WORST EXPERIENCE
I did write a google review - but it looks like they've opted out of google reviews now, so I'll put it here instead.
Long story short. Bought a car from them. They never did any sort of pre-delivery checks and there was loads wrong with the car after I took it away, day 3 the gearbox went. Had to take the car back to them (refused to pick it up) they had the car for nearly a month, several postponed collections (even though I was on my way) ruined a holiday plan, no courtesy car although promised. Got the car back eventually and they'd STILL not fixed 90% of the issues I presented them. Washed my hands of them and took the loss. Expensive lesson learned.
Given their nice premises you'd think they were a high quality outfit, but it's all paid for by screwing over others by the looks of it.
DO NOT BOTHER, THERE'S A REASON THEY'VE DELETED THEIR WHOLE GOOGLE REVIEW ACCOUNT

Purchased a 23k car within 5 miles of my journey home, there was awful exhaust gasses coming into the cabin, and the gearbox started to whine, having tried to contact the brothers the line was dead,
So next best thing was to take it to my local vat registered garage to look over the problem within the same hour of receiving the car… the exhaust clamp was loose and they tightened it ( no big deal ) how ever the gearbox will / is needing repair, both parties are not interested, and accused me of tampering with it, less than 24hours in!…
The car has been sat ever since and not moved due to legal proceedings against Derbyshire Performance, their customer after care is rude & appalling, they are con men, and sell faulty motors.
The car came to me, filthy, various damage & 800miles more than advertised / told.
Kevin & Jay should be shut down it’s as simple as that.
Since purchasing the car I’ve looked deeper into them & the garage they use to PDI there vehicles is a myth, and dish out dodgy mots, I’m not letting this situation go I will have my time with them the correct way. AVOID LIKE PLAGUE.
Ghastly, Stressful Expensive
Just cannot comment
Buying a car from this company was that horrific, expensive and stressful that I just cannot comment about it. It was as if they thought 'oh here's a nice old couple, lets rip them off,' they sure did.
DO NOT TRUST DERBYSHIRE PERFORMANCE
I purchased a Mercedes SLK 350 online in July 2022. It was leaking oil from the start. Derbyshire Performance did not want to know and ignored all communication from me. I paid for an independent inspection on the car and this was carried out by a reputable nationwide inspection company. The car was noted to be unroadworthy and a fire hazard.
I decided to take Derbyshire Performance to court and proceedings commenced. I gathered all evidence required to prove Derbyshire Performance had sold me a defective car which took 6 months from start to finish. I was determined Derbyshire Performance were not going to get away with this and also to stop them doing this to other buyers.
The car was collected from my premises on 20/1/23 and to my horror was readvertised the same day of collection with another £1000 added to the original asking price.
If you have purchased a car from Derbyshire Performance and have issues with it,take them to Court-I did and I won.
You have been warned about this disgraceful Company.
Dodged a bullet
Well I read these reviews, and giving them the benefit of the doubt, I still went to engage in a car purchase. Luckily I avoided a big mistake. I called the company to ask if I could use a scan tool to check the car I was potentially interested in and Kevin told me that was fine. I asked for the engine to be cold on arrival.
When I arrived, Kevin tried to start the engine but it did not start initially. After it eventually started, I plugged the scan tool and every single car system except for 1 had faults inside them (even though the dash did not show the engine fault light). This car allegedly had done 49K. I pointed this out and Kevin was not interested and played ignorant re what engine fault codes where and went on to terminate the sale and throw insults at me even though I was walking away already. Very unprofessional. Avoid at all cost. These reviews here are correct. They tried to pass off a lemon as a diamond. Always take a car scan tool with you, and if the dealer wont let you check fault codes, walk away.
Summary: Conmen, avoid at all cost!
