My go-to robot to teach coding at grades 2-7
These are robust robots and my 2nd and 4th grade students learned how to use them quickly, having already had some coding experience. Their IDEs allow you to code with grades K-2, 4-6, and 7+ depending on whether you are doing basic block programming, getting more sophisticated with a Scratch-like coding environment, or writing Python with the older students. There are excellent tutorials and lesson plans as well. When there were some robotic performance glitches, I received prompt and personalized help to fix the problems we were having. I was very satisfied with the customer service.

The best bot for your classroom!

The edison robot is a great product
The edison robot is a great product. You can connect it with lego. It has al kind of sensors in it the new remote control it makes it perfect. Also the support from edison is great. If you have a quest or a program Idea. Just ask them. They are always willing to help and think with you to come to a solution. Love it

So far, everything about these robots has been pretty awesome!
My 10 year old is now convinced that writing robot code is better than video games. Because, he says, it's like a puzzle game (and probably because we let him use the computer for much longer when he's doing robotics). A small parenting win, and a great robot.
Mechatronic Engineer dad also thinks these are well made, easily accessible, and most of all fun! Compatibility with Lego makes these doubly awesome.

One of the few hands-on coding products out there
EDIT: I misundestood the review process.
In general, this is a unique product that our students absolutely love! It's one of the few ways we are able to create reusable, hands-on coding experiences. We are using these robots at about a dozen sites for afterschool programs and it gives us a great way to challenge the kids.
My one suggestion is to improve the troubleshooting process. We've had to spend a significant amount of time troubleshooting when something breaks.

Great option for elementary students
I have been teaching STEM and Robotics for the past 5 years, and have struggled to find a robot that would be good for my students in early elementary. The Edison V3 is a great option, my students in grades 1-4 love them, and I even catch my middle school students trying to use them. They are fun and easy to use

Absolute perfection - where has this been my whole life!?
I could not speak more highly of the Edison V3 robots and the whole Edison support team. These robots are incredibly affordable and easy to use! The materials available online make it easy for anyone to teach or learn to use the robots and learn coding, even without a tech background. Being able to code in block, Scratch, or Python AND using online platforms makes this easy to do across different computer types and accessible to anyone! The variety of projects, compatibility with Legos, and quick responses of the support team for any issues puts these over the top! Edison is the best! I will be using these for years to come! Thank you to the Edison team for making an accessible, easy-to-use & easy-to-teach product, that actually works and has a support team eager to help!

Does not work, dead on arrival - EDIT: Replaced
I dont know what is wrong with these Edison Robots V3.0 they simply do not turn on, not recognised by the computer, just dead on arrival, no charge, no movement no LEDs nothing. Bought new from Kitronik, Sending it back.
EDIT: The unit was defective, now its replaced by Kitronik. It seems to be working now.

For reference the batteries are normally supplied with about 30% charge. However in this instance the battery could be very low and needs to be connected to USB for a short while to regain enough charge to turn on.

The robot consistently fails to follow…
The robot consistently fails to follow the line and doesn't turn at a precise 90 degrees; instead, it turns randomly, without consistency. I've tried countless methods—about 1000 different attempts—across all eight of my robots, yet nothing has worked effectively. I'm now seeking a new solution.

If there are problems line following it is likely to be related to the line printing. There needs to be adequate contrast between the black line and white surrounding it. It is also important that if the line is printed, that the finish is matte, and not gloss. Gloss print acts like a mirror and reflects light and doesn't appear as black to the sensor. These printing instructions are included with the educational resources and EdMat.
Edison will not turn at a precise 90 degrees if the definition of 'precise' is 90 degrees +/-0.0 degrees. Edison is capable of turning 90 degrees within about +/-2.5 degrees. There are a few variables that affect this and are all fantastic teachable moments.
Unlike characters in a video game, robots encounter real-world forces such as gravity, friction and inertia. Gravity pulls down on the robot giving the tyres traction, but also providing friction on the skid. When turning, the robot also has to change inertia from being stationary to moving and then from moving back to being stationary again.
A few quick experiments will show the effects that different surfaces have on the Edison's ability to turn accurately. Carpet tends to have high friction on the skid but low friction with the tyres. This results in poor turning accuracy. A smooth desk top allows the skid to slide (low friction), but also allows the rubber tyres to make good contact (high friction). Under this scenario, the turning accuracy will be higher.
Some more experiments with the speed setting will show the effects of inertia. Using a high speed to turn causes the tyres to skid and slip as the Edison's enertia wants to stay constant. This results in poor turning accuracy. Using a low speed provides enough force to move the robot, but not so much that the Edison's enertia causes the tyres to skid. This provides better accuracy.
