Toyota Currie Kingston

Toyota Currie Kingston – Very Disappointing Experience
I have been taking my Toyota to Toyota Currie Kingston for around 10 years, so I trusted them and expected a high standard of service.
In January 2026, I paid £460 for a major service on my Toyota Auris Hybrid. Since then, I have driven only around 5,000 miles.
Today, I had my MOT carried out at an independent garage. I was told that my brake pads were already down to approximately 3mm on one side and 2mm on the other.
This is extremely disappointing because, after paying £460 for a major service at Toyota, I expected the brakes to have been properly inspected and any necessary work to have been identified and discussed with me.
If the brake pads were already worn to this level in January, why were they not replaced or at least clearly reported to me? And if they were in better condition in January, how could they be down to 2–3mm after only 5,000 miles?
After trusting Toyota Currie Kingston for 10 years, this experience has seriously damaged my confidence in their servicing. How can customers trust that the work they are paying for has actually been properly carried out?
I would like Toyota Currie Kingston to explain exactly what was checked during my January service and what condition my brake pads were recorded as being in at that time.

I had a repair and chassis wax recall on my Toyota Hilux, I went to my local Toyota repair branch (Isleworth) and was seen/greeted by one of their agents, (Christopher De Bruyne), the service was great! Daily updates and never in a rush.
Chris done a great job listening to my concerns and guiding where necessary.
I’ve never used main dealers before, but will do in future as the rates are pretty fair and service impeccable,
Would recommend,
Robert.

Prices are a secret and then incredibly high

I took a Lexus is250 to the Twickenham branch to get the air conditioning fixed as it needed the pressure sensor replaced. Even though I knew what the fault was as it had already been diagnosed at Halfords (they could not get the part so refunded the diagnostic cost) they would not give me a price for the part unless I had a £200 diagnostic done which they promise to refund from the repair cost. This unsurprisingly found the same fault. I was expecting the price to be high as its a main dealer but was unprepared for the £360 quote for a £25 part. Do not fall for the pay for the diagnostic but don't worry you will get it back when you have the repair done as you will not get the repair done unless someone else is paying.

I would suggest anyone going there look at the prices of parts on lexus parts direct before having a diagnostic done to see how painful the quote is likely to be.

Quite a good business model get paid £200 per car but never have to fix any cars.

Car now fixed for £200, parts and labour at a local independent garage. No requirement for another diagnostic and done in less than an hour.

Dear Terry, Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to learn that you were not completely satisfied with our service. When you made the booking the representative made you aware of the diagnostic fee and that we would need to confirm Halfords' findings.
We can understand your disappointment, that following your appointment, the estimate to rectify your concerns with the air-conditioning system did not meet your requirements. Our customers are important to us and it is disappointing when we are unable to meet their expectations. We wish you well for the future.
Assuring you of our best attention at all times.

Left hand/Right hand ??

Jul 8 - wife left car for 2 front wheel tyre replacemens at Currie Motors Kingston. Promised ready by 5.00pm. Midday - phone call, tyre machine broken. Will call tomorrow to update
9th. No call. Rang Currie. Got call back from mechanic - machine still broken. Will call tomorrow
10th. No call. Wanted car for evening, so collected for use over weekend.
13th. Rang to check progress with mending of machine. They promised to call back with progress. No call
14th. Rang them to check progress Still unclear.
Since one of the tyre replacements was because of a small incident, and fitting of a short term wheel replacement with limited mileage allowed, took car to local Tyre Centre, both replaced within 20 minutes (and more cheaply than Currie)
Later that day got call/emails - appointment booked for 20th !!! NO CONSULTATION ABOUT WHETHER THIS WAS CONVENIENT/OR IF CAR AVAILABLE
I cancelled the booking as no longer needed.

However, this booking (as with previous cases) prompted a plethora of emails confirming dates, asking questions etc, all of which should have been on file

Since then, there have been several further phone calls asking for details of requirements - when told to look at their files., the callers seemed non-plussed/ unable to get details from 'another deprtment' etc

There seems to be a general lack of communications between departments, a lack of interest in customer service or urgency, and as further background to these calls, the communications clarity is dreadful - probably staff using poor quality headsets and speaking far too rapidly (80+ year old hearing is not perfect, but not that bad )

Dear Malcolm,
We were sorry to read of your concerns that your wife had with car tyres. We had an unfortunate situation whereby our machine broke and we had to wait for a new one to be ordered. We apologise that we could not assist on this occasion and the reason for the various communications was to try to alert her of this matter.

Awful Experience

Awful Experience
I went for an annual full service, hand over my keys around 11:30 and was told it will be done around 4 or 5 in the afternoon. Waiting for their call/text and nothing came through. As the time goes I checked my email, it said pick up time is 18:30. Waited until 6:00 and rang the office but they are closed. Went there physically, obviously no one is there. Had to go to work at 3:00 in the morning and booked Uber knowing that finding ride that early can be a bit of gamble. If I was told it wont be ready, I could've either change the date or arrange something earlier. Got a call the following morning at 9:26 and told the car is ready for collection. Came to pick it up around 12:30 and tried to explain how unhappy I am to the front desk lady but she is absolutely not ready to listen anything I have to say. Seated and waited for the polite gentleman, he came and explained all the services they do and at the end I explained my frustration and the inconvenience their miss management created on me. He was humble and apologized on behalf of the company and promised to raise the issue with his manager. I thanked him and went to my car. When I checked the service book, it wasn't signed and updated, in plus the car was not washed. I went back and asked if I am wrong to expect the car to be washed while carrying out a full service, the front desk lady confirmed I am right and ask me if I can sit and wait for the car to be washed. I was furious at the time and couldn't accept her offer. Now my question is, if they didn't bother to wash the car, check on the service book, how do I know that they have properly carried out the services they say they will do?
I know I am never going to step a foot in there But I have to say this, it is a disgrace for Toyota.