Bought a RS5 and traded in my Mercedes
Bought a RS5 and traded in my Mercedes. The dealer told me he had changed log books along with private Reg transfers. A round 8 months later I started getting fines from my Mercedes which was strange as I was meant to be no longer the owner , turned out after a lot of calls DVLA etc. that he hadn’t changed ownership & sold it but kept in my name . I started getting summons & fines no tax etc. after I informed the owner (manager) at Derbyshire performance I was told it was a mistake and he would sought this issue. After nearly a year a half an still getting fines & summons for non payment , he eventually took it out my ownership but never back dated the v5 to the correct date (purposely) so am still emailing /writing / txting / calling to no avail , there now ignoring my calls & txts . I have all correspondence and paperwork to prove & had to pay a solicitor now as am not getting any were with Derbyshire performance. Please don’t risk your time & money with this company it’s as good as rolling a dice (good car or really bad) like mine . Never mind the terrible un professional manner they treat you. If anyone would like to see the txts from there manager before you buy , I will send you there manages responses to see for your self . Please be careful with Derbyshire performance they look professional but are clearly not.
Purchased a 2017 Audi rs5 over a year…
Purchased a 2017 Audi rs5 over a year ago now , to my disappointment the 47k motor was all scratched not prepped alloys all scratched & scuffed , and I had traded my Mercedes’ in with Derbyshire performance to find 7 months later it hadn’t been took out my name as promised. It took numerous calls emails txts to get the car out of my name as I was getting fines through.
He agreed to rectify the v5 and outstanding fines but when he did he sneakily done it to present date , which made me still liable for the fines , I have all emails fines txt corresponding to this issue and am not having to go to small claims to get them to pay . There a cow boy company that look good online please be warned there not , they don’t care once they’ve had you money steer clear if you would like to see the proof how shocking they are please feel free to email me YOU WONT BUY FROM THEM ONCE READ !!!!
Great stock and show room
Great stock and show room, excellent customer service, very professional and after sales communication is good too. There's been a little delay with DVLA sending the log book but they dealership has promised to chase this up which shows level of care after sale. Most importantly I'm very happy with the motor.
Buy else where.
After 4 hours of driving and complaining the car is not right. The list is long.
Miss fire, i had to fit new plugs out my own pocket
NSF suspension broken needs new
OSR suspension broken needs new
Support arm not fitted and needed a new bolt fitted my own cost again
NSF bottom arm Bush gone and banging.
They have cost me over £400 in inspections, urgent Repairs and with the other bits need doing at a cost of over £1500 (used parts) which I said if they buy the parts I will sort the labour out but they said they will.onky pay £900 which puts me more out of pocket. Stay clear buy else where, they have 0 customer service, when i messaged about the issues they then read the message and said closed till Friday and this was Wednesday afternoon.
Great Customer service from Kevin.
Great Customer service from Kevin.
Picked up my new car yesterday, and I’m very happy with it.
Very happy with the buying process, and Kevin went out of his way to help me, when I was looking to change my car. I wasn’t rushed out or anything, even though it was nearly closing time. He knew exactly what I was looking for, and there was no time wasting.
Kevin is a credit to the sales team, very friendly, and helpful, nothing was too much trouble.
Do not trust this company
Do not trust this company! Bought an Audi SQ5, was not valeted as promised when I collected, within 8 days the car broke down. There was an issue with the fuel injectors, they agreed to take the car back and repair, after many phone calls and getting fobbed off left right and centre, it was 8 weeks until I finally got it back, only for it to last 2 weeks and then it broke down again with the same issue. Long story short. I had it independently inspected, and there where a number of serious issues which would cost thousands to fix, 2 tyres were not road legal, in fact they were winter tyres put on in summer months which melted and came off in chunks. They lied about the work they had done, couldn’t provide me with any paperwork to prove it, and after months of dealing with citizens advice, I finally managed to return the car a year later, this was only thankfully due to my finance company demanding my money back, and even then, they said when they had the car returned there was damage (which there wasn’t and I had photos to prove the condition it was sent back in), I didn’t get all my money back, but the year of stress dealing with these robbing individuals, selling me a car to transport my young family in that was a death trap, has been awful! They should be ashamed! Also note, 2 weeks after the car returned, it was up for sale again for some other poor unsuspecting person to purchase!
My elderly dad purchased a nearly new…
My elderly dad purchased a nearly new Audi 50k nearly 12 months ago , and traded in his Mercedes’ , we were told they take care of everything. Upon collecting the new car we noticed it wasn’t quite right . The front paint was all peeling the wheels were terrible & it wasn’t valeted or serviced as stated.
