I'm not a massive chocolate lover
I'm not a massive chocolate lover , just fancied some quality street to remind me of when I was young, they didn't taste like chocolate at all , boring , bland taste , clearly the manufacturer has used cheaper , inferior materials , and still charges a substantial price , shame in you for poisoning and ripping off the public
The disgusting taste of corporate greed.
One star is being generous. This deserves zero.
Quality Street used to mean something special. Delicious chocolate. Distinct flavours. A sense of occasion. This Christmas, I opened the box and was genuinely shocked at how far this brand has fallen.
The purple one, once the crown jewel bears no resemblance to the original. Smaller, no longer the distinct shape, no hint of a roasted hazelnut in the middle and doesn’t even taste like chocolate. Same for the chunky chocolate green triangle. Bland. Doesn’t matter which one you try they are all the same - bland. Nothing distinctive. Nothing satisfying. Just a waxy, flavourless imitation.
Quality Street is no longer about quality confectionery. It tastes of corporate greed gone too far. A cheap plastic tub full of disappointment.
After trying a few of my old favourites, I gave up and threw the rest in the bin. I wasn’t prepared to force myself to eat a lab-made, bland, waxy concoction pretending to be chocolate.
There are far better options out there. Celebrations. Heroes. They still deliver enjoyment. This does not.
Quality Street has been utterly destroyed by corporate greed. It deserves to disappear from the shelves. I wish I had kept my receipt so I could demand my money back. I will never buy it again, and I hope this review stops others wasting their money on a product trading on a name it no longer deserves.
Simply Dreadful
Oh my goodness !!, I have just opened a tub of “today’s version” of Quality Street and am afraid to say that I will be choosing other products going forwards.
Firstly the new style wrappings on the chocolates instantly and very loudly shout “CHEAPENED” !!!! They look simply awful and just like the sweets kids would choose from the old fashioned “penny trays”.
They are certainly non conducive with the prestigious brand they once were, which should be a real concern to the manufacturers if they wish to maintain or grow their product brand positioning.
But then it got even worse !!
The overall eating experience has most certainly deteriorated dreadfully with the chocolate shell delivering a distinct fatty “palate cling”…… like a cheap “bakers coating” with absolutely no chocolate notes at all…… Just an intense overpowering sickly sweetness.
I really do think that the company needs, and with great urgency, to review any changes that have been made to this key brand, even if the retail price has to be augmented.
I feel sure I speak on behalf of other consumers, I would much prefer to pay extra to enjoy the former Quality Street that we all grew up with and loved.
Can I give zero stars
Can I give zero stars? What on earth happened to these beloved sweets?
Just rubbish - nobody wants to eat them now in our house - oh, and we didn't get any strawberries in the tub so I didn't eat any either.
A Christmas tradition is about to be erased in our house I think.
Nothing quality about these sweets now…
Nothing quality about these sweets now they taste horrible, look horrible and the portions are mean . The Scrooge of confectionery the management needs visiting by 3 ghosts.
Totally agree with all negative comments…
Totally agree with all the negative reviews already written, we won’t be buying this brand again and the same has to be said about all the other chocolate tubs from the other brands, all taste disgusting and not how they used to. Bring back the old recipe and most of us would be happy to pay the premium prices.
So bad
So bad, tasteless, small and don,t get me stqrted on the wrapping. They were a gift , if i had bought them, i would have wated my money back. A friend bought a tin of roses, they are lush, Roses rule
Quality "Don't Make Me Laugh" Street
I have never ever written a review of Quality Street and I have been eating them all my life since I was a child but I bought two boxes at xmas and all I can say is I am totally shocked by the inadequacy of this years chocolates because believe me there is no quality in them at all.
For Nestle to be so disrespectful to its millions of customers who most have been eating their chocolates since they were kids is a disgrace infact to charge the prices you are charging is downright deceptive as you are taking your buyers for idiots.
Firstly the box needs to go bring back the tin boxes asap secondly bring back the foil wrapping asap as the wrapping is awful and thirdly my three favourite chocolates the Toffee Finger Toffee Button and the Purple Hazelnut Sweet are a disgrace so please add a little more ingredients for your loyal customers and enlarge the size to sizes of old to how they were years ago which was a genuine gram weight not a false one designed to fool your customers.
The Toffee Finger has got smaller and smaller and smaller over the years this is a chocolate that I used to love it was always the first one I picked I did again this year but it was tasteless totally bland no taste at all and I was so disappointed(do you want your loyal customers to be disappointed)because if the answer is yes you've got your wish.
The Toffee Button has shrunk in size and is totally tasteless there's nothing at all to recommend it and is probably the biggest shock to me as its so bad just lacking in everything size quality everything and if that's the best you've got then your in trouble as people aren't stupid we know what your doing and its not acceptable to treat your customers like this.
Finally the Purple Hazelnut Sweet has shrunk to nothing and is totally bland there's a theme here all the chocolates are tiny tasteless and bland and its obvious plain obvious that Nestle are doing this on purpose but still charging the same price which is despicable and I for one have had enough and won't be giving you my hard earned money anymore.
