Having been discharged from hospital after 25yrs for my regular 4 monthly wax removal due to COVID and NHS cutbacks, I am pleased to say that I have found the Nottingham hearing practice in Beeston. I cannot recommend them enough, always so helpful and considerate, nice long appointment times and they are open Saturdays. Great service - Thank you.

My son, 10, has had impacted wax for over a year. Having tried olive oil as advised by healthcare professionals there was no movement and it started to hurt so intervention was needed. From the first phone call and speaking to Steven on the phone the service was excellent. Polite, friendly and knowledgeable. we were booked in for a wax removal with experienced paediatric audiologist, Jo.

Jo put my son at ease and listened every time he asked her to stop while he got used to the strange sensations and noises. She was incredibly patient and understanding. Trying all techniques to see which he was most comfortable with to extract the wax.

Jo got the wax out relatively swiftly and he was amazed at how well he could hear the world. I hope we never have to visit again, but should we need audiology services again I know we’d go back. I have already recommended my family come here if needed for hearing aids etc.

After suffering with blocked ears I saw Steven for some (much overdue!) intervention - I had an exceptionally good service from start to finish! Issues with my ears had really been affecting me in social situations and causing me intermittent headaches: I'm so grateful for Steven's help to restore my hearing to prime condition, as well as restoring my confidence. Thanks for explaining everything so thoroughly and for your patience with me (!), it's very much appreciated. Will definitely be coming back regularly for check ups with the team.

I was seen by Steve two weeks ago who could not have treated me better! Very professional but relaxed. I’ve had not so good experiences in the past so was a little nervous but Steve put me well at ease and suctioned both ears successfully and it has made a great difference so, a massive thank you and I should visit once a year for a check up.

From start to finish, my experience of The Nottingham Hearing Practice has been 'outstanding plus'.
The telephone booking was simplicity itself with useful information forthcoming about the wax removal procedure and full details of the cost etc.
I have visited the practice this morning and can only say that the experience was fantastic and I've walked away with my hearing restored to normality (and beyond!) and I'm a very happy chappie.
Alan was so helpful and the experience was totally pain-free and I took up the opportunity to have a look at the view inside. What an illuminating experience and great to be able to specifically see the 'problem' I was experiencing with the build up of wax.

I had been waking up for around a week unable to hear in 1 ear, thanks to Steve my hearing is back! A quick and efficient service from start to finish, thank you so much Steve! Would definitely recommend.

I visited and was a little nervous about the experience because I had worried I'd suddenly gone deaf but was put at ease and am amazed and so pleased after having the wax removal service; I can't believe how much was in there!
After having some suction and irrigation it now feels like I can hear in surround sound, fully recommend it to others and the really lovely staff.

Sounds like an attention grabbing title but here’s why. Many months ago mum’s hearing declined and visits to doctors and consultants ended in a diagnosis that nothing could be done to improve her hearing. One even said there is no point in paying for high quality hearing aids as they won’t make a difference. Mum started to give up on the things she loves; seeing friends, going out for lunch, zooming and was even about to give up singing in her choir. The team at The Nottingham Hearing Practice Beeston were so helpful, understanding and knowledgeable; she had a hearing test and then a trial of
Oticon hearing aids, which have enabled her to do the things she loves again with renewed confidence that she can hear what is happening. She’s now has her own Oticon hearing aids, with an app that tells her about performance levels and a charging unit - so no changing batteries needed. She’s enjoying life again, chatting, singing and zooming. Thank you so much The Nottingham Hearing Practice.