To finish he also kept are traded car in my dads name got tickets and fines and now we’re still appealing them nearly 12 months on , you can’t get through by phone or email and no one cares .
Cowboy company buyer beware please this is the worst dealer I’ve come across .
Excellent service all the way through
Excellent service all the way through, super friendly and genuine, delivered to my door and took part ex vehicle away, which was just amazing. Cannot recommend enough and will definitely be looking here again when the time comes. My partner is still over the moon with her Audi RS3 so Thank you!
AWFUL
GENUINELY AWFUL - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - check google reviews and trust pilot reviews, don't trust the reviews on auto trader. ( the reviews have plummeted from 4.5 on google when i bought the car to just a 3 now in 7 weeks. I have no doubt this will continue to plummet) I purchased a car several weeks ago. Whilst I genuinely really like the car, it has had nothing but issues and seen me shelling out money since its purchase. Derbyshire Performance repeatedly make promises that they will rectify these issues, and then they do not action these promises.
Unfortunately the only option left is to take them to court, which is what I am now pursuing. Car needed new tyres almost immediately and did not arrive as described, car is currently not drivable and Derbyshire are spouting lies about their warranty agreements - their behaviour is now vastly different from the wonderful pre sale experience I had. Unfortunately it seems that this is all an act.
I am not usually one to write reviews but I feel a duty to prevent this from happening to other people.
Disappointing after sales service
Pre sales service was okay, but after sales experience has been very disappointing.
I was told the vehicle I had agreed to buy was damaged (tail light broken) the day before collection, but agreed to go ahead with collection on the basis that a replacement part would be sent on to me. The part that arrived was used and incompatible with my car (a US part which had previously been taken apart and soldered back together). I returned the part on the agreement that a replacement would be sourced and sent out the following week - from this point onward it has been a series of chasing for updates only to be promised something on a set date that never materialised. After the dealer claimed the parts were difficult to source, I located two alternative options for replacement parts (used) myself and offered options for Derbyshire Performance to either buy them or send me the money to buy & fit myself, but to no avail. After another date passed where an update had been promised and a request for something ignored, I went ahead and bought the part myself at a cost of £250.
Alongside this, despite claiming the vehicle had been serviced the week prior to collection there was no service stamp provided. I was told that evidence of the service would be sent the following Tuesday, but several weeks later this has still not been provided so I have had to pay an additional £200 out for a service to provide assurance that it has in fact been done.
The additional and unexpected £450 cost for items which were agreed up front to have been included in the purchase along with the requirement to regularly chase to no response has soured my experience with Derbyshire Performance and is not expected when spending £30k+ on a used car.
Very bad experience
Very bad experience. I overpaid on a car (which is my fault) as it was stated in great condition and sold with a new service. The condition was good but not great and the car had a major leak in the radiator and lost all its coolent in less than a few hours of me owning it. I had the engine warning light come on just as I pulled up at home (about 110 miles journey for me) and then the tempreture guage started to rise. Thankfully I was home when that happened. My initial thought was how would they not have noticed that in the time they had it up for sale that it had lost all its coolent? I had checked the oil and coolent before I bought it and it was full at that point. They sold it to me saying it just had a new service? That was part of the sales pitch. I spoke to the guys at Derbyshire Performance the next day and was advised that I just refill the coolent and continue driving it and see how it goes. Which is terrible advice by the way. I didn't take their advice and took it to a local garage who found a leak in the side of my radiatior in less than 5 minutes of looking. Derbyshire performance did replace the radiator but it was a very painful process. I had to arrange the recovery and collection of the vehicle to them and back myself and it just felt like they weren't interested in it at all. Once I got it back I thought all my troubles were over. A few days later and the coolent had dropped very low again. Derbyshire performance told me that new radiators take time to fill and settle and i should just keep refilling it for a good few weeks and it will all be good. Well a good few weeks later and about 5 litres of 50/50 coolent and its still leaking. I took it to my local garage again and they pressure tested the coolent system and found the core plug in the engine is leaking. And shows signs its been leaking for months as the red coolent has stained the whole underside of my engine. Its a massive job to replace. About 10 hours labour is what I have been quoted due to the nature of the engine in the car. I feel completely ripped off.