Hi Asteway
We were sorry to hear that your recent experience of our services was not up to our usual high standard. The misinformation regarding the last collection time was due to some technical issues which we were experiencing with our new “service hub” system. Our last collection time is always 5.30 and we are currently investigating as to why this was not showing on the system. With regards to your car not being washed and the service book not being stamped, we can only apologise for this oversight. Our aftersales manager, Jessica Lock, has tried to get in contact with you and left a message to arrange a convenient time for this to be rectified.
Assuring you of our best attention at all times.

Disorganised and insensitive

I booked into Currie Motors Kingston for a repair to my catalytic converter. I dropped my car off and was told the work would be completed by the end of the following day. The following day, around 3pm, I called to ask if this was still on track. I was told yes, it would be ready to collect by 5.30pm. I duly left early work early, taking 2 hours of annual leave, in order to reach the garage before closing. On arrival at 5pm, I was informed that in fact the wrong part had been ordered and the car had not been repaired. It's unclear to me why this was not communicated on the phone just 2 hours prior. I was then offered a courtesy car, despite the fact that I have a physical disability and require an adapted car. Unsurprisingly, they were unable to accommodate this. The team said they had now ordered the correct part but it would not arrive for a further week. We arranged that I would drop the car off again at this point. Due to the nature of my shiftwork, it was agreed that the car would be dropped back to my property at the end of the working day, when the repair was completed, rather than me coming back to collect.

During the following week, I failed to receive any email confirmation of my second booking. I called the garage three days prior and received verbal confirmation that the plan was still in place. I received a further call the day before attempting to book me in for a showroom viewing whilst the work was being done. I dropped off my car the following day as planned and confirmed with the team that it would be returned to my address at the end of the working day.

I have since failed to receive any update from Currie Motors Kingston regarding a) whether the repair has taken place or b) where my car is. It has not been returned to me. I have attempted to call three times between 4pm and 5pm and have been unable to get through to anyone at the Kingston branch. They have now closed.

Based on my experience, I would not advise anyone to use the Kingston branch. My overall impression is that they are simply so disorganised, they do not know who is turning up or what work has been booked in. My adaptations are clearly visible within the vehicle and were noted on my booking -- to be offered a courtesy car I would be unable to use and having to explain why I cannot use it, whilst seated in the middle of a crowded reception area, was horrific. I currently have no idea as to the status or whereabouts of my car, nor when it may be returned to me.

6 months ago I purchased a Prius from Currie’s Toyota Twickenham and had a great experience throughout. Colm provided excellent service from start to finish — friendly, knowledgeable, and always happy to help with any questions. What really stood out was that he kept in touch even after the sale to make sure everything was going smoothly. Very reassuring since we were buying online from Devon.

Six months later, the car has been faultless with no issues at all. Very happy with both the car and the customer service. Highly recommended!

TOYOTA ISLEWORTH

I’ve owned my Toyota from new for nearly 10 years, and she recently went in for some serious mechanical TLC. It was a massive job—full front and rear brakes, front and rear suspension parts, a new 12V battery, and an air con refresh, plus investigating a few specific issues I’d flagged for them to rectify.

Rhianna and the entire team (shoutout to Chris, Em, Chris, Nat, Danielle, and the technicians) went absolutely above and beyond for me. They kept me mobile with a courtesy car while the heavy lifting was being done, and I genuinely felt valued and appreciated for my long-term loyalty to the brand.

I’ve been bringing my car here since the very first day I bought it, and service like this is exactly why I’ll never go anywhere else. A massive thank you to Toyota, and a huge shoutout to Rhianna and the crew for getting everything sorted so smoothly and getting my car back to its absolute best.

Until next time! 🙌🚗

False MOT Failure, Rude and Arrogant Staff

Took my car in for a service and MOT. Two hours later, I was told it failed MOT and given a £1,000 repair quote. The failure was for:
Offside Rear Lower Suspension Arm Pin or Bush Excessively Worn
They also added front brake disks as an advisory (pads were never replaced).

This is on a car with under 20,000 miles and no prior issues.

However, what makes this even more concerning is that while the MOT failure was for the lower suspension arm, the repair quote referred to an OSR Trailing Arm (debonded)—a completely different component.

I subsequently took the vehicle to three other garages and an MOT centre, all of which cleared it and passed the MOT. I raised a complaint and was informed by aftersales manager Ashleigh Duffin that the tester had identified a deteriorated and detached (debonded) offside rear lower suspension arm bush, which was “clearly visible.” I then appealed with the DVSA. The DVSA vehicle examiner tested the car at Lexus Twickenham and confirmed the MOT was failed incorrectly and carried out in a manner to fail.

This is my second visit, and for the second time I was also advised to pay for air con cleaning, re-gas, and fuel system cleaning—work that had already been done. It feels like they push unnecessary extras to inflate costs. From other reviews, this doesn’t seem like a one-off experience.

Despite all this, Ashleigh Duffin was rude, dismissive, and offered no solution.

Amazing how something “clearly visible” was invisible to multiple garages and even the DVSA examiner—and how the identified fault couldn’t even be consistently described. Completely unprofessional. Avoid at all costs.
