Monnow Valley Studio
We rented this property for our Daughter’s 40th birthday celebration, and it did not disappoint
Such comments as “WOW”! “what a find” and “this place is amazing” were to be heard as the party turned up and explored. The bedrooms are individually styled and very comfortable, the kitchen is modern, huge and well equipped for large groups. The group loved the games and party rooms and as the weather was good we were able to enjoy the hot tub and have cosy chats outdoors.
The house has a wonderful history and has hosted many famous musicians over the years; this is reflected throughout the property in photographs, books and memorabilia all of which amplifies its’ charms, particularly for music lovers!
Our hosts Jo and Phil are lovely people and were on hand to sort out any little niggles. They also spent time with us sharing stories about their famous guests (all good of course!) and the history of the house.
Our family and friends enjoyed local walks and visited Monmouth and a cider mill.
Truly a memorable weekend at this charismatic property, we highly recommend it and hope to return one day.

Excellent venue for a family reunion, great owners who gave us a tour of the grounds, we met the amazing horses and saw where cider was made. We had caterers one evening and had a hot tub. Very relaxing time, would thoroughly recommend.

Pencraig Court will hold such a special place in my heart.
We had our wedding here at the beginning of September and it was just magical.
The house is so gorgeous, all our guests were blown away with it, as were we. There's ample of space and well equipped. The grounds are breath taking with the lovely view of the River Wye.
Anastasia & Gordon were incredibly helpful and nothing was too much trouble.
We will definitely be booking again to stay with everyone, we can't wait to come back.

A very nice house in a beautiful location. Comfortably and tastefully furnished with a particularly well appointed kitchen. I can recommend.

Hollytree House is a terrific house in a beautiful spot. River Wye just below, crags above, woods all around. Can't think of a better place to meet up with friends and have a fantastic three days. Loads of space and a particularly well equipped kitchen.

A very well-equipped, clean and comfortable house in a stunning location - perfect for a large get-together (11 old mates). Lots of good walking along the river and up to the Yat; good local cafes and pubs for eating. Very good communication with the letting agent, and very good value for money. Thank you for facilitating our stay; we had a great time!

What a fabulous house . Everything you needed and more . Age range was 82 down to a very messy 2 yr old . It had everything we needed to make our stay perfect . Very well presented and spotlessly clean . The games room was a great hit and well equipped kitchen . Panoramic views of the river wye and massive garden area to enjoy a b b q . Alison and the host Graham were perfect and helpful . Highly recommended . We are already planning our next family gathering there . Must do the canoeing and boat trip and for the days that you don't want to cook we were able to book a large table at very short notice at the next hotel 3 mins walk away .

We had such a lovely weekend at High Cloud Farm, celebrating a friend’s special birthday. The views were just stunning and the pool and games room a huge hit with the kids!

We booked Manor on the Monnow for a family holiday from 18th to 25th August 2023 as part of our Golden Wedding celebrations. There were 19 of us which included 10 children. The house was great. Clean and tidy but not so "posh" that we were afraid to give the children free range. Many games of Hide and Seek, announcements from the balcony above the Great Hall, and plenty of table space for the evening meal. We ate, Indian, Chinese, USA, Roast Chicken, Spanish, Mexican and Italian - all cooked in the kitchen which had plenty of equipment. Additionally, we celebrated my birthday, so the dining hall was splendidly decorated. One present was a hanging dinner bell so that resounded throughout the house before each mealtime. Some walked up Sugar Loaf, some walked by the river Wye, some canoed, some used the Hot Tub. Everyone used the Games Room at some point during the week. We all visited Monmouth and Symonds Yat. So many things left undone though. A fabulous week enjoyed by all 19 of us.

Fantastic weekend here at Monnow Valley Recording Studio for our wedding. My wife and I stayed here from 1/9-4/9 2023 with our families and had the most wonderful time. Jo & Phil were amazing!!! Very helpful, excellent communication and always a phone call or text away and did everything to make our wedding experience as enjoyable and relaxing as possible. The place itself is stunning, peaceful and full of character. We love our music so we fully embraced the history on Monnow Valley! Would certainly recommend staying here to anyone - you will have the best time!! 100% will come back at some stage in the future.

