Amazing Detailed Sleep Data
The Dreem system is fantastic. It's brain wave sensing technology is like nothing else in the consumer market. The extensive amount of data presented in the App interface, and the feedback from the team is incredibly. Having detailed sleep data available every morning showing the time of night and duration of deep sleep, light sleep, REM sleep, awakenings, position changes, and total sleep I had in a night is vastly better than guessing at how I slept. It is a phenomenal tool for determining my sleep patterns, my sleep needs and how to improve my sleep.
The headband is comfortable to wear, and easy to use.
Additionally, the selectable features to aid in getting to sleep, and a wake-up time window make falling asleep and waking easier.
One caveat, while it is far more accurate than other consumer products, I won't go so far as to say it is 100% accurate. I believe at times I have been awake, lying still, with my mind turning over ideas, and Dreem records it as light sleep.

Dreem’s objective measurements of my sleep and elaborate coaching program are really starting to help my sleep interruptions.

You Get Out Of It What You Put Into It
I've had the headband for about 5 months now and wear it nightly. On rare occasion, it has slipped off in the middle of the night but 98% of the time, it stays on without issue. The larger middle portion of the headband is not snug on the top of my head, but that hasn't really caused any issues. With the one-size-fits-all design, there's bound to be some minor fitting issues here and there.
I really wish the device gave you composite sleep score like a rating from 0 to 100. It would be helpful to be able to see a sleep score trend over time.
For the first few nights, it made my sleep worse as I wasn't used to wearing the device. After about it week, I was sleeping normally again and now I feel off if I'm not sleeping without it!
As far as using the device to improve your sleep, the burden is on you. This is the most accurate device you can buy to monitor sleep stages so put your own plan together to find out what tactics and supplements work to improve the total quality of your sleep.
The way I have approached it is to only change one variable at a time and to give that variable change 5-7 days for me to assess whether it is working or not. Here are some things the device has allowed me to discover.
1. Valerian actually has the opposite effect on me - it makes my sleep more restless.
2. Taking Magnesium Glycinate an hour before bed improves my sleep quality.
3. Not eating 3 hours before bedtime has drastically improved my sleep quality.
4. Sleeping alone has improved my overall sleep quality (and my wife sleeps better too!)
5. Taking melatonin before bed doesn't seem to have an effect on my sleep.
I'm getting ready to test CBD oil for a week to see how that changes the quality of my sleep. Again, it's important to constantly be experimenting on yourself, but only change one variable at a time. If you make more than one change simultaneously, you won't know which variable caused things to get better or worse.
In the morning, log all your sleep data in an Excel spreadsheet along with what variable you are testing. Over time, you will learn what unique combo of things improves your sleep the most.
Happy experimenting.

So far I`m really liking it
So far I`m really liking it. I think it`s really cool to have such detailed information on my sleep patterns and I`m excited to see what I can do about them. I`m just starting the built in sleep restructuring program. Interesting that there are often times when I think of myself as awake but it still registers as light sleep on the headband. I`m not sure whether to believe my mind or my brain waves. The headband is a bit weird but it serves the purpose.

Ok...I'm giving this 3 stars because I think that while the product is impressive and well crafted, I think there is substantial room for improvement, most of which is low hanging fruit. Potential for this device is high, and it's the best thing on the market for what it does.
good things:
1. the core tech...it's solid. The data collection and handling and inference is top notch. It's equivalent to a psg.
2. comfort...materials are soft, durable. Device is very comfortable to have on.
needs improvement
1. while the core tech is great, the software on top is so-so. This includes the entire mobile app as well as the user interface on the device itself. The app, while pretty and slick looking, is clunky and difficult to use/navigate. The device too it's unclear what the purpose of the touch interface is besides volume control, and if that's the case, i think it's a wasted interface!
2. Also, the elastic of the device needs to be tighter, it has to much give. Also battery life is crap, need to charge it every day.
3. NO DEEP SLEEP STIMULATION in the usa. So sh!tty, as that alone, if it worked, is enought to buy the device for, and to continue getting value out of it. Support refuses to let me exchange it or enable it.
4. my device literally just stopped working, it will not charge anymore and support is very slow to respond. The customer support around the device is generally pretty confusing, even though it seems to be a big selling point for them.
5. I wish that the company would have taken cpap users into account in the design of the device....doesnt seem like they did.

I love my dreem
I love my dreem. Really helps me to fall asleep faster at night. After using for 2 weeks I am more rested in the morning than I have been in years.
I sleep better than ever before
It helps falling asleep, sleep deeper, get back to sleep after awakenings..
I have been suffering from insomnia for years, and the Dreem headband and app are the very best I have come across.

better sleep but would like more varied programs for falling asleep
I am sleeping better with the headset, and the support from Jonathan as I was learning to use the app was excellent. I wish there were more varied programs for falling asleep, given that individual responses to particular voices are varied and there is only one sample of each approach.

Useful tool and very clear indications for users from your app
I have just completed the second week, using this tool and its linked app: I recognize that it helped me to focus on my sleeping patterns and I can see in this first phase an improvement also in the quality of my nights.

This product is amazing
This product is amazing. It has already taken me from erratic bedtimes that lead to weird sleep patterns to a structured bedtime. I do not wake up in the middle of the night anymore and feel great in the morning!

I trust the sleep data which was my primary interest. My gripes are:
1. They don't provide tailored recommendations based on your specific data other than "stick to your sleep schedule" etc
2. There is no historical charting data of your sleep. You can view data for one day at a time.
3. The in-app instructional video content is laggy. There seems to be a buffering issue. Also, there are only 3 instructional programs that will last a few months. After you're done with those programs, there doesn't appear to be any benefit other than you assessing yourself against your nightly sleep data. For example, I worked out in the late afternoon, how did that affect my sleep? All of this type of research is driven by the user to figure out without assistance from the app.

