COWBOYS
COWBOYS, We had a deeply alarming experience with Evans Hanshaw Kia Hull. This was a second hand car (Nissan Pulsar), and twice their repairs endangered our lives. After a few days of having the car, I experienced absolute brake failure, no brakes at all while driving, which was absolutely terrifying as a 26 year old driver. When this happened, they asked me to drive it in, but I refused due to the lack of brakes. They sent people out to collect it, and they told me, in their own words, they would “drive it back using the handbrake”, despite this being unsafe and illegal. They also admitted the part they installed had failed.
I’m glad I recorded every conversation on the phone and in person, because we knew something wasn’t right. After we got the car back, we noticed they had tampered with our dashcam footage, deleting recordings of them driving the car back to the shop and the time it was in the repair shop. Then they said it was fixed, they delivered it to us, and the car was making a loud thump over speed bumps. They had not attached the brake lines to the car correctly.
We messaged GARY ! several times, as he told us to contact him directly, but every single message was ignored. They still ignored us. We want to know if the car is under warranty still, but no reply. We had to pay to have our car fixed to a safe standard at another garage.
That’s not to mention the dodgy MOT they put on it that was suposed to be a full clean mot , when in fact it had advisories and a broken coil spring (MOT FAILURE ) :
Slight play in N/S/F prop link ( Advisory )
Rear axle brake pipes need securing & routing ( Advisory )
Rear axle brake flexis – slight corrosion on ferrules ( Advisory )
O/S/F spring broken ( FAIL )
Front brake pads 80% worn ( Advisory )
O/S/F tyre low on edges, also N/S/F ( Advisory )
Rear brake pads 75% worn ( Advisory )
O/S/R brakes slight bind ( Advisory )
N/S/F suspension arm, front bush splitting ( Advisory )
........ funny because it only passed WITH A CLEEN MOT days before. AND Now the car’s clutch is slipping. Also, when we bought the car, they never bothered to valet it like promised, chewy on the back seat and the FRONT seat smelt like urine.
I strongly urge anyone to avoid this dealership for your SAFETY.

Good service from all the staff
Good service from all the staff. I was assigned to Conner, and he, along with Brian, Carlo, and the rest of the team, were all very helpful. As everything took a little longer to sort out with my car at short notice, they kindly provided me with lunch.

Sharp practice not worthy of a main dealer
Quoted £170 for a service at main dealer only to be told when I turn up that it's £370! I can have the £170 service but it will invalidate the 5 years left on my KIAs warranty (not told this when booking). Management attitude stinks - don't want to discuss complaints and just say "take it or leave it"

Had annual service - items not checked................
Went for annual service, according to service paper, it's two hours. The car was back in one hour. The service list showed ticks in all boxes, so everything checked and ok!
I was suspicious, so checked the obvious things like brake fluid (which was ticked off as being checked), two days prior I was going to fill up the brake fluid reservoir as it was VERY low. It had been topped off at all, still dangerously low. The washer water was the same - untouched. I checked the door hinges, which should be lubricated - not done. Even tyre rotation was ticked as being done - not done. It would take around forty minutes to rotate the tyres, including the spare and the car was back in an hour.
These things I checked whilst at home, the next day. So I decided to drive down to Evans Halshaw to have a word with them. I spoke to the aftersales manger, who after hearing my compliant, had to agree that it didn't sound correct at one hour. After all I had checked a few obvious, easy to check item from the service list - you have to wonder how much had not been done that I hadn't or was unable to check myself. The urgent issue here being the very low brake fluid - if left at that level and no-one had checked it, then the consequences could have been extremely dire.
We pay a lot of money to have our vehicles maintained and to be let down in this most obvious of ways, is quite frankly disgusting - being as it was so blatantly obvious that the car had not been checked properly.
The aftersales manager, suggested that I bring the car back again and it would be rechecked and he would make sure the top mechanic did the work (wonder if it really was the top mechanic)?
Anyway I returned a few days later and the car was rechecked, with the exception of a test drive and tyre rotation, I had explained these two were not required at this time. I received the completed service record after an Hour ???? This time some items had been noted as N/A, which was good, as at least they knew what should or should not be applicable for the car.
Needless to say, apart from an apology by the aftersales manager, that was all that was said on the issue. I decided to right this review, to let other people know, that just because it's the main dealer servicing your car, don't presume it's been done correctly.
Check as much as you can after the service, check how long it took. Most of all check that brake fluid - wouldn't want an accident to happen further down the road, if it hadn't been filled up to level or flagged as a possible problem.

Poor sales experience
First time I've bought a Kia, but was most suitable vehicle to meet our needs as a second vehicle.
First visit, very rushed and disorganised, they were busy but felt like a number, not someone buying a 1 year old top end Sportage.
Scheduled a day and time to collect it, arrived and they were not prepared for handover due to moving into new showroom. Waited nearly an hour, before they said ok, we need to do xyz and physically go to post office with them sort out v5 as was originally registered disabled.
I had emailed them 2 days before cofirming handover schedule advising I had booked time off work and couldnt run late due meetings etc. a simple phone call to reschedule could have resolved this.
So we had to literally leave with no handover possible.
We had to travel back home again and come back later in the afternoon for second attempt, which meant I had to book more time off work and each trip was an hour and half round trip.
When purchasing I stated it had 8 miles of fuel in it and needed a good valet. I again in my email 2 days prior to handover requested that some fuel be put in it, wasn't asking for full tank, just some.
During handover, very rushed.. valet was very poor standard, and fuel stated 3 miles, I mean come on 3 miles!
It had no floor Matt's at all, smudges and marks all over due to poor valet and the windows hadn't even been cleaned inside.
As we were already frustrated from the morning, we just wanted to leave.
I emailed them afterwards explaining all this and requested a set of floor mats as a gesture of goodwill, nothing else, just floor mats.
Didn't even get a reply, just ignored.
Now 1 month later, still haven't received v5 through, so still can't put private registration on it and having to chase them again!
We have two vehicles and change them every 2-4 years and are middle aged and Never had an experience like this.
Car is lovely now I've cleaned it properly and bought our own floor mats etc.
Shame about the experience and really hoping nothing goes wrong with it, as dread the thought of having to liaise with dealership again.

Am I just a number now I have made my purchase
There was no acknowledgement upon arrival at the service area. There was only one person on duty but even so there was no "Sorry for you wait I will be with you as soon as I have finished serving this customer. This make the customer being served at ease and also make the customer waiting feel valued. There were several empty chairs but no invitation to take a seat whilst I waited. I am nearly 70. Otherwise efficient and courteous.
