Great experience

Great experience. Gabrielle is an absolute credit to your company. Funny, interactive and made the day to remember. The pilot Barry however was beyond flippant and arrogant. From belittling customers and colleagues, he made it an uncomfortable experience and should be kept away from customers in my opinion.

Fabulous balloon flight from Taunton …

Fabulous balloon flight from Taunton on a perfect evening. Very professional team (Barry, Chris & Doc) who quickly got everyone involved and made for a most enjoyable experience.
Excellent running commentary from Barry, with plenty of anecdotes and champagne after the flight.
Can’t praise this team highly enough!

Fantastic ballooning experience

Booked this for my husband's birthday as he had always wanted to go up in a hot air balloon. Booking was fine. First weekday attempt was cancelled due to bad flying weather. We were offered a second attempt on a weekend which was cancelled at the last minute due to bad flying weather. This cannot be helped as it is better to be safe.
We were offered various other dates in July, however as we live in London it was difficult to organise at the last minute. Customer service was always good and helpful at all points. I'm glad I stayed with this company rather than move my voucher to a different one with locations closer to London.
When we did fly on our third attempt in Bath, the experience was amazing. We helped out with getting the balloon ready which was fun and the ride itself was magical. We finished with glasses of champagne and a lovely day out in Bath. Thank you to Aerosaurus for helping us book.

I booked a flight for me and my partner…

I booked a flight for me and my partner and we booked a days flight which was cancelled due to bad weather.
My partners dad was then in hospital for a long time and when he came out he needs constant care so its incredibly difficult to get him looked after.
I explained this to the company but they refused to give a refund and i was told they had stopped flying in my area anyway and i had two weeks in april to possibly book another flight.
I have randomly phoned the weather line and all the flights are always cancelled.
I feel i have wasted £300!

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, we do feel that reviews are a great way for customers to understand a company and as such should be honest and accurate.
We are sorry you feel that we have let you down on this occasion.
You purchased 2 nonrefundable weekday flying vouchers in April this year to the value of £250, we do also offer the option for a refundable voucher, all our vouchers have a 12-month validity from date of purchase, this is to encompass 1 full flying season which runs from April – October (weather permitting).
We do make this very clear in our terms and conditions and in your confirmation emails and letters that would have been sent to you at the time of purchase.
After purchasing your vouchers, you made 1 attempt to fly in May and then we have not heard from you since then, until now.
Your voucher has been valid for the majority of this year’s flying season and we have had flights operating daily through the summer months, unfortunately you have come to us at the end of the season and we have no availability in the last week of our flying season in your chosen area.
Despite sending multiple emails and texts to you over the last 6 months we have heard nothing as to your situation or availability for flights, in total we have sent you over 20 emails and text messages offering spaces on flights and sharing our flight availability with you.
We do only cancel flights after careful consideration and the analysis of Met Office reports, and now in October as we have had so much rain recently, we also have the ground conditions to think about.
To make the comment “I have randomly phoned the weather line and all the flights are always cancelled.” when you have only had one cancellation seems a little unfair.
We only cancel with the safety of our passengers in mind as we pride ourselves on our safety records here at Aerosaurus Balloons.
We appreciate it is frustrating to have had a cancellation due to the weather but hot air ballooning is a weather dependent activity this is why we offer the vouchers with a 12 month validity, to allow for you to make the most of the flying season.
We also offer a very fair 5 cancellation policy whereby if you are unlucky and have 5 weather cancellations within the validity of your voucher then we will extend your voucher free of charge on a month by month basis.
You called our office today to ask for a full refund on a voucher that is nonrefundable and has only 1 month left of April next flying season, again this seems a little unfair as we have upheld our end of the agreement when you purchased the vouchers and have had flights running daily for you to utilise through the season. You were advised by our team that your voucher was nonrefundable, you then requested to speak to one of our Directors who unfortunately at that moment was not available however, a message was taken with your complaint regarding your request for a full refund. Sadly, within minutes of this phone call you left this review before we could even pass your complaint along and review your situation.
Our Director would have reviewed your case and situation and come back to you promptly, but you did not give them the chance to do so, again this seems a little unfair.
We are a family run business that has won awards for customer care and take every negative review or complaint very seriously. We have been flying passengers in the South West for over 20 years and are the largest independent ballooning company in this area with 9 balloons scheduling flights daily from April to October flying many thousands of passengers each season.
We feel that our terms are very fair as vouchers do not run indefinitely.
We do try and help passengers where we can, but if we do not know about any issues then there is not much we can do to help after the fact.
Your voucher is still valid until end of April next flying season, we hope you will be able to find the time to book in and fly with us before then.

