I had Rural & Country install an air source heat pump
I had Rural & Country install an air source heat pump. My experience during the sales process was really positive with the salesman seeming very competent and he filled me with confidence in the solution that Rural & Country proposed. Having selected Rural & Country the installation process was really positive, despite the work being very disruptive to the house those working on my home were really friendly and helpful and left a working system and the house in a very good state. So these are the positives. So why not a good mark? My concerns are that as an organisation that they seem to be overloaded, once I paid my initial deposit I was left waiting for the next stage the surveyor and heard nothing until I chased this up, then similarly having had the surveyor complete his survey I did not get a date for an installation until I chased this up. Perhaps it was a lack of patience but it was many weeks before I chased things up. Then on completion of the installation I had a number of questions on how to get the system working efficiently. Any responses to my questions were patchy and frequently would naturally ask follow up questions which when I supplied further information would not always get answered. These are the reasons that I feel that like Neil Peacock who posted on Set 17, 2025 I would conclude that the back office support is poor it seems to me that they just do not have enough staff to deal with their level of work. If I were to be asked I would recommend anyone looking to install an ASHP to find a local installer and to try to get personal recommendations. What makes it extra hard is that so many others seem to have such positive experiences which makes my lack of response from the company seem almost personal.
Overall Good Experience
Overall Good Experience. The strip out of the old system and installation of the new system ran in line with the dates that R&C advised, and the installation has been mostly stable since completion. The process to engage with R&C and speak to their pre-installation team was really easy, and Lawrence took a very pragmatic approach when looking at our existing set up and explaining what needs changing or what could be kept i.e. radiators. His advice has proved accurate, and the old radiators have been more than able to cope. Only downside was some snagging issues at completion, which were dealt with shortly after, hence 4 stars. I obtained two other quotes and R&C were also the most competitive on price after government grant.
Thorough and professional service of our ASHP
Cade, Rural and Country's engineer that came to service our air source heat pump, was professional and informative. We appreciated the care and time he took to carry out the service and answer our questions.
Excellent Service
Cade is very nice experienced Heating Engineer who did a great job servicing our Air Source Heat Pumps. Was thorough, helpful and excellent at explaining the control mechanism to a ‘Older Gen’ couple. We would be happy to recommend Rural & Country.
Very disappointed with the service from…
Very disappointed with the service from this company. Having contacted them re installing a heat pump and been visited by a surveyor....things then stopped. Frequent chasing resulted in the report finally arriving. Subsequent contact has not been responded do. Presumably they don't want our business.

Rural and Country - Reliable and Courteous
Rural and Country provided us with a solar panel array and battery storage this summer. They made the whole process simple and hassle free. From planning, via installation, to connection into the grid the R&C team gave us great advice and guidance at every stage. When the talking stopped and the work began they were as good as their word. The whole team, designers, management, administrators and fitters were approachable, friendly and most importantly helpful. We are delighted with both the service they gave us and the product they provided.
Average
Had an air source heat pump and UFH installed with Rural & Country. The initial sales and quotation process was very good and was very competitive. The installation itself was okay but lots of different teams work on different element of the installation and there was frequently issues between teams which sometimes caused delays and didn’t fill me with confidence. The process was lengthy (some delay caused by us) but as many by R&C which did drag out the process. The back office support is poor, it takes a long time to get help, always seemed to be out of the office for one reason or another. Felt to me like there were short staffed. Overall, was okay but couldn’t say I would recommend from my experience

Efficient and Skilled service
We are very pleased with our heat pump and all aspects of the installation and service provided by Rural and Country. We wanted the hot water cylinder fitted in our bathroom and this meant space for all the pipe work was very tight. We were very impressed with the skilled work done by the plumbers in getting this difficult job done as we wanted. They worked very effectively as a team. The work took a week to complete and we were only without hot water for 4 days. Rural and Country have been very quick to respond whenever we have needed to contact them. We have no hesitation in recommending them.
New heat pump installation
Recently had a new heat pump and replacement hot water tank installed. Excellent service throughout all my dealings with this company, great communication too. Every member of the team was polite, efficient and professional, nothing negative to say, far from it!
Just decent and genuine people, we shouldn't find that surprising, but a pleasant surprise all the same.
The price for the panels was the best…
The price for the panels was the best quotation we received.
The installation was carried out quick and straightforward by the work men on our roof.
Other Company's didn't explain as well as this one about the benefits of the panels which are working effectively for us.