My family have been buying and eating Quality Street chocolates every year since I was a kid spending a lot of money but no more its stops now because if you are going to give us bland chocolates and still expect to keep your clientele you are sadly deluded so you have a choice you keep on producing disgusting chocolates and lose the bulk of your customer base or start treating us with respect and stop giving us bland disgusting chocolates that don't resemble the Quality Street name as it used to be the choice is yours.
Ruined
Is it actually possible that you could ruin this old school favourite any more. Shocking profiteering by getting rid of the foil wrappers. Don’t even suggest it is to do with the environment it is pure greed. On top of this they have got rid of several chocolates and pretty much made them all round. Even the big purple. Roses for me in future.
Quality Street but no 'Quality ' in them
We refused to buy Quality Street this year along with Celebrations, Heroes and Roses due to the ridiculous price of £7 and where supermarkets had apparently slashed the price to £4.95!!!!! But bought 2 tubs in Asda as they were reduced to £2.21. For what??!!! About 30 sweets!!!!!! For a start, we were disappointed opening the tub to find dull, unexciting recyclable wrappers!!!! I'm all for recycling but the magic of Christmas was in a box full of shiny sparkly wrappers and there were a lot more sweets back when I was a child!!!! The tub was full of toffees and only a handful of the purple ones, strawberry cremes, orange cremes etc.... what a disappointment!!!! They don't look the same anymore. They dont taste the same anymore. And there's hardly any sweets in the tiny tub anymore!!!! And to top it off, the dull paper wrappers put you right off. Nothing is appealing anymore with Quality Street. We only bought two tubs because they had reduced them in price in Asda down to £2.21. I certainly wouldn't pay £7 or £4.95 for them. What a rip-off!!!! Never again will I buy Quality Street. The 'Quality ' has gone from them!!!! Disappointed 😞
Not Best pleased Bought my son a tub of…
Not Best pleased Bought my son a tub of Quality street for Christmas got to the caramel penny one's and it had a chunk of metal in this which 1 these ended up cracking his tooth . I have filed a complaint as if this was a younger child it could have possibly choked them . Absolutely shocking to have to have experienced this . I have got pictures and video as evidence.
Chocolate is a disgrace
Was absolutely gobsmacked by how bad these chocolates are now! it was the first time I had tried some in years and could not believe how awful they are! They taste completely different to how they used to taste. They are smaller. They are no longer chocolatey with the gooey centre. The purple ones and orange ones are dreadful. We have been conned! I will never be buying these again! Funnily enough, this was the topic of discussion with my entire family on Boxing Day and every single person agreed they would not be buying these ever again.
Omg these chocolates are awful these…
Omg these chocolates are awful these days, as others say, bland taste, sad the purple one isn’t a purple one as we all loved! Boring wrappers. Very poor quality. Will not be getting again as hero’s or roses are much better.
This product is awful & dishonest
This product is awful, & Poisoning people with palm oil & wax, If I wanted to munch on palm oil & wax I would have bought that instead.
After eating 5 chocolates I was coughing & wheezing & gasping for air, These chocolates are so misleading they need banning permanently as they have made me very poorly.
Half the original chocolates are not even in the tub & all chocolates that remain in the tub have shrunk & taste vile, There is no quality to quality street, Do not waste your money Nestle are taking the MICKEY its like stealing peoples hard earned money charging good money for this vile muck.
Nestle you should be ashamed of yourselves & just stop making them if this is the muck you are forced to make.
Dishonesty in these tubs, Killing people to save the environment, How stupid.
Another tradition ruined
Awful
Awful ! It didn’t deserve 1star … as a youngster I used to open a tin , not a plastic box , foiled fun colourful covered chocolates which visually excited me and I’m sure thousands of others, now full and boring , the chocolates don’t taste the same , ridiculously small . What happened to the flavour and size ? The purple one was and still would be most people’s favourite, it’s been customised into a tiny thing with no nut , the shape always made it stood out ! Honestly I only tried two out of my partners box to be extremely sad and disappointed. I will never purchase quality street . Whoever has made these changes should be sacked
Quallity street "sweets" should Not be…
Quallity street "sweets" should Not be produced any more with the test "offered".I understand those kind of swerts are nade to reach the most poor of the society, those who never in their lives tried sweets, but do is a
good for the producers to know once tested sweet is spitted out with a reiief. Please, do NOT offer those things any more, as it is a shame on you and an abuse to the people, who ever tested them.
Or maybe you never ever tried a reaĺly chocolate sweet, testy, sweety
velvet , melted in the mouth and far from the bown stones you dare to name Quallity street.
Let down
Disgraceful .
Such a shame , another memory gone .
Horrible stuff
I tried one and then another in hope…
I tried one and then another in hope and it was no better and I have had a foul taste in my mouth since. I was so disappointed. Even my sweet loving grandchildren dismissed them. The rest are going in the bin. I will never buy them again.
From Quality to Cheap Street. Can't believe how disgusting Quality…
Can't believe how disgusting Quality Street is now. Buy them every year, and each year they deteriorate. This year they are so bad, that no one is eating them. The standard of the chocolate is so poor and insipid plus it doesn't melt in your mouth like smooth chocolate. Sadly it's the end of an era because we won't be buying them again. Should be renamed Cheap Street!
