Tastiest tatties
At the community centre and garden I work for in Dundee we have purchased seed potatoes for our big grow project, giving more than 100 individuals/families potatoes and compost to grow their own. We have also purchased eating potatoes and they are delicious, never have so many commented on the taste, texture and quality of the potatoes we have used before. We love them. Great to have a fantastic local supplier who cares so much for community and passion for growing .

A great company!
It’s great to have a company that not only sell smaller numbers of seed potatoes, I have a small garden and like to grow more than one variety, but this is a company that cares. One of the potatoes in my small order arrived at the time I ordered it for, but quite damaged and I let them know. Amazingly they sent out a replacement 3 potatoes of that variety!! This is a great company! So customer friendly!!