I firstly had an appointment with Jo for ear wax removal, which was quick and painless. I have 2 NHS hearing aids and after speaking to Jo, wondered if I should explore private hearing aids. I have complications due to my hearing loss being different in both ears. I arranged a second appointment with Jo for a hearing test after which she confirmed that it was going to be a bit of a challenge but there were several options we could pursue. I left that day with a pair of top of the range hearing aids on trial for 2 weeks. I had trouble fitting them but gave them a good go for the couple of weeks. Unfortunately I didn’t find them as good as my NHS hearing aids in some ways.
I explained my difficulties when I returned to see Jo and very patiently she fitted me out with a different make, again top of the range. I found them completely different to the first pair, managed to get them in easily and came home with them on trial for another 3 weeks. Although I liked them, unfortunately again they did not give me significantly better hearing than my NHS ones.
That is, apart from music streamed directly into my hearing aids from my phone which was great.
I returned to see Jo today and after a discussion I am disappointed that due to my particular situation it may mean that I cannot get enough benefit from private hearing aids to justify the cost. However, I would say that if I was in a good financial position, I would consider it worth the cost just for the ongoing service that would be included in the cost.
I have been extremely pleased with the service and the care that I have received, completely without any sales pressure. I have decided to see if my NHS hearing aids can be adjusted in order to get the best possible hearing. I will continue to return to Jo for wax removal when necessary so will keep up to date with any possible solutions to my hearing loss. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Following a recommendation by my son, who had used the company's services and was pleased with the outcome, I decided, as an 80-year-old man with signs of less sharp hearing than in earlier years, to get tested. I was not surprised to learn that there had been slight-to-moderate loss at middle and higher frequencies. The company lent me a basic pair of aids to try out over a couple of weeks. Apparently I was at the ideal stage to benefit, rather than leaving it till my loss was more serious, when my brain would have more difficulty adjusting.
I could feel the benefits - my wife's speech sounded clearer and we could watch TV comfortably together, especially football, where I had needed more volume than she was comfortable with. After this trial, I was re-tested and chose a newer but still basic model of aid, which I was then able to try for another couple of weeks before committing to buying anything. This pair was also good, and I was especially impressed with the sound quality of music on Spotify that I was able to stream directly to the aids from my iPhone - as good as listening with my Apple AirPods! I was also able to listen to the radio in the same way.
The manufacturers of the aids also provide an app for the phone which enables adjustments to fit specific situations such as being in a noisy room and wanting to reduce extraneous noise so you can focus better on your companion's speech. The technology available with modern aids has pleasantly surprised me and given me an understanding of why hearing aids are more expensive than glasses!
Throughout this process, after which I've bought the aids and am very happy with them, my consultant has been friendly, efficient and helpful in making everything clear and easy to understand. It's reassuring that the purchase price covers not only the aids, with a 5 year guarantee, but also regular personal service and help as required.
Clearly there are other options, including the free NHS service and also larger private services, possibly at slightly lower prices, but I'm happy with the choice I've made, and I find the whole package a reassuring way to deal with a common experience which is normal in older age but which is often accepted without taking advantage of the very effective remedial steps that are now available.
My consultant fully agreed that, as a retired person, the basic aids were able to meet all my needs and did not press me in any way to choose a more expensive pair that would only be worthwhile for anyone whose needs were greater, either because they had more severe loss or because their needs were more variable and more demanding. A very fair and open process, with no hard selling at all, just the opposite! I would confidently recommend the service to a friend, as my son did to me.

Thanks to Jo I was able to have my wax removed with comfort and ease. I found Jo to be professional and friendly and straight away knew that I was in experienced and capable hands. I cannot recommend her highly enough!

I had an appointment with Alan in late January. I followed the advice prior to attending. When I got there, Alan was very friendly and welcoming. He was absolutely explicit in exactly what the plan was and talked me through the equipment he was using and why, which massively helped put any concerns to rest.

The whole process was quick, without ever feeling rushed. My ears were cleared and I was able to get back to normality at work and home.

I can't recommend this place enough. They're experts. They're a cut above anywhere else I've been (popular high street shops have offered a similar service but I've never felt confident in them). It was also extremely Covid-safe, if that's a concern. I waited outside until my appointment so there was only me and Alan in the premises during my appointment.

I'd definitely use them again.

I have been to the Nottingham Hearing Practice in Beeston a number of times now and I cannot thank the lovely Jo enough for the time, care and patience she had shown to me. She is always very helpful and is really good at explaining things. It was good to be able to try various hearing aids on a trial basis.

The whole process from initial contact with Steve, making an appointment, receiving information about the practice and the care given has been highly professional and efficient throughout.

I was so impressed by the professionalism, expertise and excellent service at the Nottingham Hearing Practice. My hearing was transformed following my visit to Jo. I cannot recommend this amazing team highly enough!

I went yesterday after having problems with ear wax in my left ear for several weeks. Alan examined my ear and even showed me images on screen. He that the wax was touching my ear drum and could not be removed by suction so it was removed in a different way with no paid at all. Very professional and made me feel totally at ease. I would highly recomend, i can now hear again.