Would not extend voucher after cancer diagnosis

I booked a voucher on 4th Aug 2018 and reserved two flights shortly after to coincide with my parents’ trip to Devon. Both flights were cancelled due to poor weather in August 2018. We were assured that we could rebook from March/April the following year.

Subsequently, my father has recently been diagnosed with a carcinoma skin cancer on his head. He had surgery last week to remove the tumour. My mother also in the last month started taking a medication for her mobility issues.

Having spoken to THREE customer services representatives today, they were all either unhelpful or actually incredibly rude. We were told that the deadline for flights to be used is one year to the day after booking. This is regardless of extenuating circumstances or medical issues, EVEN THOUGH THEY CANCELLED THE ORIGINAL FLIGHTS.

To sum, my parents are recovering from cancer and hypermobility respectively, and the company will NOT offer an extension on time to use up the flights. They refused to consider an extension even though neither parent is able to fly yet. Remember, they cancelled the two flights they were booked on due to weather. But cancer is not seen as deserving of an extension. My parents still want to fly, and can provide GP and consultant letters as proof of medical care. This was still refused.

Awful customer services, this company should be ASHAMED of itself. I spent almost £300 trying to treat my parents, and because they cancelled the flights and then my father got cancer, they can’t use the flights in time before the voucher runs out. How lacking in basic humanity and compassion.

Wow-What an experience!

What an experience- great from start to finish. Even though the English weather let us down a couple of times, the office staff and the re-booking porcess was simple and professional. The flight was amazing with such a fab pilot Clive and the crew John and Rose. All finished off with Champagne watching the sun go down!

It is an absolute must do!!

Maybe search for other companies that care a bit more..

I'll hold my hands up here. I purchased a balloon voucher for my parent’s Golden Wedding anniversary, passing on the vouchers to them. I live abroad, and my parents has a busy summer and they never got round to booking their flight before the end of the season. I never communicated clearly to them it was only valid for 12 months, (actually the season is from April to October – 7 months – so vouchers are only actually valid for 7 months if you buy it in March) and if they didn’t book I would lose nearly the £300 I paid. Apart from the 7 vs 12 month, this was totally my mistake.

What I was disappointed in was the stance of the company, and I see it in other comments here.
Once they have your money, that is it.
I didn’t waste any of their time or money with a no-show booking. They have just banked my £270 for free!
They are not interested in offering a discount on another booking, or trying to help, even just to make me feel a little bit better about their company.
So here I am, on a review site, saying that maybe their trips are ok, (or maybe not) but I personally I would hunt around for other companies that might have you or your loved ones special experience a little bit closer to heart, and care more about their customers who are paying a significant amount of money.

They change the time and you loose your tickets!

Early in October I was due to attend a balloon flight which was booked for the afternoon. On the day I received an email with a change of time for the flight which I was unable to attend so I replied to the email stating that I would need to re-book another time. As this was a Sunday the company claimed that they did not receive emails and the whole flight had to be cancelled because I didn't show up and therefore my tickets were now voided. I am somewhat aghast that an organisation sends emails to change details but does not monitor them in this day and age when most of society has moved to the ability to access emails remotely - "Aerosaurus" more like "Dinosaurus". It was the company that changed the flight time not me and to cancel my tickets as a result of a change they made is a disgrace particularly as they were notified within minutes in writing of the change in time via email.

I am sympathetic to the changes in flights for balooning etc because of weather but this cannot be at the sole discretion of the company. In short, I wouldn't bother booking with them as they can change things how they want to and will just take your money and provide no benefit.

Before writing this review I wrote to the company if they would reconsider to which they are yet to respond. Yet again ignoring correspondence. I suggest paying a little more and going with a more professional outfit.

A memorable experience

Great service, really appreciated the text message reminders of available bookings, friendly staff on phone and good weather info line prior to flight. During flight pilot and ground crew were first class, capable confident and friendly.

Thoroughly enjoyed the flight itself, been wanting to do this for ages and wasn't dissappointed, super from start to finish and will do it again.

What a way to start a day... brill !

The whole experience was a delight - and totally worth getting up at 5! Gathering as the sun rose, helping to prepare and inflate the balloon, lifting off and floating above the beautiful Somerset countryside at varying heights - seeing foxes, pheasants, cattle and sheep starting their day, and dinky toy cars, lorries and tractors . Champagne at 2,000 feet felt very decadent - even in a plastic cup! The lovely pilot and crew balanced a super level of professionalism and having everything right and safe with a friendly manner sharing our enjoyment. Landing, pack up and being brought back to launch site completed the experience - and we were certified!
A really wonderful 60th birthday gift - and better than the one I had when I was 50!
Thank you Aerosaurus - I feel sure we'll fly with you again,

Absolutely first class!!

