Airbnb

This is my first time hosting with Airbnb, and although I have found your customer service very good I am disgusted with the guests that have stayed in my home. I came to visit my home that I opened up so that people could enjoy our wonderful beach area in the Outer Banks.
In doing this, I came home to find that my home has been robbed blind and TV's, DVD players, game systems and dishes broken. In addition, I have had artwork stolen, I had pots and pans stolen. Someone even broke a picture frame and just left it on the floor.
Is this what our society has become? Extend your hand and let it be bitten. I am appalled at how our society has become so disrespectful of other's property. To also think that you can come into someone's home and just take what you like. I am so disgusted

Absolutely incompetent.

The public relations team is absolutely incompetent. They effectively stole $80 from me by canceling the co-hosts program with no notice given.
The program that allowed third parties to be paid a small fee by customers for helping an owner host them was canceled on August 1st of 2018. The ONLY notice sent was an email on June 27th, before I even started co-hosting.
A company that cared about its users would give proper notice that people will no longer be paid for their work, not pretend having sent a single email 2 months ago to some of its userbase is enough.

Support is the usual copy-paste joke and the app is poorly coded.

All Airbnb staff I have had contact with SUCKS

Everyone on the Airbnb staff SUCKS. I have been waiting 48hrs for a response from their "Specialist" to call me regarding why I can't process a booking yet they can take my money. Why is it easier to book an airline than a place to stay the night. Loosing my service for good. I would rather pay the extra money and not have to deal with this bullcrap.

UNTRUSTHWORTY COMPANY !!

UNTRUSTHWORTY COMPANY !!! Just interested in your money - does not take responsibility of anything. Are you unlycky you can end up at your vacationrental and find out that it is doublebooked and you and your family have nowhere to stay the night. At this cowded touristtown everything was booked. It ended with us sleeping outdoors that night and with small children it was both freightening and uncomfortable, The next day we managed to get a flight home. No compensation from AirBnb that was responsible for the double booking. We did not even get our money back !!! Never AirBnb again ! Will use good old trusthworthy hotels.
A BIG WARNING - DONT BOOCK WITH THEM !!!!!

Airbnb. Unreliable Liars.

i have called airbnb about a customer trying to book my property for three people, four nights. the person has paid for one person. i have called airbnb so many times iv'e lost count, until today a new person from airbnb told me a case hadn't even been opened. 10 days after calling several times every day. Today i was on gold for 47 minutes until i hung up.
The people that work for airbnb, what they say and do are two totally different things, they constantly lie just to get you off the phone.

i will be deleting my account and going with a trusted company such as City Relay, who do EVERYTHING for you, including cleaning.

I booked a home in Malibu…

I booked a home in Malibu California. The page stated that there was a 48 hour cancellation policy. I cancelled 30 hours after booking. Only after I cancelled was I told that I had to cancel 14 days prior to the reservation. Air bnb cannot state a 48 hour cancellation policy on reservations booked 14 days or less to check in. It is simply disingenuous and misleading to customers and allows hosts and air bnb to take money from innocent people. I contacted air bnb via phone and got placed on hold for 5 minutes and then was disconnected. This happened twice. The resolution center is inefficient and connects me to the host who ignores my requests for a refund. This fraudeulent claim of a full refund must be changed on the site. Not a good business model to have false claims on your website to lure in customers and keep their money. I will be contacting the BBB.

If I could give them a zero star I…

If I could give them a zero star I would. I had signed up as a host. Went through the entire process. Within minutes of my posting I got a request for the next day. I accepted. The next day I'm getting ready for my guest. I try to log onto the app and it tells me that for security reasons my account was locked and that someone would reach out to me. No one never reached out. I found a number to call them. The support rep wasn't able to assist me. He escalated the ticket with hopes of getting the issue resolved. Unknown to me Airbnb had cancelled the guest reservation. The guest knowing this came to my house anyway. I had no knowledge of the cancellation so yes I welcomed them into my home. They knew. Airbnb gave them a credit and refused to pay me for the stay. Be weary of such tactics from Airbnb. Yes, I feel that I'm owed because the guest came. Both parties were very wrong Airbnb and the guest. I wouldn't reopen the account for no amount of money.

the website functions poorly or not at all. in my case i was unable to make a payment as there was no button to continue to that page. i tried for a a couple hours to reach airbnb help. impossible. only via their non-fuctioning website page on help center that doesn't let you upload anything, it just spins and spins... i tried two different browsers and computers. a day later i'm still trying. they sent me a 2 sentence email. second sentence had only 4 words and was incomplete so no help there. i tired a third browser to make the reservation again but the unit is no longer available for the dates that i need.

