Scam
Brought Mazda cx5 from here Once your off the forecourt with ya car they don't give a sh*t about you. Spent around £1000 sorting out the problems and they still ain't all sorted. Warranty means naff all they just ignore you. Do not buy from here.
Avoid!!!!!!
Avoid, wish id checked trust pilot before! All nice until there is an issue then you see that the warranty is worthless. First they try and convince me its normal that things dont work in the cold, then when after agreeing to get multiple issues fixed and a date is arranged for the repair they just put the car in a car park for a week saying its with the garage. Im having to get the issues repaired now at my own cost, fed up of the lies and declined calls. You go to the showroom to try and get things resolved and the guy says its sales only here use the whatsapp number, then the whats app number says this is a sales line you need to use this email.......
Unfortunately i have also fell victim…
Unfortunately i have also fell victim to this dealership that now operates under Derbyshire Performance. We purchased a 2016 Jaguar F Pace and have had nothing but issues. After 2 months of me being ignored and messed around the car was finally fixed as it needed a new clutch. The car still has issues outstanding that were agreed prior to sale and has now developed an issue with the engine on start up. I have asked for my money back multiple times and always been told no, we dont do refunds. I have now got my solicitor and bank involved to get a full refund. I hope to god you see these reviews before handing over any money to this dealership. STAY WELL CLEAR!!
Avoid Scam - Derbyshire Performance/Derby Cars
Avoid - scam (Derbyshire Performance formerly Derby Cars)
I reserved the car ahead of viewing which was a big mistake. My ‘fully refundable’ deposit would not have been returned had I not chased and chased - they only returned the money once I called them out on the scam that they are running. When I viewed the car, the service light was on, as was a warning about a fault - a clear sign that the car had not gone through the MOT or service as claimed. Under the hood, the oil was black and leaking, there were holes in some metal elements and silicone was plastered all over the car where repairs had been attempted and botched. To avoid a confrontation, I explained that I didn’t like the feel of the car, at which point I knew I made the right decision as Kevin turned from a polite, up-beat sales rep, to an incredibly rude and angry man. Do not trust reviews from AutoTrader as it’s clear that themselves and their friends leave inauthentic, positive reviews. Derbyshire Performance have traded previously under Derby Cars, search this name and you will find a wealth of bad reviews and negative experiences from people who have sadly been conned and are now taking legal action. Avoid at all costs.
Con men
Sold me a car with the engine full of carbon, oil pressure light on, engine light on, cost me 600quid to send it back, they had car for 3 weeks, changes oil, which I had to pay for, then give it me back, 3 weeks later, happened again, and surprise, surprise it's now out of warrenty, they got some Dodgy garage to paper over the cracks, untill warranty ran out.. Absolute con merchants, don't answer there phones either, stay well clear of these Co men
Positive feedback
I saw a car advertised on autotrader which I instantly fell in love with. It said "arriving soon" but I couldn't wait and went to the garage to see if it was there. It wasn't, but the salesmen gave me a rough estimate of when it would be arriving and discussed a part ex for my range rover. They did offer me a fair price for its age and condition. I went home and decided to pay the £99 reserve on the new car.
The car did arrive when I was told and the salesman sent me a video of it as soon as it came off the lorry. The same day I went to test drive and it was immaculate and a pleasure to drive. I was assured it would be going for an MOT that day or day after, but after reading all the reviews about the garage, I decided against the sale as I couldn't afford big repair bills or to take the risk. I spoke to the salesman and he sent back my deposit within a couple of hours.
My whole experience with the garage has been positive despite the bad press and reviews, even if I didn't go ahead with the purchase.
Wow wish we had seen these reviews…
Wow wish we had seen these reviews before purchasing a Land Rover from these guys. Returned after 4 days for a repair which you should do. Collected after a week, omg the car just cut out on the M1 with my children in the car, they are refusing me a refund
Like previous customers I am taking further action, which is now in place
Dreadful experience
I’m just starting the process of taking Derbyshire Performance to court to get my money back as they are refusing my rights under the CRA 2015. They’re also refusing to let me know their full names or who owns Derbyshire Performance. Can anyone help? They obviously want to stay well under the radar.