My husband & I were given this gift from our boss for Christmas & despite lots of weather cancellations we finally went up in August this year & it really was fantastic!!! From start to finish we were involved with putting up & down & the actual flight was amazing!!! If you've never done it then you must go.....you'll never forget it!!!

As we explain, you get more sensation of height stood on a kitchen table than you do in a hot air balloon basket at 2,000 feet. You can stand a glass of champagne (OK plastic, for safety reasons) on the side of the basket & not spill a drop, its that smooth & still. Any chance you/we can talk your wife into flying the next time?

THIS WAS A BIRTHDAY PRESENT FROM MY DAUGHTER AND HAVING NEVER BEEN UP IN A HOT AIR BALLOON BEFORE THIS WAS A BRILLIANT EXPERIENCE. IT WAS GREAT FUN FROM START TO FINNISH AND THE PILOT AND STAFF ARE EXCELLENT, THEY MADE IT A GREAT FUN EVENING, I WOULD RECOMMEND IT TO ANY ONE.

An experience never to be forgotten

I was given the balloon trip as a birthday present from my daughter. She also paid for her father, so we both shared the experience. It took many bookings to actually get off the ground due to the terible British weather, but at last, one afternoon we all met at Tiverton and all systems were go.At the field where the flight was to be released, we took part in opening and laying out the ballooon prior to inflating. I was amazed at the extent of it laid out, we were told it was over 100ft in height!. The inflation was in process when we were told how to clamber aboard in our designated compartments in the basket. We all had a great laugh getting aboard as it is not as easy as you would think, no physical difficulty just awkward to approach. Time came when the balloon was ready and without any more delay we were up, up and away. It was exhilarating, the scenery was stupendous as was the sun setting in the west. I was not prepared for such a wonderful experience and all too soon, it was sadly time to descend. The flying time went by so quickly and was so much fun, I would say to anyone thinking about booking a flight, get on the phone and book it. Aerosaurus Balloons were excellent. Before, during and after landing they kept you fully informed and the whole crew were so professional, just go for it.

Perfect and dreamlike - despite being petrified of heights!!!

I was truly petrified when I booked the flight for my husbands 50th birthday, right up until the day, I was still apprehensive. When we got to the meeting point, the truck arrived with the huge basket and everybody (there were 16 of us altogether) helped pull the balloon out and set it up. It was amazing watching the balloon slowly being filled with air and I got some fantastic photos of the whole thing, even sneaking in a few of inside of the balloon! Once the balloon was up and we were ready to get in the basket, I was feeling a bit dubious because of my fear of heights but we got in and the balloon started to rise.....it didn't feel like the same feeling I get when i've been scared of heights....it felt like I was just standing on the ground. As we got a little higher I just started taking photos and feeling completely safe because there was no movement and the pilot was just telling us information about balloons and his experiences, information about the surrounding area and we were all just totally in awe of the beauty of the landscape from up there. It was a truly awesome experience and we now plan to do it again next year hopefully, and I expect we'll do it again and again after that! I'd recommend it to everyone, for a gift or just for yourself, you've just got to experience it!!!

Flight of Fancy

Having wanted to fly in a balloon for many years the experience surpassed all my expectations. I originally purchased a ticket for my husband as a gift, but then decided to join him and am so glad I did.

We were lucky enough to have fantastically hot weather and there was no need for jumpers or jackets. My only regret was that we were unable to set off from Salisbury, where our children would loved to have seen us take off. Unfortunately weather conditions dictated we had to fly from Dinton and as the winds were very light it was a little disappointing we did not travel very far. However the flight itself was magical and we would certainly go again. Our Pilot, Dee, was very entertaining and knowledgeable of all aspects of Balloon flight and we felt in the safest of hands. We even had a perfect landing with the basket remaining upright!! Thanks Aerosaurus for an unforgettable experience and you will hear from us again.

Perfect birthday gift.

I had my balloon flight as a 60th Birthday gift from my daughter. We had 4 previous attempts that were cancelled due to the bad weather this summer, but finally got a beautiful day with a very light breeze. We flew from near Shaftesbury with pilot Dee, who was very nice and an obvious expert at ballooning. We gently floated up to 2500 feet. It was like looking over a balcony at the lovely countryside below. We all enjoyed champagne and then were taught how to stand for the landing. We landed safely and without harm, but all lying on our backs as the basket tipped onto its side. Everyone found this rather funny as we clambered out onto the grass. I would definitely go again given the chance. Thanks Dee and the crew!