Overall a very good experience, with one major drawback...
Overall I've been very happy with the Dreem headband. I felt a little weird the first night, but since then it's been pretty innocuous. I love that I can turn on ocean noises to help me fall asleep. This is helping me get to sleep faster, both when I first lie down, and if I wake up in the middle of the night (something I do with unfortunate frequency). The sleep tracking is very accurate (much more so than the app for my watch).
The app has a very nice aesthetic but is a bit awkward in functionality. Sometimes it takes a bit of work to get where I need to want to in the app, and not everything is explained quite as well as I'd hoped. Still, this is a minor issue overall. I feel some of my stumbling around is because this is a complicated topic and piece of hardware, and I'm just over a week into using it. It's fair to expect some sort of learning curve.
Now, on to the major drawback - the lack of deep sleep stimulation for users in the US. Unfortunately for me, my major sleep issue is lack of deep sleep, not insomnia. I tend to get between 30 and 45 minutes of deep sleep a night, which is about half the average. When I was researching products, I read various articles about the benefits of deep sleep stimulation, and I found information about enabling pink noise to help with deep sleep stimulation. After finishing my assessment period, I was surprised to find out I couldn't turn on pink noise for deep sleep stimulation. After digging around, I realized that the page I'd come across with instructions for enabling deep sleep stimulation was written for Great Britain (the only way to tell this is by looking at the language selection at the top - there are distinct selections for English GB and English US). There's an article in the US section on sleep optimization that also references turning on pink noise, but there's another article which states, "the deep sleep stimulation feature wasn't a priority in the context of becoming an FDA-registered medical device." This article doesn't provide any insight into whether or not the feature is coming to the US.
Anyway...this has become much longer than I intended. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the Dreem headband. However, I'm not sure it's worth the price *for me* and my particular sleep issue. I hope Dreem continues to implement new features, and I'll eventually get my deep sleep stimulation feature.

Excellent Product / Communication, Documentation and User Interface need work
So far this is the best comprehensive sleep tracker / analyzer I've found. It is comfortable and after the first few days I easily forget that I have it on. I really like the nightly sleep analyses. They provide really insightful data. The data for position changes, the heart rate and the breaths per minute are really cool. I don't have insomnia so I am using it to provide awareness of how I sleep today and then try different things to see if/how it affects my sleep. I give the unit itself and what it tracks on a nightly basis a 5 rating.
What brings down the rating to a 4 (3.5 really) for me is the user interface, user documentation and reporting. The user interface is a little awkward and it takes some doing to find the support site where there are instructions. It would be nice to include more than the product information cards in the box it comes it. The blue button is the largest thing on the headband but is, as far as I can tell, only the power button. The touch bar seems like a strange thing and I'm still not sure I know all that it does. I can start the sleep tracking from the headset alone now but still cannot figure out how to turn it off in the morning without putting it in the cradle. Also, there's not an easy way to find out what is initially locked and when it will become unlocked (e.g. sounds, programs).
I want there to be a better way to see my data in aggregate. When I export the results to a .csv file, it does NOT contain information related to respiration, heart rate or position changes. These would be important to me to see over time so that I can see if I'm having any affect on them.
Questions I still have after owning this for a little less than a month are 1-Is the company continuously working on improvements and will we get these as part of firmware updates? If so, how are we notified of these updates? 2-I've read as many reviews of the product as I can find and looked through all the support materials provided on the company's support site. Only ONE review said that the 'pink noise' is not activated in the US. All the other reviews (US and otherwise) mention the deep sleep stimulation as a benefit. I still don't know if it is available in the US. Is it? The pink noise was a selling point for me and to bury the fact that it is not going to work here is not good.
So - my review is mixed. The unit and nightly tracking (once you can get it to start) are excellent. The supporting materials are sparse and often difficult to find and the user interface in not very intuitive. I would purchase this product again. I'm just hoping that there will be continued improvements and new features related to getting and using the data.

Dreem Band is accurate. Suitable for Sleep Restriction Therapy.
The Dreem Band is enabling me to start SLEEP RESTRICTION THERAPY (SRT).
I suffer from a idiosyncratic sleep pattern which has a coma/trance-like/loss-of-consciousness quality that anesthesizes my awareness of my body and my surroundings and prevents me from knowing or even guessing how much time I spend awake when I’m in bed.
But SRT requires the patient to estimate sleep duration. Sleep duration estimation is fundamental to SRT. What to do? So over the years I have tried out a lot of expensive sleep measuring gadgets. They all showed that I was sleeping fine when in fact I was sleeping terrible and suffering almost everyday from severe sleep deprivation.
So how do I know that the Dreem Band is accurate? Here’s how: A few months ago I devised a method to measure my time asleep. This involved a data logger, finger switch and audible prompt. My system showed a sleep time of 5 hours typical with occasionally 3 hours. When I received the Dreem I found that it agreed almost exactly with the system which I had invented - but is more convenient. Why is the Dreem accurate? It’s got to be the EEG. The other gadgets had the same sensors as Dreem except EEG.
Didn't work out this time
1) The headset had trouble connecting to the internet so I wasn't actually able to go through the setup process to try it out.
2) the trial period they offer (14 days) is the stingiest in the industry, seriously guys, should be at least 30 days.
3) They claim that it's travel friendly, but the charging case is SO HEAVY, it's like packing a brick into your luggage.
The return process went well though and the customer service, while slow, was pretty responsive.
Hopefully they can improve upon these issues. I'd love to give this unit another shot in the future and update my review accordingly.