Dangerous Vehicle , Scammers
I bought an Insignia Vxr from derbyshire performance 9 months ago, it's been constant issues from day 1 , collected the vehicle with a headlamp fault which i was assured it was sorted (chineese parts fitted which failed) on the drive home the vehicle went into limp mode due to the rear differential and Turbo actuator failed , DP were reluctant to sort these only the actuator was sorted , Headlights I actually had to go halfs with them on which is pathetic
I thought I'd throw the car on a ramp since I'm a technician myself , no signs of service being done , Propshaft UJ split and worn , Mis matched tyres with varying treads lowest being completely bald showing chords , great idea for a AWD car
Fast forward to a few weeks ago, Gearbox failed , and the CD player actually caught fire filling the car with smoke caused by some very very questionable wiring
The warranty is absolutely useless they keep referring too as it does not cover anything! I phoned DP and literally got told you can't do anything you've had the car 9 months while laughing at me , I'd understand if it was a minor fault but the vehicle catching fire due to previous work clearly the car was not checked over correctly at all!!
Avoid at all costs , You'd have more luck buying a car from the scrapyard
10/10 service from start to end
10/10 service from start to end, absolutely amazing customer service & beautiful car which I got a good deal on, would recommend 100 times over, Jay helped me through the whole thing & nothing was too much to ask
They don’t deserve 1*
They don’t deserve 1*. Absolute scammers. The garage they got to pass the MOT has to be in on it with them. MAB Motors Ltd! Unsure if the owners of this company know, or is it just Graham the mechanic. After 1 week of happy motoring the engine completely failed with a whopping bill of £18,000 to repair. As it was within the first 30 days and advised by a good mechanic, I exercised my right to return the car for a full refund. The owners whoever they are, (as the salesmen Jay & Kevin refuse to tell me who it is), have refused my right for a refund. I am now in the process of court proceedings so will update you.
Just sending the car I bought in…
Just sending the car I bought in December for £7,500 to be scrapped. I have tried in vain to contact Jay but he hasn’t returned my calls.
Absolute con men
Absolute con men, paid a deposit went to test drive and collect, was told it would have MOT and service and be cleaned.
Car was filthy, service light was on & had not been serviced also had a dodgy MOT. It had an electrical fault on the head light and a sticker over the number plate both should have been fails! Also when plugging into the car there was a long list of other issues not addressed!! Refused to give back the refundable deposit and demanded my partner get off his land when he challenged him! Happily threw the garage under the bus that MOT for them but we’ve since been told by someone who worked for this garage that they regularly ask for them to just ‘stick and MOT on’! Avoid at all costs
I brought a car 6months ago from this…
I brought a car 6months ago from this garage £9500 what a mistake first thing gear box in the first month garage said it was my problem
The car supposed to have a full service had no service had an oil leak and to top it off the computer system has been tampered with so when the garage plugged the diagnostic machine in there was no reading took it to a second garage same no reading this bloke is a criminal and should be shut down i am now taking it to court so hopefully justice will be done
The owner is a fraud and very rude the garage is dodgy stay away
They had my car back said they fixed it but the car had the same faults i have now sold the car for £2000 i paid £9500
Everyone if you buy a car from here get it checked by a mechanic or rac aa etc
More of the same, they haven't changed at all.
I should start by saying that I am a third party to this story. The victim of these people is my daughter, but the story is just as true if I detail it here.
She bought a Mazda CX-5, a second hand car, on the 5th of June '24. Looked OK, and did a few school runs before things went wrong.
Day 6 and a warning light came on, engine temperature. Parked the car, checked coolant level, and then let DP know the issue the next morning. They replied that as she had taken the Warranty Assist package that she should contact them. The car was now off the road.
Warranty people said that they would get it booked in for diagnostics, but that she would have to pay. If they did authorise any repairs then the diagnostic cost would be refunded then. They advertise as using a garage within 10 miles, but that only seems to apply if you are within 10 miles of a Halfords workshop. She is not, and the nearest Halfords is nearly 30 miles away. Not willing to take a car with a overheating problem that far, and so they booked it into a garage a couple of miles away, but she would have to pay towards the cost.
