Good price for "value" service. However Service engineer recommended unnecessary work, which I declined. Also car not cleaned inside or outside as requested and on job sheet.

Left my wife's Motability car for a service and was assisted by a charming young lady who was very helpful and pleasant. She even brought my courtesy car round to the entrance. The exchange later was equally easy and stress free. The service ladies are all a pleasure to deal with and a credit to your company.

From the moment we stepped into the dealership we were ignored. About 7 minutes later some man at a desk asked my husband if he could help him and when my husband said that I (wife) was looking for car he still addressed my husband. We were not invited to sit down at his desk - he left us standing. I was specific about what I was looking for and asked the prices of the two models outside. He said one was his. And then he reluctantly looked up the price of the other. This man never asked our budget - which was £26000, was so unhelpful and rude that we just said thank you and walked out. Both of us were shocked at the poor service. That man is either a sexist or just doesn’t want to sell cars in general. We ended up buying a new car from BYD for over £33000 from an amazing salesman in Wakefield. A lesson for this dealership to learn.

I recently bought a used Mercedes C220 from Evans Halshaw Wakefield and was delighted with the service I received and especially the car.Living 200 miles away in Scotland made it a little more difficult but John made it so easy. He sent me a personal video of the car outside and inside and I was so impressed I bought it there and then. The car needed an MOT and that was done next day with no problems. We did everything online and John kept me updated on a daily basis and arranged to have the car delivered to my home in Scotland a few days later.
I am delighted with the car and also the service, professionalism and communications I received.
Well done to John and the team at Wakefield.

Quoted online to get a price to sell my car, which came back at £4186. I completed the questionnaire (& was totally upfront with the condition of the car) & was given a price of approx £3984. I called Evan Halshaw & spoke to John & arranged a time to bring the car in for inspection. He took the car away & came back with a price of £2800. Absolute joke. He stated the boot was damp & had mold in it. Rubbish. Upon driving home the car would not de-fog so I could barely see out of the windows & the windscreen wipers were making an horrendous noise (i had driven the car to the dealership for an hour with no issues). Upon inspection in the morning we discovered the wiper had been broken. My husband called the dealership to complain about the quote on the way home & spoke to a manager. During the conversation he put my husband onto another person who should not be allowed anywhere near a phone as his customer service was disgusting. The manager came back onto the phone & apologised for the other guy. He arranged to call my husband back today after he had spoken to John, however this never happened. The customer service is appalling. I have used other branches of Evans Halshaw in the past with great customer service, but this experience has put me off them forever. Now I await my automated apology from this review.

A stressful and drawn out bad experience with the Wakefield branch.
They sold me a used Porsche Cayenne in May 2025; I enquired about it and collected it same week- great! However, EH failed to do any mechanical and condition checks before selling the vehicle (supplying no paperwork in this respect) and subsequently a serious engine failure became apparent within a couple of weeks.
I took it to a local garage for repair, they fixed a leak. When I contacted EH I was advised they would cover the costs only if I confirmed in writing that the payment was a full and final settlement of the issue. Of course, I couldn’t confirm this, and this made me quite cautious of the tactics they were trying to use to absolve themselves of any responsibility. The engine fault reappeared days later and I returned to the local garage to be advised there was in fact numerous leaks coming from various parts of the engine and they recommended the car be returned to dealer due to the extensive nature of the works required.
I requested the mechanical and condition checks from them at this point and they ignored my email. A number of subsequent phone calls went ignored too until I finally got hold of the manager (via the Middlesbrough branch) who told me that they would collect the vehicle and repair.
The car was returned a week or so later, and the engine failure light returned. It took over 6 weeks to finally make contact with EH Wakefield as the manager there was always out of the branch or unavailable. When I finally spoke to them, I was told they would not be willing to take the vehicle back despite consumer protection laws. I was told I should have taken out extended warranty - This is NOT necessary and another sales tactic. Consumers are protected by law.
After a solicitors letter and subsequent chasers I was finally told the car would be collected. To make matters worse, they collected it but dropped off a replacement electric vehicle (removing the at home charger from the car) without notification. This car also had an engine light on and it is clear the battery has issues- leaving me in extremely stressful situations many times over the course of the few weeks in my possession.
The car is repaired now 6 months later- I hope. However, the experience was really horrible and stressful. An apology was never given or compensation of any kind. In fact, EH Wakefield tried to pull the wool over my eyes and only followed their legal obligations to me as a consumer once their legal team reviewed our letter before action. It is a shame that EH do not consider the impact of their poor service and I strongly advise some further training is provided to the team.

