Terrible hospital for maternity care

Terrible hospital for maternity care. If Eleanor is your midwife whilst staying on the ward ask for someone else so your concerns are taken seriously and addressed properly. Whilst an inpatient on watch for possibly going into labour before 24 weeks I was told to go and buy my own liquid iron from a pharmacy instead of them prescribing it and my mental health concerns were basically ignored, I was advised to go and get some air and go for a walk. My partner spoke to the the midwives three times to try and get me help and the mental health midwife wasn't interested. I discharged myself to seek help elsewhere.

My daughter recently had a procedure on…

My daughter recently had a procedure on Saturn ward. Staff were very friendly, very caring and very considerate. The ward run like clock work, it was clean, organised and everyone knew what they were doing and where they should be. We waited no longer than half an hour for her surgery slot and she was 3rd on the list. Super super speedy and efficient! Could not recommend this hospital enough. I am devastated it’s 40mins away from us otherwise this would be my new hospital! Thank you again for looking after my daughter. After reading some of these reviews I think people need to go to Hillingdon hospital like I have too everytime! That hospital is awful they’ll have something to moan about then!

Better credit where its due.

If they never helped save my life this time around id give them 1 star but I had blood poisoning and sepsis and the resus team must have worked amazingly to stable me. As I was unconscious dont remember what happened but thankyou. My ward the staff were amazing made me feel human and helped me. Unlike previous terrible experiences I have to give them credit here.

Excellent care. Lovely people.

The reviews on here are so polarised! But all I can confirm is my own experience of my urology appointment. From the prior admin and planning - which was swift and efficient - to the appointment itself, everything was faultless. The consultant was calm, knowledgeable and friendly (for the record, his name is Karl Pang - thanks Karl). The (potentially painful) procedure was surprisingly comfortable. And the nurses (lovely Filipino ladies from Sebu) were both very professional and kind with it. Our NHS is flawed and under pressure, but these guys are delivering quality and I am both grateful and proud! Might send them a box of chocolates to share ;)

Racist, rude and patronising staff

I opted to be referred to Chelsea and Westminster Hospital when we moved closer to the area, as opposed to St George’s Hospital which I’ve always been to. Up until this point, my experiences have been okay, although I have observed some blatant and subtle micro-aggressions, discrepancies and discriminatory behaviour from staff towards ethnic minority patients.

My recent experiences with staff and consultants in the Gynaecology, and Lung diagnostic departments have been questionable and unpleasant. I feel offended and angry. All patients irrespective of their ethnicity should be treated equally and respectfully.

Today I was on the receiving end of what I can only describe as unconscious bias and anti-blackness, similarly to other people who have left reviews expressing the same concerns. Ironically on this occasion it was by Asian staff.

At my last two appointments in the departments I’ve mentioned above, I was spoken to in a very patronising, condescending manner, No one should be pressured into having unwanted invasive surgery, or ridiculed as to why they do not want it!

Today, I walked into the Lung diagnostic department greeted the receptionist who barely looked up, only to be met with a cold, unfriendly and hostile response. I was checked in and curtly directed to the waiting room. As I sat waiting to be called, I observed the difference in which she warmly greeted every other outpatient as they came in. Which was in stark contrast to the way I was treated. I noted that I was the only person of colour in the waiting room. Ironically the receptionist who was Asian/Arab was clearly acting from a place of colourism, and deference towards the white patients. She went out of her way to make them feel welcomed, while I was treated as an inferior inconvenience not worth the effort to be polite to.

My diagnostics started well (Filipino nurse) but by the end of it I left with a distinct feeling that the nurse was irritated and frustrated with my inability to follow her poorly delivered instructions, on the most complex part of 1 of 4 different breathing tests. I was spoken to in a very patronising way and made to feel stupid. I pointed out to her that I was equally frustrated by her conflicting and confusing instructions, to which she tried to justify herself. No apology!

Colourism and racism appears to be the culture at Chelsea and Westminster and is rife. According to an official report that was published, following complaints an investigation found that there is an insidious problem with racism there. Not just towards ethnic minority patients but also towards non-white medical staff and consultants too!

This is disgraceful, disgusting and unacceptable. It needs to be stamped out! The directors and managers need to do more to tackle racism in this hospital and, they need to ensure that it’s dealt with from the top down. I will be making a formal complaint, and I will ask for all future referrals to be sent to St George’s.

Rude rude receptionist

Rude rude receptionist
Cannot believe this lady is still working there. She is older with dark hair (Irish?) and I’ve noticed her before for being rude. Today my daughter and I asked a simple question asking for directions. She snapped back dr or test? We didn’t understand what she meant which prompted her to repeat the question in a patronising, nasty manner. We said no thanks we’ll look at the board and find out where we need to go that way. Unprofessional, unkind and really really needs customer service training.

Rude and unbothered

The staff in the St. mary abotts ward were not helpful enough. Anne at the reception was very rude aswell as Jane. My brother had a surgery yesterday and needed to do blood test but they kept us waiting from morning then after that they said we can take him home and come thursday for blood test as they couldn’t find his veins. We’ve been asked to wait for nearly 3 hours just to collect the prescription after the discharge and even discharge summary wasn’t ready but when we tried to approach them to ask about it they were rude to us. They sent the person to get the prescription after we approached them for 4th time then The medicines were in the bag next to Anne nearly an hour ago but she was unbothered about it.Staff has just been gossiping around at the reception instead of helping the staff. We faced alot of discrimination today by this staff.
Some of the staff were very friendly and helpful like Robert,Raissa and zara. Thanks to this helpful and hardworking staff. Appreciate it

My father went into hospital after…

My father went into hospital after falling out of his wheelchair, he was, fine, the hospital decided to keep him in because of his age and because he had been on the floor for a considerable time, within days he had ulcers on his foot and I asked for a safeguarding review to be raised and was told it would be, i checked on a regular basis if the investigation was progressing and was told it was, when I asked for the outcome of the investigation none of the Social Care Staff would speak to me despite ringing a number of time, I have made a complaint and nobody has been in contact. I would not recommend this hospital to anyone.

