Beautifully traditional small hotel. Just what you would want. Charming staff, discreet and welcoming. The room was lovely. Proper personal coffee service at breakfast, no horrible coffee machine!!

We have stayed here before this is probably the 6 or 7th time. Location is perfect you can walk to all the major sights. Lots of local non tourist type restaurants as well as those catering to tourist.
My home whenever in Rome
I have stayed at the Porthogesi several times already. I very much appreciate the friendliness of staff, the location of the hotel and just everything. I am sure to return many many times in future.
Rome's Little Gem
The Hotel Portoghesi is a lovely little gem set in a neighborhood of cozy shops and restaurants, then polished to a high gleam by its attentive staff (notably Giuseppe and David at the front desk, and the always-smiling Vincenza serving an array of breakfast options each morning on the top floor). All-in-all, The Hotel Portoghesi offers comfortable lodging with a personal touch that larger, swankier hotels can't match.

Charmimg hotel in a quiet, historic, central location. Friendly, helpful staff enhanced our stay in a large, comfortable room with a well-equipped bathroom. Sorry that I was unable to sample breakfast on the terrace.

A little gem of a hotel
My two friends and I stayed in the apartment of hotel. With its 2 king-sized beds and very large bathroom, it could easily accommodate four people. The location of the hotel is ideal for walking to the historic sites. A highlight of our stay was the great European breakfast served on the 3rd floor which included an outdoor patio.

Our 'Go To' choice when in Rome
We have stayed at this hotel a number of times and we enjoy it thoroughly. It is extremely convenient for walking to major destinations, e.g. Vatican, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, etc.
The rooms are nice and generally quiet. The air conditioning works great.
Some rooms have smaller beds than others which is a minor critique.
The front desk folks are very helpful! We plan on staying here the next time we are in Rome!

The customer service at this boutique hotel is first rate. We appreciated the guidance of our host in our plans and also his suggestion to head to the train station earlier than we had planned in order to avoid traffic and be assured to get a taxi. Breakfast was delightful and the view felt so non-touristy! I loved seeing the small barbershop in front of the hotel.

We had a great experience at Hotel Portoghesi
We had a great experience at Hotel Portoghesi. The front desk staff are knowledgeable and eager to help. The room was clean and quiet with fine furnishings. The bathroom had great light. Maybe add a magnifying mirror??? Breakfasts were great on the roof top made better with lovely ladies making coffee. The hotel is well located for visiting Rome.

I had a pleasant quiet room
I had a pleasant quiet room at the hotel and loved having breakfast on the terrace. (Somehow I never managed to enjoy it in the afternoon and alas at night there were private parties.) Both of the concierges were helpful and as well as nice. There was a problem with the toilet one day and it was resolved quickly. The location allowed me to walk to several of the places I wanted to see. I will stay here again!

Wonderful first visit to Rome
Our room was large, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent. Location was perfect—all activities and major sites are within a 30 to 40 minute walk at the most. Via di Portoghesi has a variety of shops and restaurants within a few yards of the hotel. Most important of all, every staff person was professional and kind.

A Trip of A Lifetime
Our recent stay at this hotel was an absolute delight! From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with warmth and professionalism. The room exceeded our expectations with its beautiful architecture, rooftop views, and impeccable cleanliness. The attention to detail was evident in every corner, and the comfortable bed ensured a restful night's sleep. The hotel's location in a warm and friendly neighborhood only added to the appeal of being immersed in the Italian culture. What truly set this hotel apart was its dedicated staff, notably Mr. David Schinzari and Mr. Giuseppi Coppola, who were always ready to assist with a smile and a wealth of local knowledge. We left with unforgettable memories and a desire to return soon, making this hotel an exemplary choice for anyone seeking a perfect Roman holiday.

The staff is wonderful. Hotel located beautifully. Very quiet and clean. Only negative was bedding. The comforter felt cheap and terrible pillows. All else was five star.

We visited Hotel Portoghesi the fourth time. Every time in the tower. As always an excellent experience. Friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast and a unique private terrace. Need new sunchairs. :-)
We will be back.

Location can’t be beat
Location can’t be beat. Walking distance to everything. Rooms are small, but it’s Rome and should be expected. It’s very clean and staff are very helpful. Beds and pillows are on the firmer side for my preference. Rooftop terrace for breakfast is nice.

Nice room with amazing breakfast!
We stayed at Hotel Portoghesi this June for 3 nights. They were very helpful and friendly. We liked the location in Rome. Lots of things within walking distance (the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, 30 min walk to Colosseum), but far enough to avoid the crowds. The room was comfortable and the AC worked great. We used the airport car service to be picked up from our arrival. It was very easy and we didn't have to worry about how to get to the hotel. We were very fast out of our delayed flight and were worried when the driver wasn't there. I called the hotel and they called the driver for us, which was so helpful. We just beat him to the arrivals gate since we got out so fast. Otherwise the service was very nice.
Our favorite thing was the breakfast! Typical European offerings (bread, cheese, meat, pastries, cereal/granola, hard boiled egg, and juices), but the croissants were amazing and rivaled those of Paris. Also the hostess took coffee orders and made the best cappuccinos! There is the rooftop seating (as you see in the pictures) and also an indoor area where the food is kept. Would return!

All around a great location to stay in the heart of the old city
When we arrived 1 hour before check in, we were told we could go directly to our room. That was an added bonus. The rooms were very clean and nicely airconditioned! The breakfast was fantastic. The croissants are a must to try!
