My son bought a Peugeot 308 (AP15 TJG)…

My son bought a Peugeot 308 (AP15 TJG) from Evans Halshaw , what he thought was a low mileage , one owner for £5500 in Nov 24. They really pushed him to buy it on finance but he stood firm used all his savings and purchased the car and the additional 2 year warranty for £995. Within 2 months we had to take it back for an engine management unit replacement costing almost £900. This was covered by warranty but he had no car for almost a month as the dealer and pendragon (warranty) argued who was paying. Fast forward to Aug 25 car the is booked in for MOT & service at Darlington Evans Halshaw. They return car all sorted , well we thought! In March 26 the car suddenly goes into limp mode and engine management light comes on. It Takes over 3 weeks before we can get Evans Halshaw in Darlington to get the car in and we have to pay £165 for them to perform diagnostics . The car is in the garage for over a week and we hear nothing and we spend hours trying to get through on the phone (they just don’t pick up , sometimes for over 40mins). They say it’s an engine failure oil, coolant and fuel mixed in the cylinders & it needs new engine !!’ To date we have never received the mechanics report 8 weeks later. Adele at EH initially says the warranty will replace engine and they need to contact EH peugot to price everything, this takes 5 further weeks and numerous hours chasing them to get progress. Then they tell us the the warranty is invalid as there is no record of a service ? They had not performed a service but a health check & MOT in aug 25 so they aren’t going to repair the car. It’s our word against theres that it should have been serviced. Unless we pay over £7500 for the work doing they aren’t doing anything! They then after another 2 weeks they send us an email saying that we have 24 hours of remove the car from their Darlington branch or they will charge us £30 a day for storage. My son has had no choice but today to get the car collected by a salvage company (who have been excellent) and scrap the car for £400, he cannot afford to pay huge amounts to get this car fixed. Evans Halshaw have still have still not sent us the mechanics report. Truss pilot claim this is not a genuine report but I can supply V5 , purchase invoice , MOtlT certificates , emails etc

Disgraceful experience

After reading some of the reviews I’m even more shocked if that is even possible we have had nothing but stress. Disgraceful customer service, treatment from the garage is awful ignoring phone calls & emails. After a warning light appeared on the dash and being told from a private reliable garage that there was a problem with the engine we brought it to the branch as the car was under warranty which we paid for at an extra cost. They failed to keep us in the loop and fix the car which was purchased only a few months ago from Evan’s halshaw. We were left over a month without a car, no courtesy car or help provided. Made to feel like we were a problem when all we wanted was our car fixed. I couldn’t stress to avoid anymore. I wish we had seen these reviews won’t be any further dealings with such a disgraceful branch! We have now collected our car with no trust or faith what so ever that the fault has actually been repaired trading standards and ombudsman have been contacted.

I can’t even describe how disgraceful…

I can’t even describe how disgraceful this service has been AVOID AT ALL COSTS, I booked my car in due to it going into limp mode. I was fobbed off at every turn, completely ignored and left in the dark. The staff were incredibly rude, lazy and argumentative. I was made to feel like I was asking someone to do me a favour, even tho I’ve literally paid £1000 for a warranty and had the car less than 6 month ( although I bought from another Evan’s halshaw) my phone calls and emails were constantly ignored to the point where the service department actually blocked my number, the car was on site from 8th of April and I got it back the 7th of May, I was told I’d have to pay £157 PER HOUR for diagnostics and also £20 pound a day for a COURTESY CAR, I was told a courtesy car would be arranged for the 20th April which was not followed through I was left without a car for well over a month with no replacement. I was told the car was fine so picked the car up twice only to find that fault was still there driving home and had to get an uber home from the dealership TWICE!. I have the car back now and was told all that was wrong was a £15 sensor and told in future to take it back to the dealership I bought it from for any further issues, basically they don’t want anything to do with it. Worst customer service experience of my life and will never use this garage again.

Disgusting customer service.

Purchased a new car on PCP at Evans Halshaw Darlington. All documents signed remotely. Rejected the car immediately. I was refused a cancellation of the deal and refused my old vehicle back (stranded 35 miles from home). They have, wrongly denied this is a distance sale. Threatened me with storage fees if I didn’t collect the new vehicle.

