Well done

Well done, Anizah from Sports Direct
I arranged to return an item to SD (perfect but too heavy for me) using Hermes. Filled in all the correct forms and paid for uplift. Nothing happened. Found Hermes impossible to contact, useless customer service site, But Anizah from SD customer service was able to galvanise Hermes into action.

Sports Direct Fitness are thieves.

Sports Direct went into lockdown in January 2021 thus as I had joined at the end of December 2020 with my Son and we had no use of facilities we had paid up front fees for nothing. When they reopened in 2021 across the UK my Club was kept permanently closed and so Sports Direct Fitness told my Son and I that they would fully refund us because we did not wish to use another club. That was in MAY 2021 and to this date we still have not been refunded; our payment made up front when we joined still sit with SPORTS DIRECT FITNESS. They never answer phones, they never reply to emails and the manager we were directed to can make no headway either. SPORTS DIRECT FITNESS ARE NOTHING BUT CROOKS.. THIEVES AND LIARS... I still have the emails and this review is FACTUAL without bias nor slander. SDF464530 and SDF24015646... we want our money back you thieving fcuks.

Please think before you join…

Please seriously think before you join this gym, as once you are a member there you are a member for life. It is impossible to leave without being billed for months in advance or having extra charges adding to your account. They will do anything they can to steal your money, especially after lockdown. Don't bother phoning or emailing them as you will get no response. They have the most utterly useless customer service I have ever experienced in my life, as they have literally no customer service team to handle your complaints or issues. Please avoid sports direct fitness gyms if you don't want to be ripped off.

I have been trying for 2 months to get…

I have been trying for 2 months to get a refund from Everlast/sports direct. Nobody answers emails and nobody answers phone calls. Phone number given by Everlast is answered by computer saying you are 17th in queue, I waited for 50 minutes one day and was then cut off! Don’t know anybody who has managed to speak to a human yet? Complete thieves. I paid over £300 for a years membership before they pulled out of Bangor which is now fitness first.

Bad Customer Service

I ordered a pair of trainers from this company and paid for it to be delivered the following day, this was on 19 June. 5 days later I am still waiting for the delivery. I have contacted the company and asked them where it is and they have said that it will not be delivered for a further 48 hours. I have asked for a refund and their a swer was that I have to wait until the item is delivered and refuse delivery. No mention of paying back the extra I paid for early delivery. DO NOT ORDER ITEMS FROM THIS COMPANY

Pandemic penalty and poor customer handling of ‘complaint’

Can I do a negative score?!!?
Rejoined local club after cancelling prior membership due to pandemic and suddenly my account was frozen due to ‘arrears’. It took 10+ emails to ascertain dates and details and explanation of arrears, almost 2 weeks!
Finally they told me that even during the pandemic they were charging fir a month’s cancellation fee when the club was CLOSED. Long story short, they wanted to charge without any explanation or dates/details initially. Finally when I explained that I thought this was mean spirited (I lost my job also), not only did they freeze my account but they have banned me from the local club !
I didn’t refuse to pay but was stating that I felt their handling of my ‘complaint’ disrespectful and unacceptable. Mike Ashley, is this the culture you wish to promote post pandemic?

AVOID, AVOID, AVOID

What a dreadful company…….
Their whole service and facilities have changed due to Covid.
Less staff, less classes, less everything.
They are greedy beyond greedy. I signed up 6 friends and was credited 6 months membership fees, one month per friend. I decided to cancel my membership after 5 years, because of all the changes.
What I signed up for was not what they were now offering.
I told them I was owed 6 months of membership. I was told “ we don’t know anything about it” you bunch of utter robbers.
So I cancelled my direct debit. Now iam getting the charge for this, charge for that , threatening emails.
I will happily see them in court. They varied the contract I signed, making it void.
GREED GREEDY GREEDY

Do not sign up you'll be unable to cancel

Made multiple requests to cancel since November 2020. They're still taking payments, you can't speak to anyone to help (emails and phone calls are ignored) the clubs have no power to help either.

They also took payments during the "payment freeze" window during lockdown.

Please use another gym - it's all great until you want to cancel.

Impossible to cancel a membership

Impossible to cancel a membership. Continue to charge month on month despite requesting multiple times via the club, email and attempted over the phone since November 2020. Cancellation acknowledged multiple times, and Direct debit cancelled and they still continue to try to take money and add on £10 admin fee every 10 days.

A con of a company

If I could give this company 0 stars I would. If you're thinking of joining make sure you want to stay for life. There is no getting out of your contract, even once it ends. They have no system for you to contact them,
I have been emailing constantly for 4 months with no response, and they will continue to take money out of your account. This company is criminal, I don't know how they are still running.

If I could give zero stars I would

If I could give zero stars I would.