People beware!! do not use airbnb for your next vacation.

People beware!! do not use airbnb to look for a place for your next vacation. I am a host and I cannot tell you how dissapointed I am about airbnb I have two reservations and all a sudden airbnb cancelled them, their reason, they said I don't have 5 stars on my rating, how can u get 5 stars if you just listed your property. Talking to the people that made the reservation, I found out the reason, airbnb was trying to find another place for them for a lot higher rent than what I'm asking, of course more money from the guests more money for airbnb. some of the people that made the reservation are going to attend the wedding in a couple of weeks and they are left out without a place to stay. Even though we begged them to let the reservation go through they will not do it. Not to mention that they are cheating us on the money that were supposed to get. Its time for me to cancell my contract with them and go with homeaway.com and booking.com.

Lack of Policies or Standards Beware!!! 0 stars!!

AirBNB,
To say the least I am disgusted that I spent my hard earned money with your organization. My experience Friday at my “check-in” just goes to show your lack of standards, quality, and policies. My check-in time was 3:00 PM, I arrived at 2:56 PM, so I was in no way unexpected, catching the homeowner at a “bad time.”
My concerns and ultimately the reasons I left to find other accommodations are as follows:
1. We were politely asked to utilize street parking my Brenda to avoid Driveway issues. I can totally appreciate this sentiment. When I pulled up to the Hoarder’s Paradise I would be residing at (the photos were quite deceiving), there was absolutely no ability to obtain any street parking. The single driveway had weeds and what may have been a garden over growing on to it. The garage ahead was overflowing onto the driveway (where the tarp that the bikes and other “amenities” were apparently located it a totally unkempt fashion).
2. Despite my immediate and strong reservations I walked up to ring the bottom doorbell as instructed by Brenda. Unfortunately for our host the windows were open so I immediately heard the yelling, arguing, and profanities about my presence at the front door. The conversation regarding answer the “f***ing front door a**hole” “what the f*** is your problem.” “you f***ing idiot there’s someone at the door.” Something I couldn’t quite make out, then “a**hole don’t talk to me like that.” At which point a sweaty young man answered the door.
3. The “Private Entrance” as described was the front foyer of the house with a set of “locked” double French doors to where the hosts (who were just losing it) lived. Which just goes to show that AirBnB allows their hosts a great degree of liberty is their accommodations/descriptions.
4. Again I did not arrive early or unexpected – so I was in quite a bit of shock to discover that they were currently working on the area, installing out window unit for the advertised “AC”. Again lots of liberty with those descriptions! Please say window unit. Why this wasn’t done early or the day prior in expectation of our 3:00 PM arrival, I can’t quite figure out.
5. At some point when the “amenities” or lack thereof were being described to me, and the “energy efficiency,” or again lack thereof, rules were being explained to me in copious detail – I just tuned out.
6. Ultimately the description and accommodations were advertised quite differently than the run down establishment I arrived at.
I will never use AirBnB again. I want my money refunded. And I should demand that AirBnB compensate me for the accommodations I had to find that night. Your lack of standards and liberties you allow your hosts is atrocious.
Thanks for
an almost ruined weekend!

After 2 years no problems.

I host using the Airbnb platform.
My premises is in Tokoname City Japan.
Soon it will be 3 years since I started - everything runs smoothly and the rare time I do have a problem their online staff are always quick to respond and help me with the problem.
I see AIRBNB has many negative comments but all I can make are positive comments!

if i could give them a less stars I would. Absolutely no care about their customers who pay for their service! I paid $1838 for a month at a home in FL and got a filthy roach infested home with no running air conditioning, no running water, and nothing but excuses by airbnb and owner once I left and asked for a partial refund. Never again will I ever do business with them again!

