Bought a second hand Volvo XC40 from Taggarts in Hillington in 2022. I am disabled and needed a reliable car, so, I paid over the odds to buy from a reputable dealer. It spent a good deal of its first... See more

Excellent Customer Service and Vehicle Fault Finding
Having identified a problem that, from the owner’s handbook, appeared to be a software issue, the vehicle was booked in for a day that suited me perfectly with an option of waiting for the work to be done or returning later. I opted for returning later to collect the vehicle and I was given telephone updates during the day. It was quickly confirmed to be an error in the owner’s handbook and not a fault on the vehicle. Lookers are contacting Land Rover to have this rectified.
Booking was easy and all contacts with the Service Department were dealt with in a most professional, efficient and friendly manner which encourages further use of Lookers Glasgow North.
Very Poor Customer Service.
Poor customer care
Initially sales person was very helpful with info.
Looked at a Volvo XC40 which was in excellent condition. As salesperson was on day off the next day I contacted dealer to arrange a test drive. I was told the car was getting a repair done then told it was an alloy refurbishment so would need to go in the next day for test drive.
Went back in yhe next day and spoke to salesperson I first dealt with and it was no issue getting a test drive and that there was in fact nothing done to the car apart from a service.
I fealt the engine wasn't right for me and went back later the same day and asked to drive 2 of the same models that were in the forecourt and both with different engines . I was told no and I would need to drive the car with the spec I wanted. How would I know the spec when I have only driven the T3 and wanted to try a B4 and T5 to find out what engine to get in the spec I want.
Basically no help whatsoever from sales to try and establish the model to get as I established from initial test drive the XC40 was suitable compared to other makes/models.
Now I am in the process of buying my next car from another dealer and will not be back at Lookers Volvo Glasgow if that is the standard of customer care.
Good buying experience
Good buying experience. The handover was handled very thoroughly by Derek Taylor

One of the Best Dealerships
Dangerously dismissive!
Should I be so horrified at their total lack of interest or concern?
I don't know. Times have moved on. More likely, I'm no longer of any monetary interest to them.
Here's our story.
Bought our pride and joy 2015 Evoque from Taggerts (now Lookers) Motherwell in Feb 2019.
We live on the Isle of Bute, across the water from Glasgow.
In 3+ years we've added approximately 6,000 miles since our purchase (yes, only 6,000miles...we live on an island).
Today, when doing our annual Christmas pilgrimage down south, the car inexplicably lost power, with zero acceleration in the fast lane on a motorway.
Dashboard indicator says "Restricted performance" with red triangle.
Turns out we're 4 miles from the Taggert's (now Lookers) dealership we bought the car.
Limped into the dealership to ask if they could hook the car up to the computer and tell us the problem, or at least if we're safe to limp back home.
"Nah, we're busy. You can bring it to us in the New Year!"
The car was loaded with everything you imagine to be on a long distance trip...plus turkey and trimmings in a freezer bag.
Two questions:
1. Beyond the dismissive smiles of the wee lasses at front desk, should I have expected at least the courtesy of a manager or mechanic to appear and explain my options with regard to this catastrophic loss of engine power? Could we make it to our destination 500 miles south? Should we limp back home to Rothesay (2 hours)? Apparently, the expectation of any help was unreasonable, as we received nothing but plastic smiles from the desk-lasses.
2. Why the F$%^£ing hell does Land Rover think it acceptable for a vehicle to inexplicably lose power in the fast lane on a motorway and morph into "restricted performance" mode. It's a potentially mortally dangerous situation.
There are times when quick acceleration will get any driver out of danger. Don't just cut my power!
No prior warnings. No previous amber lights. No...just an immediate cut of juice on the motorway.
As for the assistance from Taggerts Motherwell (now Lookers),
thanks for your concern. Considering we bought the car from your dealership, it would have been a nice goodwill gesture for you to have hooked it up to the computer quickly and discovered the issue. Regardless, it would have taken 10 minutes from a tech or mechanic to explain our options.
We figured we couldn't continue our journey, but didn't know if we could limp the 2 hours back home. We made it, no thanks to you.
Such sad indictment of Land Rover after-sales service.
Aagh well, you reap what you sow as the saying goes. Hope prospective buyers read our account of after-sales service before purchasing from Lookers/Taggerts Motherwell...or paying big money for a product with zero after-sales interest from the seller.
A waste of time
My car didn’t get looked at until 4:30pm after being dropped off at 10:00am. The issue was diagnosed and a repair required. The only person able to carry out the repair had finished by this time and so it could not be done. A day off work and an 80 mile round trip for a car wash. This was so frustrating and just a really poor service.
Second vehicle that we have purchased from Lookers Volvo Hillington
This is the second vehicle that we have purchased from Lookers Volvo, Hillington. The experience of purchasing our first vehicle was a driver in returning to purchase a second vehicle. The sales executive (same executive) was excellent on both occasions and is a principal reason for returning. The experience was the best we have had in over forty years of purchasing a vehicle. We have also had an excellent experience with the after-sales department, which again is a contributing factor to our decision to purchase a second vehicle from Lookers Volvo Hillington.
Service for my car
Service for my car was carried out all staff very polite friendly and knowledgeable, everything done and to agreed time scale.
Excellent service!
Our car was recovered to Taggarts Glasgow South, in Darnley. They pulled out all the stops to have the car driveable again in short order. They kept us informed of what was happening throughout. Courteous, efficient service. Brilliant. Thankyou
Taggarts South - LRJ Dealership
Purchased a LR Discovery Sport from Taggarts in November 2020. Car has been in garage 6 times since with various issues.
When I purchased car I explained my driving style (Short Journeys on Weekdays/longer Journeys at weekend). Sales guy said Discovery Sport will be excellent for my needs. After the 2nd issue (Tailgate Failure & Nox Replacement), it was all my fault due to my driving habits. I purchased the car for £22,500 and since November 2020 there has been around £6500 of repairs carried out. Thankfully £4k carried out under warranty.
I basically feel I was sold a car that was not fit for purpose. I have no confidence in this car. I panic on every long journey that the Engine management light will appear. the engine Management light has been on that often, I am surprised the wee bulb has not blown.
Never again will I but from this garage and never again will I buy a Land Rover/Range Rover/Jag
Great Dealership Jaguar Glasgow
Booked car in for a check due to service warning light. Waited in the dealership which was very pleasant. Sarah took my booking and dealt with the entire process with ease, providing updates and making me feel welcome. Loved the drive in/out service bays, much easier. No problems.
Overall a great experience
Overall a great experience. The Sales Executive was very helpful and answered any questions or concerns we had. I would definitely go to Taggarts Jaguar Glasgow for any future purchase
GREAT SERVICE
Used Volvo XC60 had hidden debt attachment
Bought a used Volvo XC60 from Taggarts/Lookers Glasgow in April 2021 - paid in full before date of sale.
In trying to sell it last week I discovered it still had an ( erroneous ) finance debt HPI debt against it - from the time Taggarts Lookers bought the car back from their original new car buyer - I can't sell the car until it's cleared. Already lost one buyer resultantly. Worried that the outstanding is deterring other would be buyers too. Will see how long it takes Taggarts/Lookers to rectify the situ.