Orchard house was lovely well equipped for all your needs.games room was great in the annex.we had great fun the accessible bedroom /bathroom was great with shower seat .very clean and well presented would recommend we had a lovely weekend with friends and family 15 people of all ages was in our party and 3 dogs

Perfect house for a family holiday. We had 10 children between 2 and 12 years and 14 adults including great gran 89 years. Perfect ground floor bedroom for her.
Large lounge for gatherings, plenty of room at the dining table and the playroom was excellent.
The house was clean but not so perfect that we felt we had to watch the children all the time
The hot tub was popular, as was hide and seek
Kitchens were well supplied
Eastnor castle a great day out and compared to other days out very reasonably priced as well as the castle, there was a mud kitchen, playground and den building activities everybody loved it
Apart from the castle we didn’t need to go anywhere else the house kept the children amused with lots of imaginary games
We did go to a local playground with a MUGA for a family football match
We have a family holiday every year and this house has been the best so far

We loved this place! Full of character and quirkiness - some great hiding places for the kids and lovely large sitting and dining room for group gatherings. The hot tub is also a bonus, and lovely lawn for a game of boules. We were also blown away by Abergavenny - so beautiful, the market on Saturday morning was a great visit for all the family. Such a special weekend- thank you.

It was our 16th year for a big family get together. it comprised of Nan and Grandad, our three children plus other halves and six grandchildren. we have stayed all over the country. This year we chose Monnow Valley Studios as my husband and I have been aware of both it and Rockfield Recording Studios for many years, having been brought up in Monmouthshire. This holiday has surpased all the others. We all made good use of the studio with 4 electric guitars and drumkit plus the piano with many jamming sessions. We also ventured into the river Monnow for a very cold swim. I would not hesitate to reccommend this property for a fantastic holiday experience.

We are 6 families who are very close, but live in different areas of the country. We started meeting for this annual trip 20 years ago at various properties that we found as half way point, but it was only after we found BHHL property that we stopped looking for a new place to stay each year. Over time our families have grown and BHHL property is the perfect size for us all. We feel very lucky to have found it and our kids, many who are now in the their early 20s, still look forward to returning every year.
Besides the property being ideal we find the communication excellent, the property manager Mike is always on hand before and during our stay if we need anything. This is why we have just booked our 9th year with BHHL.

We have just spent a weekend celebrating a big birthday with 25 family members at River Wye Lodge Lydbrook. Age range 80yrs - 15months! We had a great weekend, despite torrential rain Saturday morning,so the games room came into its own,but enjoyed lovely BBQ in the sunshine Sunday afternoon.The house is very well laid out, very clean and very well equipped. Managed by Big House holiday lets. Lots to do in the area, and around the Forest of Dean, Lovely area. BHHL even found a missing much loved toy and sent it back to us - pretty good service I would say.

We had a fabulous family reunion at the River Wye Lodge. The house itself was perfect for our needs, loads of room. There was no shortage of plates, glasses, cutlery, utensils for our large group of 23. The dining table was huge and we were all able to sit together for meal times. The hot tub was an added bonus. There was plenty of outdoor space for us all. 16 of the group went canoeing and it was wonderful and well worth booking up. There is lots to do in the area and lots of leaflets at the house to help you find things to do. The whole booking experience and customer service was excellent and one of the group forgot their mobile phone, it was found and promptly returned to us. Just brilliant! Would definitely recommend. Thank you BHHL for an amazing weekend!

We had a fantastic long weekend at the Manor on the Monnow. Big multi generation event with dogs. Lots of space with everything you need. Swim in the river, lovely garden and lots of close by things to do. Will rebook for sure.

BHHL communicated excellently throughout. As did the owners of Pencraig-court, the property that we rented for a stag party over 3 nights. There were 25 attendees and everyone commented about how nice the house was. It had everything that we needed and the setting was amazing. There's a café a 1 minute walk from the house that does a decent breakfast so was ideal.

We stayed here to celebrate my dad’s 80th birthday. What a fabulous venue. The 3 kitchens were very well equipped. So much room for us all. We could all sit down and eat together. The pool and hot tub were so warm. We had a wonderful weekend making memories
