From the moment we booked, to the very last goodbye, our stay was flawless! We loved every single second of being at this beautiful treehouse.
The personal welcome from Victoria at the start of our stay was lovely and all the staff couldn’t have been more friendly.
Everyone at the treehouse (and Cowdray Estate generally) works so hard to make sure you have a 5 star experience…it really is that!
We stayed a few nights with our children, then a few child free. I recommend both - family friendly but ideal as a couples escape from the world!
This place is truly heaven on earth and I can’t wait to book and return. Thank you all at the treehouses for a fantastic stay!!

We really had a wonderful time staying at the ‘Buzzard treehouse’ at Cowdray. Worth coming all the way from Belgium!

My wife, dog and I couldn’t have enjoyed our stay at Muntjac more, the house is finished to an exceptionally high standard and we found the bed, furnishings and facilities comfortable and straightforward to use. Victoria and Jane are excellent hosts, the information provided answered any questions we may have had. The surrounding area is stunning and we got all the food and drink we needed from the farm shop (also excellent). It’s very likely we’ll return as our short stay certainly exceeded our expectations.

This is a really tranquil and beautiful place to stay. I'd read the reviews and knew that my family would love it here so we saved up to visit over the May half term. It did not disappoint: We loved the little touches such as the chess and backgammon set for those rainy days and the blankets and binoculars left by the balcony; my son and I loved using them to identify different birds nestled in the trees and we even spotted a muntjac deer rustling around below the balcony.
One of the team recommended a lovely park to take the kids to in the morning and took the time to message the directions to us in case we forgot. We had a delicious breakfast at the Cowdray Cafe one morning and followed the directions in the guest book for a picturesque walk to the Royal oak pub.
The electric buggy was a great way to get around the estate.
One day it rained so much that we put the rain covers down at the side for some protection against the rain. Coming out of the forest, the estate is flat and open so the wind really picks up. On one occasion the wind was so strong it blew under the rain cover and the side of the rain cover took off! We didn't think too much of this at the time - the rain covers were certainly not brand new and we assumed that they must have been weakened by this kind of thing happening regularly, but we made a note to let one of the team know.
When we explained how the rain cover had come off to the host she said she would let her operations manager know. However, when we got home we received an email letting us know that we were being charged £150 for the damage. The e mail also suggested that we should be grateful that it was only £150 that we needed to pay because a new cover would have set us back £500!
We were really shocked and saddened by the email, especially as we had used the EV buggy as instructed in the Waiver form that we signed. At no point were we warned against the winds, as far as we were concerned we had used the buggy as instructed. I sent an email expressing my disappointment. The reply suggested that because we had not zipped up the covers it was our fault. (again, at no point were we told to zip up the covers)
This really was such a shame and really soured our memory of what had been a wonderful stay. It seemed such a very poor way to treat guests.

Everything about THR is perfect, the team, the buggy, the treehouse, and the setting. A truly magical place. Thanks so much for having us, we loved it!

We have just returned from an amazing stay.
It started with a wonderful welcome and the fun of driving a buggy to our treehouse.
The treehouse was in a relaxing setting and had everything you could possibly need. It was so relaxing sitting on the balcony reading a book and enjoying the outdoor bath.
There are lovely walks often ending up in the estate cafe. The farm shop is fabulous and we enjoyed a few treats - especially the lemon tart.
We cannot wait to return.

An absolutely wonderful experience. We watched a pair of nuthatches feeding their young straight in front of us in the canopy. Loved the golf buggy and had great fun driving around in it. The outdoor soaktub was gorgeous and we used it both nights we were there looking up at the stars through the leaves. Highly recommend.

From start to finish the whole experience was wonderful. Victoria contacted us before we arrived, met us on arrival and showed us to our treehouse escape. She spent time to make sure we were familiar with everything in the treehouse and surrounding area. Everything was spotless, excellent quality and well cared for. Our only problem was there wasn’t a welcome hamper, as mentioned on the website and by other reviewers. This meant that I didn’t bring as many self catering items as I needed because I thought they were being provided in the hamper. Thankfully there was milk and juice in the fridge and tea and coffee provided, so we managed.

We had a fantastic weekend as a family of 4.
The treehouse is secluded and quiet but with luxury touches and high end equipment.
The team are on hand via WhatsApp throughout the stay, and we're responsive and helpful.
The farm shop is absurdly good - budget to spend a lot of money in there.
And finally the grounds are beautiful - we caught a polo competition on Saturday which the kids loved.

Such a fabulous stay, we loved everything, the cheese platter, steak night, the views….it was just so wonderful. The outdoor bath was so relaxing just looking up at the trees and sky. Check in was super easy and we had everything we needed for an amazing weekend. Thank you so much and we’ll definitely be back!

A lovely and relaxing two night stay in beautiful surrounding. The treehouse had everything and more. The personal touches made it a fantastic experience - treats for the dog, a voucher for the farm shop. Victoria was amazing and there to meet and help us transport our luggage to the treehouse. Looking forward to staying again

2nd visit and just as wonderful. Beautiful setting and surrounded by amenities that meant we didn't have to pack the kitchen sink! Is becoming a perfect annual 2 night getaway. Our dog loves the golf buggy rides too!

We loved Treehouse retreats - everything about the treehouse felt premium from the Le Creuset pans to the beautiful bathroom, lounge and bedroom to the outside bath on the large veranda.
I could have stayed for a week, I can honestly say that I truly relaxed whilst I was there and everyone at THR were super helpful … we are definitely looking to go back soon and the setting on the Cowdray Park estate felt quite magical.

The location is amazing, the treehouses are beautifully and thoughtfully designed with lots of great touches. Lovely estate, easy to get around in the electric golf buggy and loved the eco focus. Staff incredibly helpful (Victoria). One downside is that I only found the birdwatching binoculars on the morning of our departure!

We had a really lovely 2 night stay. The treehouses are beautiful & the right balance of priovacy whilst still being close enough to pubs, walks etc.
The team were also fantastic. 100% recommend.

We had a lovely break at Treehouse Retreats. We stayed in Chukka which has views through the trees of the ruins. We enjoyed the hot bath on the terrace which kept really warm even though it was cold. The buggy was fun. Lovely setting and great location. We went to Petworth and visited the coast for a walk. We also booked yoga and sound bath session at the Cowdray Hall which was excellent.

Such a lovely tranquil spot. Perfect for a relaxing getaway. Beautiful accommodation with every detail well thought out. Fantastic farm shop. Very helpful staff. Wonderful for walks. The only negative the incredibly uncomfortable seating in the living room

Myself, my 3 boys & our puppy came to stay in Muntjac for 2 nights and had the most wonderful experience! They said it was one of their best holidays and they have been to some pretty special places before. We loved the electric buggy, walking in the woods and exploring the surroundings on nice walks. There’s even a dairy farm nearby where you can make your own milkshakes and visit the cows.
The treehouse itself was very luxurious, had everything you needed to make food in the kitchen. The outdoor bathtub was fun even though it was cold outside, the kids loved it!
We will definitely come back and would highly recommend Treehouse retreats to friends!
