Poor experience. I am a regular customer, but felt let down this time. Went in for a replacement stop/start battery, got told at reception how these were specialised batteries, more expensive etc. Despite all this, they fitted the wrong battery.

The car started, obviously. So how many people would check the garage had fitted the correct battery once they got home?

The battery fitted had a very similar name to the one invoiced, looked identical apart from the label, but a bit of Googling showed that it was the regular (non stop/start) version. I phoned and told the manager, who just told me to bring it back. I got the sense he didn't believe me - or if he did he wasn't apologising.

When I went back the technician must have known as he ran out to get me and told me how he had got the correct battery, but then got distracted and fitted the wrong one, terrible mix-up. No idea where the wrong one came from, how he confused it with the right one, but any procedures to prevent this and any checks to spot it later either were not followed or didn't work.

As if to underline this, they had also left a workshop tool under the bonnet of my car.

I've always had excellent service before, but this felt very different.

Edit: after my original review was published, the Centre Manager (who wasn't involved on the day) then contacted me to apologise, and to explain that the mix-up was not in any way a deliberate dodge, so I have edited my review to remove any suggestion that it was. I have always had good honest service previously, and (notably) a refreshing absence of the upselling so typical of garages in general.

Friendly, helpful and efficient! After I hit a pot hole, my tyre went completely flat. I went into Protyre to enquire about it and they replaced my flat there and then - they even repaired my wheel for me since there was some damage. They were super helpful and came across as honest and knowledgeable. Whilst the work was carried out we were treated to free coffee and relaxed in the waiting area. Honestly, what more could you want? Job done... Fast. Easy. Friendly. Top marks!

Quick service, no problems. Dropped a loose wheel down for a new tyre, technician put the wheel back on my car and the spare back.

The staff were great, explained things clearly, very helpful. The tyres I bought were very good value, quick appointment time and the coffee was good too! Good experience.

Excellent and Professional Service
Good, honest and accurate assessment which cost me more than anticipated! Not a negative but positive outcome as I needed more tyres (Four instead of two) and a four wheel alignment. The Assistant Mgr (Jake) kept my wait to a minimum when costing the additional tyres, whilst the fitter carried out a thorough, professional and careful fit and balance. The star of the show for me is Simon the four wheel alignment specialist. Now this man knows his ‘stuff’ and doesn’t mind imparting his vast knowledge with you! He is extremely efficient, professional and the expert that reassures you that this essential process is in very safe hands. Simon needs to be on a pedestal, sharing his ‘best practice’ throughout the group so that we can all experience his mastery of his ‘art’. Yes, it has cost me a lot, however, what price can you put on preventative maintenance and ultimately yours and others safety. I will most definitely revisit and recommend to all…A ‘Well done’ to a great team effort. Steve Prescott

He was meticulous and discovered the reason that I had been losing air sporadically (a slow puncture) This had been misdiagnosed by two well known tyre companies who had failed to identify the cause of the problem…a cracked rim! A simple weld cured the problem and potentially a catastrophe!! Well done once again to the fitter.

I felt very pressured to have very expensive work done there and then, mainly, I believe, because they had no work booked that afternoon. It was too dangerous to drive my car apparently, even though my brake sensors had not yet alerted me to an imminent need to change. I also think I was overcharged compared to the quote for the same work 4 months earlier at Halesowen branch by over £100.
Following a conversation with protyre this matter has now been resolved.

I have used Protyre Stourbridge many times in the past for different things as their customer service and attention to detail is excellent. As before I was not disappointed on my last visit too. Thank you Protyre Stourbridge.
