Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 69 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Consumers are genuinely upset with the recent recipe updates, reporting that the breakfast cereals now taste completely bland, lack proper flavor, and contain far fewer premium ingredients like nuts and dried fruits. Shoppers also feel extremely frustrated that standard package sizes were noticeably reduced while prices increased significantly across the entire range. Some reviewers were not happy with customer support, stating that corporate responses offered very little help when addressing product complaints. Many loyal buyers feel the business completely ignores consumer feedback, choosing to prioritize short term profits over maintaining decent product quality.

I’ve been a committed fan but it’s gone off

I’ve been a committed fan of the Fantastically Fruity Muesli for many years but they’ve recently changed the formula with less fruit, more grain crunch (they are toasting it?) and less distinctive fruit added. It is no longer fantastic or fruity.
And, they've reduced the package from 600g to 500g for the same price - a 17% price increase!
I’m annoyed as I really liked the old version and will have to find something else now.

If it ain't broke...

I am so upset with the change to the blue, Simply Muesli. The shrinkflation from 650g to 500g is bad enough - so cheeky to keep the box size exactly the same. But I would have put up with that if you hadn't completely wrecked the ingredients too. The taste is totally different, but worse than that, the texture is ruined too. I have been eating this for 10 years plus and am gutted to have find a replacement.
And your website isn't operational so I can't email you directly, hence needing to come and vent here!

No nuts in simply nutty muesli, it is packed with chopped dates - which I dislike!

Simply Fruity dies a death

What has Doreste Cereals done to its once-lovely Simply Fruity muesli? The ingredients have changed radically with the introduction of something that resembles burned cornflakes and far less oats. Too crunchy by far. And while the packet has been redesigned in that irritatingly ‘more modern’ way, don’t be fooled by appearances, as inside the you get a lot less cereal now, 500gm versus the previous 630gm – for which you also pay a much higher price. I’m currently looking for a different manufacturer of a decent muesli. The good days are gone.

I used to buy the granola back in 2011…

I used to buy the granola back in 2011 and was happy to pay each week for the cereal, but now the quality of cereals is abysmal. It’s truly trash; the honey granola, amongst other things, has no clusters. The nutty granola has no nuts! If you do come across an almond you run the risk of cracking your tooth.

They also make Jordans

They also make Jordans, and this is the last packet I will buy. It also explains why I see them stacked up in warehouses where discounters buy foods going out of date. You can't eat the almonds; they are so hard you have to pluck them out. The quality is very poor; they must be going out of business soon. I'm not fastidious. And I can't imagine I am the only one who knows when they are being presented with low-grade foodstuff. I bought them because of the reputation they once had; I bought 3 packs on 3 separate occasions in case it was a case of bad luck. But no, definitely inferior rubbish!

Appalling customer service

I found a foreign object in my muesli, and after contacting Dorset Cereals and sending it off for investigation, they confirmed it was "several hairs embedded in a piece of chopped date". They sent a paltry £8 Dorset Cereals voucher, even though I asked them not to bother, then proceeded to ignore all further emails from me.

Absolutely appalling customer service and I will NOT be buying from this brand again.

No reply to problem

I found a foreign object - a twig - in my mouth whilst eating meusli. I sent a letter to Dorset Cereals on 31 July 2025, enclosing the twig. I didn't get a reply. So I sent an email to pleasetellus email on 19 August. Again, I didn't get a reply. So I sent a follow-up email on 8 September. Again, no reply. I found this Trustpilot website with an address of JDRConsumercare email and send an email on 24 September. Again - no reply. So, 4 failures to get a reply are despite the "friendly" message on their website of "We love to hear from you and we love to answer your questions or queries" and "a member of our friendly care team will take care of your request". So I'm getting increasingly annoyed and planning next steps.

2nd Foreign Materials

This is second time with foreign material experience with Dorset Cereals. This time 4mmx2mm hard material in Simply Nutty BB 2025 SE 17 4261R 21:44. I would no longer trust this brand due to safety. I am a consumer in Canada, in normal case recall of product might be required.

Large lump of black plastic in Berries & Cherries muesli

My husband found a large lump of hard black plastic in the Berries and Cherries muesli. Luckily he didn't break a tooth!
I sent it to them, and they said they would investigate. Finally got a reply, basically denying it was their fault:
"it has no relation to any equipment or machinery we use"
and:
"we are confident that it did not originate from within our facilities"
So how did it get into the sealed packet??
Said they'd send a voucher as a "gesture of good will".
No point, as I will never buy this brand again!
Be careful if you eat this product.

Sharp piece of plastic found in muesli...

Absolutely horrified to have been eating my nutty muesli and come across a sharp piece of black plastic which if swallowed would have caused harm, awaiting response from Dorset Cereals...
Sad really because I was actually enjoying the muesli...

Chocolate Cherry Granola

Chocolate Cherry Granola, is no longer granola.

I've been buying this for years, so was happy to see it on offer in Waitrose.

It's almost unrecognisable now. The discount must be a way to curry favour, due to the recipe change.

One mouthful had actual straw in it!

Should be called 1 nut Muesli

I've been eating Simply Nutty Muesli for years & it was the best on the market but now all change, minimal nut content 6.5% it said on the packet but none that I could find. I will now be trying a different Muesli & I feel that corporate penny pinching has ruined what used to be a great product.

I'm moving on.

Bought 'Honey Granola' and 'Simply Nutty' muesli as a combo for years&years, loved it. Slowly noticed ingredients changing weights / less nuts and missing the quality that makes it worth it / new smaller box / bulking out grams-weight with the cheaper ingredient elements etc. Now even the grams are reduced. Owners take note: nut content in 'simply nutty' is tbh ridiculous. I would pay more for the original contents if manufacturing costs are the problem. Sadly all the changes above mounted up, so I'm off. Better to be upfront with consumers I reckon, as honestly the owners’ strategy has been a bit naff - it’s a different cereal.

Final straw

Final straw. Used to love the honey granola. But the absence of clusters which was the best bit, reduction in honey content and now the box size reduction from 500g to 450g means we’ll be buying something different going forwards. Why not just leave the recipe well alone and put up the price.

Shrinking their boxes

I still like their Honey Granola, but I see they have gone the way of others by shrinking the size of their boxes. I stacked both old and new boxes side by side and there was the proof. From 500g to 450g overnight. Did we notice? Apparently they do it to make themselves look cheaper! Why bother?

Poor product and customer service.

Simply nutty meusli used to be a great product. Sadly, they've reduced the brasils from 8.5% to 1.5% and put a small amount of hazels in.
But recently I was in danger of breaking fillings when I found dozens of whole toasted wheat kernels which are lethal. I raised this on an online form on their website and received no answer, then emailed them with no result. They have a disclaimer saying there may be occasional hard bits. I don't think this covers over thirty.

It all went wrong when Dorset Cereals…

It all went wrong when Dorset Cereals was sold to the current owners who also happen to own Primark. They seem more interested in profit than maintaining quality. I had been buying Simply Fruity muesli for years but these days there seems to be less fruit than ever before. It's just mush in my opinion. Even worse some of their newer lines are only 400 and something grams, not 630 grams even though the packaging is the same height and width. Very crafty; so be careful to read the label when you purchase! Won't be buying any more sadly.