Even after discovering issues with their paperwork they are refusing to unwind the deal. Instead offering me a deal whereby they keep the new car and keep my part ex vehicle. 👎

Zero feedback and updates and my car…

Zero feedback and updates and my car had to stay way longer than planned due to a part not being available, then it stayed even longer as the wrong part arrive. Despite being told on 2 occassions I will be phoned with updates, I did not receive any calls. I had to phone so many times to get an update but the phones are simply not answered. Very poor customer service.

Not the best experience at this…

Not the best experience at this dealership. Visited to look at a used car. Car was filthy inside and out, so much so that all of the windows had been wound down and air freshener used in an attempt to hide the pungent smell. Still took the car for a test drive, which only made the car smell worse as it was in the carpets and air-conditioning. Previous owner must have owned a dirty dog or other animals.

Explained to Daniel what the issue was with the smell, who looked blankly at me, and after advising that I would be interested still but the whole car needed a deep clean and cabin filter etc needed to be replaced. Yet again very little discussion from Daniel, who didn’t really appear that interested.

Asked him to let me know once everything was done, and I’d return for another test drive. However I haven’t had a single phone call or email from him since. They obviously aren’t interested in getting my business, even though I drove almost an hour to get to them.

Terrible experience throughout

Terrible experience throughout! Purchased a car unseen due to travel / distance limitations and paid for home delivery. The car was dropped off and the driver reversed into a wheelie bin in the street, claiming the sensors were ignored. Found out the rear sensors did not actually come with the car although was advertised as such, the car was disgusting inside and looked as if it had been repossessed and dumped for weeks on end untouched. Thick con webs in the windows, garden / tree leaves in the inside pockets of the doors, previous owners belongings still inside the car, as well as sticky fluids / substances coating the windows and steering wheel, as well as stained seats and interior. The car was also delivered with tyre underinflation warnings. The car was collected by the dealership who promised this would be returned fully valeted, in which is was returned to me in exactly the same condition but a rear sensor installed to keep me happy. I have since requested to raise a complaint twice and have been ignored for 2 weeks as the original resolution was to give me £100 to have the car cleaned myself, insulting as I paid nearly 10.9k in total. Appalling and would not recommend to anyone.

A poor service from the outset

A poor service from the outset, followed by a sequence of poor and weak excuses, finishing up by returning the vehicle without a wash or valet and the vehicle smelling like a mechanics workshop, just in time for Xmas.
Evans Halshaw still more than happy however to lift £400 from my pocket and even dare to try and charge £30 to to the coolant up.
Dreadful!

Sold me brand new faulty electric van

Bought brand new electric van on 25th November - having returned previous brand new van to finance company due to 10 months off issues
When collected van it showed 12v battery warning on screen, was told it will sort itself out. Few days later, preconditioning not working on schedule (required before driving) and 12v warning still alerting me - had to take morning off work (losing money) so can could go for diagnostics, needed 5 software updates (despite been told when collected the van that all updates had been done) and the battery analysis said it was at only 58% health - was told they’ll send info to Ford and get back to me. Schedule for preconditioning persistently not working and kept sending screenshots / evidence as await Ford response. Was promised call back 4 days ago, which didn’t happen
So, stuck with brand new van that keeps giving 12v battery warning, doesn’t precondition on schedule, no one responding to emails anymore or calling back when they’d promised!
I’m also going to have to take further time off work to have issues resolved, which shouldn’t have been present when I collected the brand new van - all this after 10 months of issues with previous Ford electric van
Disgraceful that I’ve been left with faulty van and no one returning emails or calls
No option but to now reject the van

SOLD A DANGEROUS CAR KNOWING IT WAS FAULTY - AVOID AT ALL COSTS

SOLD A DANGEROUS CAR KNOWING IT WAS FAULTY - AVOID AT ALL COSTS

I cannot express how dangerous and dishonest this dealership is. I bought a car here after enduring high-pressure sales tactics to buy a warranty I didn’t want. Just two weeks later, the oil light came on and the engine suffered catastrophic failure while I was driving on the A19 with my partner and 6-year-old child. It was a terrifying situation.

When I called for help, they refused to assist with recovery, telling me to sort it myself. One of the salesman who sold me the car, was incredibly rude to my father on the phone and actually told me to just "drive" a misfiring vehicle or tow it myself. I had to call 7 times and escalate to the Service Manager just to get them to agree to collect their own broken vehicle.