Rural and country installed our air source heat pump, solar panels a.nd battery system, all to a high standard. they combined a knowledgeable and very efficient approach with a friendly and caring service ethic. Stay warm with Rural and Country Energy
After researching and speaking to over 5 companies I decided on rural and country energy to install a mitsubishi 22.4kwh cascade system.
Other well known installers wouldn't even look at my house because it didn't fit into a "normal" design. Not an issue with rural though. House is 306m². 9" solid brick wall.
Working with the team at Rural was a pleasure. There was one or two snags that needed addressing but they were dealt with in a timely manner. Communication with Rural was good but there could be a small delay in replying as their system designer is onsite a lot of the time. Not a issue though, as all questions are answered.
My system was installed summer 2025 so don't know what my winter performance will be but I'm a Home Assistant user and I'll be monitoring every Kw used.
For DHW I'm achieving a average COP of 3.8 at the moment. 300L joule. Temp set to 50c. This is live power data as Rural installed a energy meter for each ASHP. I've a open energy monitor pulse sensor on the meter sending live data via a esp32.
Advice for anyone looking to swap over to ASHP run your gas boiler over winter 24/7 and with a max radiator temp of 50c. 45c better. House thermostat to what your comfortable with. If your house is staying at set internal temp, this will show you that your house will be suitable for a ASHP. A ASHP is designed to replace the heat that the building is losing at design temp. If you run it like a boiler, on off method it will probably cost you more. Research weather compensation.
With the research I've done and the system design by Rural I'm confident that heating cost will be cheaper than gas.
I do have 9.24kwp solar
10kwh battery.
Somethings for potential customers to be made aware of.
The MelCloud app isnt very good for 2025. Mitsubishi are updating it but there's limited data for a cascade system.
One recommendation for Rural and Country Energy.
With uses like myself that likes a good graph (I don't know why) it would be great if you could give the more techy users a option to install the open energy monitor system as a optional extra. I'm sure if I asked at the start it wouldn't have been a issue.
Good luck with your ASHP journey.
If your thinking of a ASHP give Rural a call. You'll be in safe hands.
I'll update the review after 2025/26 winter.
Alan.
The company's staff were friendly
The company's staff were friendly, clean and tidy, and efficient and professional. They tried to answer our questions, and explain clearly what was going on, and how the system works. They were obviously believers in green energy, and seemed to enjoy installing it!
All round decent firm to deal with.
Informative salesman in Barry, who also thought outside of the box to adjust to our needs. Friendly and efficient office team who respond swiftly.
Installation was smooth and punctual. They did what they said they would and in the time frame agreed.
We would use this firm again.
I was unsure about whether a heat pump…finding the right installer is fundamental.
I was unsure about whether a heat pump would be suitable for our microbore system and did not want the disruption of pipework or radiator changes. The first two companies indicated both would need changing and we didn’t get a visit report outlining installation details. Rural and Country arrived and made a very thorough survey of the property and assured us their system would function satisfactorily. The report was well detailed, very professional.
Installation went head and there is a very high level of competence throughout this company. Any issues were quickly resolved.
The system has been operating for 8 months and there are no problems at all.
Dealing with this company is highly recommended.
Great service
Great service, great communication, the team always courteous and tidy. Cannot recommend enough
Successful solar panel and air source heat pump installation.
We used R&C ES to supply and install solar PV panels and air source heat pump as replacement of oil fired boiler.
They responded quickly to a request for a quotation and gave a detailed report with useful advice. Prices were competitive.
Installation crews for both systems were efficient and pleasant causing minimal disruption.
One year on, both systems have proved reliable and performed in accordance with specifications.
The company managed grant application and all necessary permits, permissions and certificates.
We are happy to recommend them for this type of renewable technology.

New heat pump in Norfolk
Rural and Country came all the way over to Norfolk to instal the heat pumps and generally sort out the plumbing in the house. This was done efficiently, with minimum disruption and mess and we are very pleased with the result.
The work was carried out over a 2 week period. Small extra jobs were done as well which was most helpful
A happy sceptic!
When my old gas boiler needed replacing, I was keen to move away from fossil fuels, however I had read and heard conflicting reports regarding Air Source Heat Pumps, and was rather sceptical that an installation in my property, using existing radiators, would work.
I contacted Rural & Country Energy, and a home visit was arranged. The information and advice I received was most helpful, and the company seemed to have many years of experience installing these systems.
With renewed confidence I decided to go ahead, and I am so glad I did!
The service I received from this company was excellent. The lads who carried out the installation in my property were polite and considerate, and their workmanship neat and tidy.
The new system has given me plenty of hot water, along with a bungalow that is much warmer than it has ever been, even during the sub-zero temperatures we experienced in winter.
I can thoroughly recommend this company and their expertise!
First rate service from start to finish.
From the initial assessment right through to completion Rural & Country have been efficient & professional. I would happily recommend this company.
