This supermarket has a self-checkout system in its stores. The problem I often encounter is that the store staff in Utrecht often check my purchases, sometimes even rudely. It's really annoying. g.h

Food order dropped on sidewalk. Rude staff.
After 2 weeks wait for our order to be delivered, I heard a loud crash outside our house which is on the main street of our city. I looked out the window and there was our food and supplies spread over the side walk. Fruit and veggies rolling in the wind. The delivery man was quickly picking things up and throwing them back into the crates. Four crates had fallen off the hand truck. When I opened the door he came and said that will be €214. I was uneasy about accepting the load and he said if I didn’t they would charge me €50. I mentioned contamination and he said I had no idea as to how many dirty hands had touched the food before it gets delivered. After some unpleasant words, we refused to accept, and my Dutch wife called AH and they were rude and unsympathetic. We have always enjoyed the quality of products but this ends our relation with this store.

It is not easy to run errands during this time.
According to advice, I try to follow the rules neatly to avoid the risk of infection for people.
I clean the baskets upon entering with the disinfectant spray that has been placed at the entrance.
I keep neatly 1.5m (or more) away and try not to get in the way of people. we have to do it together.
during my visit to the albert heijn on the wester market, the self-scans were almost empty because there were no bags with the scans. The queue for the only cash register that was open on Sunday afternoon was long. when I asked the cashier for a bag, she indicated that I could pick it up at the service desk, where there was also a line of people who had to pick up a bag.
There was still a large bag at the checkout, because these are expensive, I prefer not to take them, but I also do not want to stay in the crowds, so i took it to scan it. After scanning everything and putting the basket back neatly (so the guard doesn't have to do this) I get a rude and somewhat aggressive note from the cashier why I grabbed the bag hanging by the treadmill (no idea I couldn't grab it). I would have understood if she had said and explained it to me in a normal way that i made a mistake but the personal and aggressive way she spoke to me is unbelievable for customer service in an albert heijn. I understand why people change supermarkt
AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST!!
AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST!!
I had a scheduled interview concerning the "Filling shelves Employee" position at AH Rembrandthof.
I arrived at AH Rembrandthof and reported that I'm there.
After few minutes the manager arrived to pick me up, her name was Jolanda Koekoek (according to email confirmation),
I greeted her and she immediately asked me if I speak only English.
I said yes, after which she replied "This position is only for Dutch speaking" You need to talk to customers."
She obviously had no idea what I tried to tell her. Why would you need to talk to customers when you are filling shelves and unloading trucks?
I tried to find out the reason, but it was obvious that she can barely speak English.
ON TOP OF THAT,
Not only that I mentioned in my CV that I don't speak Dutch fluently, I also called them before the interview since I wanted to make sure that if it's fine that I don't speak Dutch and I was confirmed that this position is OK without English contrary to Seller position.
The worst experience with the interview.
Very rude and unprofessional behaviour.
Staff also very cold. Highly don't recommend!
If you want to work for Albert Heijn, choose a different store!

Managers should care more about helping their clients and ensuring food safety and hygiene inside the shop. Quality of products or packaging should not decrease. Clients will notice.
Although AH is one of the most popular…
Although AH is one of the most popular stores in NL, it is also very expensive. The cost difference between AH basic products and other products is huge. When compared with Jumbo and Deen, the same products at AH are very expensive. Besides this, they still have great vareity of products as compared to other stores out there.
The quality is getting lower and lower…
The quality is getting lower and lower , fake discounts or very little , the offers often shows a discount if you buy 2 pieces of the same product covering the original label and often the discount is only 5 cent , bread is entirely frozen but they pretend to be fresh baking it in store and covering the frozen dough with plastic bags , the staff are rude but look that they have been training so because they all use the same way walking aggressively and pushing with some sort of angry face and never ever apologies .
Unfortunately this is very common in Amsterdam in every supermarket

There was a mistake in the website and somehow I was going to get the exact same set of groceries 2 times in 24 hours. AH charged me 50 euros to correct this mistake. I tried to talk with their customer service, but they charge customers for clear mistakes in their website. I have canceled my service with them as a result.

I shop weekly at our local AH in the Helmerhoek and have the odd disappointment with the freshness of fruit, but that's not the point of this unhappy review. I bought a salmon and egg wrap WELL! Firstly it was not a wrap, but a pancake filled with egg and lettuce and only 20c of salmon! Very disappointed AH regular 😩

AH-Seinhorst, Hilversum
AH-Seinhorst in Hilversum. Bad store management, dirty store, overdue fresh products in compartments, no knowledge about country wide discounts on a web site print out and even called as liars. Most of the store personnel are confirming the store management problems but they are also telling there is nothing they can do. We had too many times contact with customer service about this but now it is enough, we are changing over to other rival brand chain.
Awesome online groceries ordering
Awesome online groceries ordering! They have always been on time and never missed something.
Shocking service
Shocking service. Firstly, you can only pay with Mastercard/Maestro cards, Visa is NOT accepted, and secondly, some of the stores will not even take cash. This is not good service to tourists who may not know this. Shop elsewhere rather, where cash or your Visa card is welcome.
Big store but small town attitude and service at my local AH
As a person of colour from another country I don't feel like my presence is welcome in my local AH.
When issuing a valid complaint where damage was done by an employee on my personal property after being insulted by another employee the manager refused to hear my complaint and hung the phone up in my face.
I had to take time from my working day to call customer service again.
Waiting for a reply and solution for ,a for me a very traumatic experience.
I have issued numerous complaints about the service and attitude of their employees and the numerous faults with the receipt.
You always have to control your receipt to make sure your bonus is taken off.
So far the only AH I have ever been in that does that.
They are also very dog unfriendly even if you take your dog in a closed buggy in the shopping centre and not in the actual food shop.
They say nothing when loose dogs or other large barking dogs come in though. And use the excuse that customer complain when my tiny dogs bark while I am in the store for 10 minutes to not allow me in the shopping centre. If they bark it is because people are tapping on their buggy because they think it is a zoo and they don't bark continually.
But like I mentioned if the lines are not long( which they often are) I am not longer than 10-15 minutes in the shop.
I don't feel it is a friendly place to go,so I go out of necessity because there is only one other AH and it is far away and I am over 65 and in bad health ,so getting to shops is a problem.
I feel if anyone complains it is the bored employees who don't like the fact that I am a aware consumer and decided to have a bit of fun on my account last Saturday.
A little bit of social training and community spirit would be a good idea for that AH.
How can a manager condone an employee touching and breaking a clients personal property and then believing a kid when they say they were just "trying to help",when number 1 I was standing not even a meter away from my buggy, and when I had to leave the line and asked him politely to stop he continued to grab and pull on the zipper of the buggy!
4 days later I am still upset especially by having the phone slammed down on me by a so-called manager, not because I raised my voice but because he simply did not want to offer a solution to my damages and it seems already made up his mind that this foreigner had to go.Sad,especially in these days and times.