I would give this place zero stars if I could avoid it or you will get ripped off for the past month I have been calling to get a refund on the alloy cover and paint protection cover I cancelled the policy the insurance company that covers this said that they transferred the funds back to the dealer and I have to get It back from them all I have got through them is that they are checking the accounts or they say they will call me back and never do I’ll be contacting a solicitor now as I’ve had enough, also the car I bought from them has multiple issues I took the car into another Evan’s halshaw because it was close and a Ford dealer and they said the turbo is packing up so in order to get my car in for repairs they have to invoice the original dealer, problem is that they aren’t even responding to their emails from that dealer so they can’t get my car in and it’s still under warranty it’s a massive headache the won’t give me money owed to me and I’m stuck with a broken car please buy your car elsewhere I regret trading in my old one. Edit 26/10/25 Ford focus KO19AEA update they kept on denying that the turbo had and issue for months and I had their courtesy car for months also, they booked it in with Ford garage batley which to my humour they said it’s an old code “low boost pressure” even when the code had been deleted multiple times and I’ve come back with the car in actual limp mode with video evidence so I threatened with court action as they were refusing to repair the car i imagine because of the cost of the turbo is why they refused even when the car is under warranty. Total of 4 times the car has been back to them and they refused repair and went on for nearly 4 months after all this messing about a new used car sales manager gave me the option to buy back my car or put on a reconditioned turbo I opted to take my money back because I do not trust them one bit they tried even duping me for the mileage I used on the courtesy car I wasn’t letting that happen. So lesson learned got most of my money back never ever using Evan’s halshaw ever again absolutely by far the worst experience I’ve had with a vehicle take your money elsewhere please.

Julie in the Service Team was great for start to finish. Got me booked in, dropped off first thing which was convenient and then called in good time for me to collect when promised at 4pm - no problem in sorting the payment over the phone with our Finance team. Great experience, will always take our van there for servicing and maintenance - thank you

Utterly awful experience! I would seriously think twice before visiting or worse, buying from this garage! First issue, I was lied to about the car’s service history (claiming a full service history). I found out that wasn’t true when I cross referenced the mileage from the service book with MOT records. When I enquired about it on the test drive I was told it had been serviced at their garage - which wasn’t mentioned previously for some reason? On the test drive the car hadn’t been valeted prior to my arrive (which granted wasn’t their fault since the company they used didn’t show) however the car was very dirty and had a cheese straw rapper in the driver’s side pocket lol. The final issue, and the most disappointing, was that I paid a “fully refundable” £99 deposit to reserve the car as they instructed. When I emailed the salesman requesting the refund after deciding not to buy the car, I was told it would be in my account within 10 business days. 10 business days later I called the garage and was ignored twice. When I finally got through to them they passed me from person to person, until I was finally told to call back on Monday. I then gave them my bank details and was told it would be in my account within 10 business days. 10 business days later I still didn’t have the refund and was told they had problems with their system. I was then told that their same day payment ends at 2:30pm and so would have to wait over the weekend before having it back into my account. More than 24 business days waiting in total and still haven’t received the refund…

Waited 3 1/2 hours for a service. Had to chase up after 2 hours when told a new tyre was needed. 1 1/2 hours later the tyre was fitted! Nobody came to see if I was ok, apologise for the delay. The coffee machine was not working for normal coffee. I was the second person in in the morning too. Never again!

Tommy showed endless patience when dealing with us ( we're old school technophobes) he found us the car we wanted at another dealership, and had it delvered to wakefield for a test drive. He went above and beyond for us, so thank you Tommy, you were brilliant.