Had to wait a fortnight for an appointment, and so no car.
Just as an aside, Warranty Assist pay £60 per hour garage charges. Anything over this you will have to cover, plus VAT.
The report came back that it was a head gasket failure (good job she didn't go to Halfords!).
At this point she got back to DP and rejected the car. This is her right under the 2015 Consumer Rights act.
DP said that they would collect the car (it's now 150 miles from Derby) and fix it.
She said no, she now had no confidence in the car.
Then an email, where DP said that she couldn't refuse the car, and they they would repair it once she arranged, and paid for, it to be returned to their garage.
That is how it stands at the moment. My daughter has no car, and it looks like it is going to be a while before she does have one. DP have her money.
The car itself is still at the garage, she certainly isn't going to drive it, and I daresay they will be getting a bit stroppy soon about having it there. Don't blame them, if they are not going to do the repair, but as far as I can make out it is now the responsibility of DP, now that she has formally notified them of her intention to refuse the car.
She has had it just over 3 weeks, and it has been off the road for 2 of them.
DP seem to think that the Consumer Rights Act doesn't apply to them, but I guess we will have to find out about that.
Does anyone know if we can go for compo, given that alternative transport is starting to add up, and will continue to do so.
Please, stay away from Derbyshire Performance - it really isn't worth the risk!
Better off walking
In the start everything seemed to be going well but the saying if it's to good to be true then it probably Is could never be more correct .
On the face of things I thought this business was offering me a really good deal on a 17 plate bmw 3 series but nothing could be further from the truth , within days of purchasing the Egr failed which is weird considering It had just been serviced so they told me to bring it back in to be replaced but the car was unable to be drove so had to pay for it to be towed there , few days went by and of I went again to collect my new pride and joy only for this to be the start of my troubles ... everything that could go wrong with a car went wrong, the car from Steven kings Christine was less of a death trap , from the power steering failing on the motor way to the roof no longer closing you name it , it broke all within 5 months .
Now you'll ask but didn't they fix this under the warranty ... you'd have thought so but it turns out they never actually gave me a warranty after telling me I had 12 months and as for getting in touch with them you've got more chance of finding jesus then you have of someone getting back to you
To some up my experience I'm out of pocket thousands of pounds and left with a car that reminds me of Katie price , To look at it you'd think it's a good looking motor but deep down it's not worth the hassle and the baggage that buying a car here gets you atleast dick turpin wore a mask when he robbed you
Save yourself money and don't bother
Bought a Scirocco from them. Was promised a 12 month warranty package, then after constantly asking for the paperwork (after being told the person who deals with the warranty is off sick), I got sent paperwork for 6 months only. The fuel injector was faulty, had oil problems, yet it apparently went through a full MOT prior to purchase.
On top of this, I never received an updated V5 and as such, had further problems. I also received a fine for the car I part exchanged there which they had clearly sold on, so it appears they are incapable of completing the paperwork effectively!
Oh and don't bother trying to contact them... they don't reply.
Grandson bought an Audi S3 from them…
Grandson bought an Audi S3 from them and it had its MOT the day before we picked it up . After driving home 150 miles the brakes were binding. Took the car to two local garages both saying it was no road worthy. Returned car to Derbyshire Performance and the had it for 3 months and when we picked it up again no work had been carried out. I would say keep away from this garage as they make it so hard to contact them no names are ever given so 0 out 10 don’t buy a car from them
This company is best left
This company is best left, they have no interest in consumer rights, any problems they hide behind any excuse they can find, the one star is for replying to emails, even tho they do not act on them, totally disappointed with this company, they have a lovely website but that’s as far as it goes, please be aware
Unbelievable performance by Derbyshire…
Unbelievable performance by Derbyshire performance did exactly what we agreed. Always kept in touch via text which is fantastic as too busy to answer the phone will definitely use again and we have already recommended to our friends.