Do not trust AirBnb

Do not trust AirBnb. Last year, deliberately early, I reserved an apt in Vancouver BC for mid July, the most popular time of year for that city. At that time I had many choices. Timeline:
Sept 28th, 2017 - booked an apt in Kitsilano area of Vanvcouver
Dec 23rd. 2017 - owner cancelled
Dec 27th, 2017 - booked another apt
Apr 22nd, 2018 - owner cancelled
At this point, there are hardly any choices in Vancouver, unless I am willing to pay double. How can I ever trust AirBnb again? What if I rent a third time and the owner cancels a day before my flight from San Francisco? If I could sue AirBnb for damages, I would.

Nasty, awful mess...

I made reservations on AirBnb a year in advance for a place in New Orleans. They required full payment in advance...$4500. Three months later I got a computer notification that my reservation had been unilaterally cancelled.

Although they are crediting the full amount, they are crediting it to my credit card and I had already paid off the charge. So my credit card finances are all screwed up until I make charges in the amount credited.

I E Mailed and asked if they could send me a check instead but heard no answer.

I will avoid AirBnb forever and use other, more reputable companies like HomeAway and VRBO instead.

BUYER BEWARE USING AIRBNB

BUYER BEWARE USING AIRBNB. The postings in many cases are not accurate. The pictures in our airbnb listing were not accurate, nor was the apartment clean in most areas. The pictures showed the original entrance as what is now the bedroom. The long back entrance to the apartment was COVERED IN LEAVES AND DIRT. Not a great beginning to a long trip. Owner was attentive enough, but we were exhausted from a long trip and traffic and he insisted on coming in, meeting the dogs, and asking us if we needed anything, 24-7. I understand he wanted to meet us and our dogs, but we assured him they were small dogs and we had a crate to keep them in while we were not at the apartment. We were shocked at the entrance and how awful it looked, but did not know the extent of the awfulness until we were left alone and saw the stove, the back deck and general drab and dreariness of the apartment. It had obviously been switched significantly from the pictures in the airbnb listing. The stove was almost nauseating. We had planned to make breakfast and have guests, but that was not happening in this apartment. There was no table at ALL to even eat on inside the apartment, and the outside table, though the weather was wonderful, was not fit for homeless people, let alone close family members. We could not stand to be in this badly lit apartment any longer than we had to. Our poor dogs suffered for it as we were true to our commitment to keeping them crated while we were away. We came home late both nights that we were there and nearly tripped in the badly lit area. We could not stand to be in this apartment one second. We are airbnb hosts ourselves and know how important it is for us that our guests are met with a great first impression. This was NOT our first horrible experience with airbnb but it will be our last. we will not use them again for another vacation rental. We were very excited about the airbnb concept but cannot trust the reviews that are on the listings

The Folly Beach Dump Charleston NC - Yet still supported by AirBnB

Rented a house by Folly Beach Charleston NC from Jason through Airbnb. Had two bedrooms open, a fenced in yard, pool table and was dog friendly. I responded to all of Jason's concerns regarding the dogs I was bringing - he seemed to care about maintaining the condition of the house. A $100 a night each - I thought: ok I can respect that this person wants to make sure his house isn't trashed. He wouldn't put me through all this Q&A if the place was a mess, plus Jason seems so nice. Right?

Fast forward to arrival with two dogs and no other choices for the weekend......The house was a absolute dump. Beyond the black mold growing on the showers, the shower handles falling off, the beds supported by cider blocks, the broken door locks, the upside down pool table & the overgrown broken down sort of fenced in backyard, the condition of the floors, the couches, the walls and the overall furniture was such that my dogs could NOT have ruined anything if they tried. I proposed to stay for 1/2 price - because where else would I go with 2 dogs after driving 5 hours to get there for a long weekend. I provided pictures and justification while maintaining a very positive approach. That is when Jason went silent. So I attempted to work through Airbnb - that ended in nothing of value. Why? because when I did contact them they said they never received the complaint. When I tried again they said I had to do the compliant within 24 hrs of arriving. Seriously????
When I was on another trip using Airbnb and the owner cancelled our reservation last minute, Airbnb did nothing!.

I had two dogs with me. Plus I wasn't saying NO fee, I was just saying for the dump the house was worth $50 a night. I wanted 1/2 my payment back. Integrity is not valued by Jason I guess. Nor is it supported by Airbnb. I'm now stuck paying full price for what was clearly a misleading advertisement.

It is apparent that Airbnb does not vet their partners nor the prices those people charge for the crap they put out there.

This is too bad because I love the idea of Airbnb