Tried to cancel my membership multiple times via the cancellation email as I was told to by a member of staff. Told I wasn’t in a contract so could cancel any time. All you get is an automated email back asking you to provide ‘proof’ of your ‘redundancy’ or circumstances even if it has nothing to do with why you’re leaving. Either that or you won’t get a response at all.

Cannot get through on the phone lines either - two generic messages will either tell you they are experiencing high call volumes or that they’re having technical issues and can’t take your call. You will not even be added into a queue.

If you cancel the direct debit while you’re waiting for a response, they will start charging you ‘administration’ fees that keep being added the longer you go without paying. I eventually was forced to pay £53 in fees to stop them from adding any more, which I had to borrow from a family member since I am unemployed due to stress from my last job.

The woman on the phone at the gym (the general manager) who told me I had no choice but to pay the whole fee was completely unsympathetic to my situation and just sounded so unbothered - she made me feel like an idiot. I cried after the call.

They wouldn’t even waive the administration fees even though if I’d ever been able to get through to them on the phone I could have just paid for May and been done with it.

I thought I was safe and they could not possibly take all that money from me when I had done everything right, but I was wrong. Terms and Conditions do not apply from the Everlast website as apparently if you’ve been there a while, your contract is still with DW, which makes no sense whatsoever - according to Everlast rules you can cancel a rolling term membership with 5 days’ notice OR by cancelling the direct debit, which is what I did - absolutely pathetic that they tie you into paying an extra month upon cancellation even if you haven’t used the gym in over a year and you are following the Everlast T&Cs.

I was really hoping to rejoin the gym when my circumstances are better but I’d honestly rather die than support this company now.

What a horrible way to treat people who are in difficult circumstances.

I really don't like this place at all

I really don't like this place at all. Like others when it came time to cancel, I found out how bad they really are. My friends from the gym, who encouraged me to join, unfortunately, also made the same experience and were similarly disappointed with them. It is a wonder that they are allowed to act like this and get away with it without being shut down. Where is the Betyter Business Bureau in this country.

Just awful customer service

I have been trying since the first lockdown to resolve issues on my charges on my
Membership.They have now twice not
Alerted me to the club being open or asking if I was happy to set back up my membership( like most other clubs have). They advised me after months of trying resolve after the first lockdown that I would gain what I had lost in the following months membership fees but then we went into lockdown again and still unresolved.
Again ,after this latest lockdown they just took money even though I have been requesting to both freeze my account and resolve the monies owed. They do not respond to emails, do not take calls, so I have stopped my direct debit and they send me a snotty letter saying I owe them admin fees. I have been a loyal member but enough is enough as the customer service is just disgusting

Sports Direct don’t listen

Sports Direct are taking our monthly money when they can’t off the service we ask for.
Try freezing your account and they still take your direct debit. They have very poor customer service.

Trapped in a membership

Wouldn’t even give them a one star. Since DW has been taken over by Everlast, I feel like I’m trapped in a membership I’m unable to cancel and continue to be out of pocket. Sent notice to cancel membership in August 2020, sending numerous emails since as they have continued to take money from my account on 3 different occasions. Received another email today notifying me of my direct debit.

No response to emails, no contact number to phone and the ‘contact us’ page on the website fails to load. Seems like they don’t want anyone to be able to cancel a membership.

Phoned my local club, really helpful and cancelled it on the system but told they are unable to cancel the notice period and will be charged an additional month. Finally got a contact number to request a refund. For all those unable to contact them, here you are: 03442 459 276.

Just a heads up, waited on hold for 60 minutes for the call to ‘not be connected’.

I joined as a member before the second…

I joined as a member before the second lockdown. Due to this I was not able to go to Everlast in Epsom. I recently checked my bank and I had a
Direct debit for £160 for the gym during this lockdown and I haven’t even been able to use it.! I think this is appalling. If you are a member I would check your direct debits.!

Refusing to process cancellations

Everlast (Sports Direct) in Derby are refusing to accept my 1months notice to cancel my membership. They are arguing that they since are currently closed for lockdown that I’ll have to wait for the branch to reopen before I can give my 1 months notice. The T&Cs simply require 1 calendar month notice and make no mention of the club needing to be open during this period. Their normal membership email address has been closed during the lockdown to make it as difficult as possible to contact them. They were good when they were DW Sports, and I’ve generally had a good experience while I’ve been a member for many years. However I now no longer need to use this gym and simply wish to cancel. I appreciate these are difficult times for gyms, but this approach of trying to bleed a bit more money out of leaving customers leaves a really sour taste, hence I would now never return after this experience.

Refusing to refund - Epsom Branch.

Sports Direct Fitness in Epsom refuse to refund payment taken when the gym has been closed during the pandemic. Not acceptable service, instead of wanting to retain their customers they choose to lose them by not doing the decent thing in refunding money taken for a service not provided. I've had to get in touch with my bank to authorise a refund and I'm now looking for a new gym.
