Beautifully traditional small hotel. Just what you would want. Charming staff, discreet and welcoming. The room was lovely. Proper personal coffee service at breakfast, no horrible coffee machine!!

Friendly, quiet, convenient
A nice hotel right in the middle of Centro Classico, but on a quiet little side street. Very helpful and friendly staff and a decent breakfast. I'll definitely consider staying here the next time I'm in Rome!

All the amenities you will need!
We had the suite, which was spacious and comfortable. We made use of the closet and dresser, which made it feel like home. The beds and pillows were nice, the bedroom could be darkened and the outside street noise (on occasion there was some minor noise) could be silenced. The bathroom was clean and nice. We enjoyed the morning breakfast as well.
Also the location is perfect - a bit outside the touristy area, but close to all the sights.
We enjoyed our stay and recommend Hotel Portoghesi to other travellers.

This hotel is in an excellent location…
This hotel is in an excellent location - very close to Piazza Navona. There is always someone at the front desk even though it is a smallish boutique. Very clean. Nice rooftop patio for breakfast and hanging out.
We loved being in a small hotel
We loved being in a small hotel, not very expensive, and in great location near Piazza Navona; yet it was on a quiet , non-crowded street. We loved the good continental breakfast on the roof each day (no elevator access to roof but ok to all bedrooms) and access to roof patio for relaxing outside at anytime of day with our friends, who were also staying in hotel. The staff was welcoming and helpful with questions and taxis, and rooms were cleaned well and efficiently.

Perfect location for a hotel
Perfect location for a hotel. We walked everywhere (Vatican, Pantheon, Trevi fountain, Spanish steps, Piazza Navona, Colosseum, etc). Room was nice and quiet. Lovely terrace for breakfast or afternoon/evening drink. Hotel staff very helpful with suggestions or making reservations (like calling a cab).

We spent 3 nights here
We spent 3 nights here. We loved this hystorical hotel in the heart of Rome.
pros: - friendly receptionists, housemaids
- absolutely centre, near famous places
- authentic, charming buliding, nice view of the room
- easy communication
contras: -a little bit dated(wallpaper, brown blanket is not higienic-just put on the sheet)
- no minibar or fridge in the room(but you can put food or drink to a common fridge on the ground floor just ask at the reception)
- super breakfast but not kind waitress (the hotel was full of american guests, the waitresses were only friendly with them, when somebody entered, asked if he were an american- so we felt they were definitely rude and phlegmatic with us
In sum its okay, we felt very well ourselves.
Great location
Great location! You are 10 mins away from most of the top attractions in Rome. Also the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful! Definitely recommend this hotel for first time travelers.

We love the Portoghesi
We love the Portoghesi. Both of our parents stayed their in the past. And its been renovated since then. Unfortunately even though we booked several months in advance, we were giving a room on the first floor, street-side and when we requested. quieter room, you did not reespond. Also the shower is possibly the smallest we've ever encountered. Otherwise a great experience!!
Perfect spot for us in Rome
The hotel was in a great location. We were able to walk to the Vatican, the Colusseum, the Borghese Gallery, the Pantheon and more. Lots of restaurants and shops nearby, but really, they are all over the town. The hotel rooms are good, bathrooms great, but the best part was the staff at the front desk and the staff at the breakfast service. I never saw the maintenance staff, but our rooms were cleaned well every day. Everyone was very helpful and friendly to us...a great team!

Wonderful location- 10- 15 minutes walk from many sites. helpful friendly staff. Lovely breakfast room and terrace
Affordable, elegant accommodation in a great location
Such a lovely hotel, and in a great location. The staff is courteous and professional, and the single room that I booked was comfortable and reasonably priced. And a hearty breakfast buffet completes the picture. Highly recommended.

Shhhhh, keep this wonderful place secret
I've been staying here since the 1990's. The staff are lovely and helpful. This is a hotel one would hope for, with kind and attentive service.
It's a hidden gem in central Rome.

The location is great
The location is great. My room was small, but cozy. There was not much natural light - not much the hotel can do about that - but enough lamps. Staff was friendly. There were no English language TV stations, but the staff explained why, and the steps they are taking so that there will be soon in the future. One thing that was not a problem for me, but might affect others is that the breakfast room is only accessible by stairs from the third floor. Breakfast was good.

The hotel’s booking website down.
Unable to book rooms. The hotel’s website is down for bookings beyond June 2024 with dates for repairs to the website continually being extended. Not good!!
