Trying to apply for a student parking…

Trying to apply for a student parking permit. What a dysfunctional disaster their website is...
Almost impossible to apply for...maybe I can call them??? No idea how I will do this. How can such a great city have such a useless council? No wonder their rating is so low. A business like this would close

When I visited for the first time and…

When I visited for the first time and trying to follow my sat navigation through the absolute chaotic traffic and confusing road layout I unknowingly had entered a camered bus lane on Canal Lane. Being at a complete loss and totally confused and pulled up and asked a police officer for help. They where very pleasant and admitted that they lived there and found the road system confusing to them also. When I returned home a week later I got a fine through the post for something I hadnt realised l'd done. If this is how Nottingham Council intends to attract shoppers to the area then good luck because I will certainly NOT be visiting again. If I could have given no stars then I would.

Penalty notice - Canal street bus lane

Received a Penalty notice from Nottingham City council for travelling in a bus lane, which I was! It was my first visit to Nottingham, so did not know the area and was following Sat Nav, but obviously not just blindly following it, but trying to navigate my way through the traffic. Before I even knew it I'd ended up in a bus lane, apparently their is signage. This bus lane is in Canal Street. I googled this and allegedly in excess of 33000 fines were issued for this road alone in 1 year so guess I am not alone in my non sight of the signs!! Haven't ever had a penalty notice previously, and would consider myself a diligent and careful driver, and am well used to driving in cities and elsewhere. No point in appealing as I'm sure they have done what is legally necessary, but I'm sure this will continue to catch out many more motorists. Anyway my advice from this is to avoid driving anywhere near a City Centre, but particularly Nottingham. A good way to raise a million or two for the council though I'd say!

Visited for a concert

Visited for a concert, first time in a while. First niggle was finding car park as all signs seem to be together pointing all over, then car park was card payments only. Was written on ticket machine so was too late to choose elsewhere.
Nice selection of shops and eateries but spent first hour trying to get money into the only account between us with a debit card.
Thought end of but week later have recieved notice for driving in bus lane. At no point was this obviously marked, it's not even clear on photo.
Totally marred a reasonable evening out and hope you enjoy the £35 as will be taking future trips elsewhere.

Unfriendly city Visited the city fodays shopping…

Visited the city for a days shopping with friends and spent quite a lot in the town. It is far from driver friendly and as a disabled person I needed to park close to the centre.. I ended up lost and wondered into a bus lane even though I was following the parking signs…. Not being local to the city I was following a satnav and signs on the road surface…. I hope they enjoy the £35 fine as I won’t be visiting the city again…. Thought business needed us to visit them but Nottingham must be different to the rest of the country

We’ll done to Staff at Notts County Council

When you are 72 and struggling within your capacity to make ends meet, it’s a low blow to get a parking fine that you feel is unfair. However, knowing it was important to keep in touch with the Appeal I’d made to Newark and Sherwood Council, I dared to phone near 5pm the evening before Good Friday Holiday!
The lady I spoke to listened patiently to my anxiety about my parking fine. Not only that, I felt listened to, and that doesn’t happen to us old codgers these days. I didn’t ask her name but I want to thank you Notts County Council for working up until the last minute, and hearing me. That doesn’t happen much these days. Believe me … Good Customer Relations with customers is rare. So a genuine thank you from me.

after 3 years trying to get councilor…

after 3 years trying to get councilor Jay Hayes to put parking restrictions in place but hes useless does not even reply to messages or calls.i decided to go to the top councillor David Mellen and he is no better than Hayes,no replies this is disgusting why are these councillors employed they are a waste of public money its no wonder people changed to voting conservative.if i dont get any satisfaction soon i will have to name and shame these people on the tv central news and bbc news.i have been told by the police that the council can put parking restrictions in place opposite my drive entrance between 10am and 2pm on sundays so why is the council doing nothing?i was even told by a friend who works for ncc that this can be done but its all bout money(they have plenty of it now)why are we paying council tax for services when we dont get them.i am now looking for somewhere else to live im 63 and have health issues and if i stay here my condition will get worse.

Unfair Fines

I have received a fine for driving in a bus lane around midday. This was previously a restriction only during peak times - which I always followed - but must recently have changed. For these very minor, harmless, genuine mistakes made by law abiding drivers, wouldn't it fairer to send a warning first time? I've paid it but don't agree this is a fair way to treat citizens.

Terrible

Terrible. 5 months to deliver a bin. Increased council tax because of their own incompetence with robin hood energy. They're running a racket with selective licensing and loads of pot holes down our street. Speed and lane cameras in sneaky places and fining the car owner not the driver. A bunch of empowered criminals.

Asked for help 15 emails later to the path manager still no response! Give the job to someone that cares and wants to help the people. Instead of your best mate. Nottingham city council is Disgraceful !

Useless

Useless. I moved within Nottingham which resulted in new council tax account. Soon after that I received adjustment on the old account which (I think) confused their online system resulting in me not able to login to old account nor register a new one. Contacted customer service. Nothing. Month later email 'Can you confirm if you have been able to register for a new account as of yet?'. No, I haven't. Another month later: try to contact different department. Another two weeks gone now and still nothing... Useless. I tried to call - only the machine - no possibility to talk to a human. They do not recommend coming to the office because of covid... Useless.

Housing Aid

The actions and inaction of Nottingham City Housing Aid traumatise children multiple times on a daily basis.
Those that care move on to Framework. Those that remain are unusually uncaring people and/or utterly incompetent.

Cheap and rip off

£11 for a COPY of a birth certificate that should be free to begin with. Then, they lost my first copy because I hadn't paid the ridiculous £6.50 for a tracked delivery, so I had to order again. The birth certificate arrived in the form of a flimsy A4 sheet - the same thickness as a regular A4 printer paper - and it was folded in two, unprotected in a hand written envelope that didn't even have a hard back. Appolling.