So Derbyshire performance replaced my radiator and didn't bother to check the coolent system after? I felt they were not bothered and didn't care once the sale was complete. Which is the opposite of how I felt before the sale. These guys are your absolute used car salesmen stereotypes.
Don't get me wrong. I fully understand that things go wrong from time to time. I bought this car in January. I gave them the benefit of the doubt for the past few months with the radiator issue. They could have had it replaced and checked out properly and solved the problems there and then. But they didn't. Which is why I would avoid this business.
Genuinely appalling...
I purchased a 12k vehicle from DP, within the 900 miles the gearbox malfunctioned, DP advised that i claim under warranty, unfortunately the warranty does not cover the gear box or at least not specific parts which they don't list.
I was forced to pursue a right to repair under the consumer rights act. For the record if you have to do this it will be at your cost and inconvenience due to exclusions in the DP paperwork,
The car was returned to DP on a low loader as i did not want to risk driving it, DP kept the car for 3 weeks, said they could find nothing wrong with it despite me having provided the print outs from the warranty garage and an independent Audi specialist demonstrating the same faults. They then advised me that they have carried out a gearbox service as a courtesy.
DP then advised i could collect the car with next to no fuel in it during a fuel crisis. DP also stated that they would provided supporting documents to validate the works carried out, however 4 weeks later i have received nothing.
Needless to say I will not purchase again.
TERRIBLE COMPANY - STAY AWAY!
TERRIBLE COMPANY - STEER WELL CLEAR & DO NOT BUY FROM THEM! Bought a Suzuki Swift 3 weeks ago, had it delivered. The driver confirmed that the tyre pressure light was on and the tyres just needed pumping up. After visiting 2x separate garages (one a tyre specialist) we were told that the 2x back tyres were only just legal and they were cracking. Both garages recommended new ones as they were cracked, which meant they were dangerous. After speaking to Jay, he told me as the tyres were still legal, he wouldn't do anything, even with the warranty and 2x separate garages confirming the same thing. Now I have to pay and extra £200 for the car to be safe.
REALLY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND NOW STUCK WITH A CAR WHICH IS DANGEROUS!!!
Not happy
Not happy. Bought a £19k Audi 2013 S5. Had it delivered - on a low loader surprisingly. Initially thought: great. Didn't even get 200 miles out of the car before the engine management light came on and we were informed that there was no reverse. Then the car starts juddering and trying to jump out of his hands as it couldn't find a gear. I'm a specialist lawyer. I know my husband's rights. The problem happened in 7 DAYS. They have tried to force me to have the car repaired. NO! We are rejecting the car outright under the Consumer Protection Act 2015 BECAUSE the car developed the fault and it also transpires that they took £11k in cash against the car without issuing any pre contract information and/or advising him of the right to terminate for any reason under the Consumer Contract (Information, Termination and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. Those Regs give you a right to terminate FOR ANY REASON within 14 days BECAUSE you bought at a distance. That can be an offence.
In addition, they are trying to force me to have a repair done under a warranty in place of exercising my statutory rights to end the contract for breaches of the Act. Not at all happy!
I recently placed a deposit on a…
I recently placed a deposit on a vehicle which was advertised on the auto trader website. Although the vehicle was awaiting preparation, I didn't expect to have to wait 2 weeks, constantly chasing them to just get a video and photos. When I said I was happy with the vehicle and I would like to come and view and possibly buy it, they said it needs to be prepared and serviced. So another week waiting with no set date. Sunday, I sent them an email to chase up when the car would be available, they said they would call Monday morning to give me an update. Of course they didn't call so once again, I had to chase it up. When I finally talked to the dealer, he informs me that the car as ECU issues but doesn't know when it will be fixed and therefore, insisted I get my deposit back. They said they would call me when it was sorted and then we could go from there. Two days later, I discovered the same vehicle advertised by another dealer for £1000 more than it was originally advertised. I am absolutely disgusted with this dealer and they have just wasted 3 weeks of my time. I had a feeling they were fobbing me off when they were so insistent I get my deposit back. Clearly they had other plans to auction the car off.
I would definitely not recommend buying from Derbyshire Performance, they are very unprofessional and the customer service is shocking! They claim to be a family run business with a happy buying experience for their customers. Absolutely rubbish!