The most shocking part: We later found a review from someone who had bought this exact car a week before me. They returned it the next day for the exact same oil/engine failure. The dealership "patched it up" and sold it to me without disclosing the major fault, putting my family’s safety at risk.

While I eventually got a refund for the car, they promised to reimburse my travel expenses (school runs, etc.) as a gesture of goodwill. They are now ignoring all my emails.

Do not buy from here. They are rude (especially Mo), their after-sales care is non-existent, and they are happy to sell you a death trap that has already been returned by another customer.

We were attended to by Mo Khalid and he was superb from start to finish in assisting my elderly mother in law purchasing the car she wanted. His manner and attention to detail was first class and he organised the preparation of the vehicle and the arrangements for handover with great professionalism. Finally, a card and a bunch of flowers made my MiL’s day complete. Sometimes you read reviews and wonder if AI or some stooge has written them. This is from a genuinely happy customer who has no hesitation in recommending Mo. I hope you and your boss read this Mo: a job well done.

Worthless warranty

Purchased a low miles used Suzuki from the Darlington branch. Car came with their 3 month warranty. During the third week and after only 250 miles the clutch failed. We had the car recovered and rang them next day. They said they are unable to recover vehicles so we had to arrange to get it to them, which we did at our expense. Couple of days pass and receive a call saying it is our fault the clutch has gone, because we have been ‘riding’ the clutch. Strange we put 40,000 miles on our last Suzuki with no issues? As it was our fault, we would have to pay £1500 for the repairs. I questioned this and said we wanted to return the for full refund. Was told I could, but the £1500 would be deducted from the payment? A week passed and we received a call asking if we would like the repair done. I said no. In the meantime expecting the worst, I had contacted Sims Suzuki in Darlington and got a quote for £770 for the job with genuine parts. I was prepared to have EH assemble the car and tow it the couple of miles to have it fixed. Then received a call saying they would do the repairs for £500 to cover the parts. I reluctantly agreed, still believing it should have been a warranty claim. The car repaired and picked up by my brother as I could not leave the shop. He immediately put it in his workshop and had to adjust the clutch as it was incorrectly set up. He also did the handbrake which I had asked them to do as it was on the last ‘click’ despite having a new MOT on purchase. He was surprised that the brakes had not been checked during the service carried out before delivery and they had not noted the mix of tyres on the car. In conclusion, very disappointed with the pre delivery preparation of the car. We now have a major oil leak issue but have not contacted EH because I feel no assistance would be forthcoming. The sales girl Joanne was brilliant, a credit to the company. But after sales and warranty is pretty worthless in my opinion.

Cowboys

Went to have this place for a used car a found a fiesta ecoboost that I liked sat in sales area doing all the paperwork to purchase the car put a 1000 pound deposit down and got told the car would be ready by the following Wednesday on the day of pick up I got a phone call from Evans halshaw Darlington saying the car would not be ready as the so called parts were wrong so I said no worries and left it at that a week later I recieved a phone call saying the car was ready I went and got the car they had stamped the pre delivery service book but not one invoice to say what had been done it then dawned on me that this was a ecoboost with a wet belt and yes you guessed it the car was 10 years old meaning that the wet belt should have been changed and yes I fell into the salesman ship con of a extended warranty, I contacted ford uk about the wet belt and they agreed with me that the wet belt should have been i contacted Evans halshaw Darlington about this and the service manager told the receptionist we did enough to get it through a mot.. Evans halshaw Darlington sold me a car knowing that the engine could blow up any time so I had take it to a independent ford garage in darlington where I had to pay 850 pounds to get the wet belt done ... they need to hang their heads in shame selling cars that are not fit for the purpose and lining there pockets with the commission they steal of customers with there fake warranties they even sent the log book off to Swansea stating Evans halshaw ford Darlington was the owner if they can't get the simplest of things right then you know fine well your in trouble.... don't get ripped off going to this company you would probably be better off going to a back street garage

Visited Evans Halshaw Darlington on…

Visited Evans Halshaw Darlington on Tuesday to view a car, spoke to Mark from the sales team who was very helpful and informative, we decided to ‘think about it’. Went back to the showroom on Thursday - unfortunately Mark was a day off but was helped by Mo who was equally as friendly and informative, he was very patient and took time to explain processes. With Mo’s help and his colleagues we bought our car. Everybody in the branch is very friendly and welcoming, there’s also free complimentary hot drinks. I would recommend this showroom and the team .