If your NHS don’t go here

If your NHS don’t go here. They are much more concerned with their private patients hence why they have such a large and active private wing to this hospital. The consultants treat you extremely badly bordering on actively psychologically harming NHS patients who are rightfully seeking decent treatment, diagnosis and then surgery.
I’ve been to Ophthalmology and maxillofacial where they spread
out tests for almost a year where most would do the same in a few weeks. However this is a tactic they use to slowly fob you off if you check their profiles they have extremely active private practice and I’m sure use the NHS to pay their bills as a filler. I also needed urgent treatment for a torn tendon and again triage was months where as it should be treated asap within weeks. They again have fobbed me off initially offering a steroid injection I pushed for an mri confirming the damage and even then they delayed the result of the mri for 2 months after the scan. Now they are still unwilling to treat the injury having delayed for 4 months now even my GP wrote to them and they just don’t care. This hospital and its management is directed at fobbing off NHS patients while their consultants fill their boots at the private practice. Absolutely disgusting. Plus my family have a very rich history of working for the NHS- the Royal Family and government in top positions receiving a Knighthood and other top awards for their diligent service to this great country. I even self diagnosed and they still can’t be bothered. Shame on them.

THE BEST HOSPITAL

I honestly don’t know where to start when it comes to Westminster & Chelsea Hospital. I had the best experience ever! Even though I was in a high-risk situation, I was actually glad to be in the labor ward. I was trying to avoid that ward, but because of my condition while giving birth, I had no choice. At the same time, I felt relieved because I tend to worry a lot, especially in hospitals.

The treatment I received while giving birth at this hospital was incredible; it felt like I was in VIP! The nurses and midwives were amazing—they made sure I was okay every second and never left my side. They helped me feel so relaxed, and they were all very polite. The midwives who took care of me were Natasha, Angela, Taz, and Serena. Honestly, thank you so much for giving me the best birthing experience.

It felt like God gave me the perfect combination of midwives! I wasn’t planning on having any more babies, but because of them, I’m now planning for more just so I can experience the same treatment again. Thank you so much, Westminster Chelsea Hospital! Your team made my birthing experience the best memory, and I’m truly grateful.

Continually proves itself to be BAD!

Continually proves itself to be BAD!! Doctors cancelling appointments but when calling their Private clinics their there???

Diagnosing one thing in an appointment then writing something else in a letter??

Changing appointments to suit, even changing the investigation type!! Sending a letter detailing what examination is going to happen then changing the examination on the day of the appointment (I’m guessing due to cost), because the excuses they give are from another planet!!

Awful hospital IMO.

Five appointments Cancelled in 15 Months

This review is for West Middlesex Hospital which is part of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.
I have had five appointments cancelled between December 2023 and February 2025. I feel fairly confident that my next appointment in June will also be cancelled. I can't help feeling that it's age related, that as I'm in my eighties I'm geriatric and not worth bothering with. Edited 27th June. My appointment wasn't cancelled but I had the last appontment of the day & it was 1.5 hours late so therefore too late for an X ray as the department was closed. I could have had an X ray whil I was waiting. An appointment was made for 3 weeks time but that was cancelled the day before and I now have an appoinment in February 2026. Amended February 5th 2026 on the day of my appointment I received a phone call to cancel.

Awesome

Omg! Firstly the waiting time to see a triage nurse is just 5-10min, but to see a doctor might be 2hrs which is annoying but not that bad. The surgeons are perfect!! This team took good care of me! My health was prioritized immediately ! They took into action and reassured me all through! My nurses were perfect! St Mary abott nurses and HCA, bless you all for taking care of me. More grease to your elbows at C&W!! Thank you.

Thank you Annie Zunz Team

I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to Dr. Olayemi Kuponiyi, Nurse Mercy, Carol, the anaesthesia team, Jennifer, and the kitchen staff for their exceptional care during my myomectomy surgery.

Dr. Kuponiyi, your expertise and compassionate approach made the entire process smooth and reassuring. I truly appreciate the comfort and confidence you provided before and after the surgery.

To Nurse Mercy and Carol, your dedication and kindness were instrumental in my healing process. Your support made a significant difference, and I am profoundly grateful for your care.

Thank you to the anaesthesia team for making me feel comfortable and supported during an emotional time when I first came in. Your kindness was greatly appreciated.

Jennifer, you were amazing when you removed the drain from my belly. You were the gentlest person ever, and I didn't feel a thing. Thank you so much.

And thank you to the kitchen staff for the wonderful food and drinks that kept me nourished and comfortable during my stay.

I wish there was more I could do than leave a review, as it doesn’t fully capture my appreciation. Nevertheless, a big thank you to the entire team in the Annie Zunz ward for their outstanding service.
Thank you 💙💜🩷

Employees on their phones using…

Employees on their phones using Instagram, chatting around, laughing, my daughter just collapsed in the waiting area, asked 20 times how long will take and they don't even answer, its mkt acceptable how NHS’s services are so poor , paying taxes and having this ridiculous waiting times and being ignored with a kid. Listening Vietname language instead of English also very disrespectful, and annoying .
