Total disappointment - do not waste your money
I was delighted to play the game and fill a tub with only my favourite Quality Street chocolates - the purple, the green triangle etc avoiding the strawberry and orange nonsense that always gets left in our house.
Today, for the first time ever, I didn't have a chocolate for breakfast and walked past the open, neglected tub. It will remain neglected as it barely resembles the wicked delights of the past. I understand that the price of the raw ingredients have increased but these are barely chocolate.
They don't taste good, their texture is wrong - they are just not nice. The only good thing about the experience was trying to fit as many chocolates in the tin as possible and the personalised ribbon. The rest is a total disappointment - never again shall I waste money on these nor shall I waste time eating them
LOW QUALITY STREET
Big let down.low quality street should be called. All wrappers are dull..Not like nostalgic 1980s quality street.very low volume of chocolates.get a grip put it right
I would give 0 if I could
I would give 0 if I could
We treated ourselves in a department store to a tin of our long time favourites...think the purple one, the green triangle, the toffee stick to name a few. All of them taste wrong! Nothing like we remembered. Don't get me started on the "mystery" one. And the wrappers...I could live with that if the sweets were acceptable. SO disappointed.
Totally disappointed with the product
Totally disappointed with the product, have always had these sweets at Christmas but never again. Taste not up to normal, wrapping dull and not pleasing to the eye. Sorry you have truly let your customers down.
Vomit tasting rip off.
Vomit tasting rip off. Even the dog wouldn't eat em and my dog eats horse crap.
Not the same as old ones
Not the same as old ones - rubbish flavours, rubbish wrappers bring the old trusted quality street back
Quality Street – From Childhood Magic to Waxy Disappointment
There was a time when opening a tin of Quality Street felt like stepping into a kaleidoscope of flavour. Each sweet was distinct, indulgent, and worth fighting over at Christmas. The hazelnut in caramel had bite, the toffee penny pulled at your teeth in the best way, and the chocolate actually tasted of chocolate.
Now? Nostalgia collides with reality. The recipes have been stripped back, the richness diluted, and what remains is a waxy, bland imitation of what once was. The chocolate coating feels more like a greasy film than a treat, and the fillings blur into one forgettable sweetness. Where there used to be variety and craft, there’s now uniformity and cost-cutting.
And to add insult to injury, the chocolates themselves have shrunk while the price has crept ever upward. What was once a generous tin of festive indulgence now feels like a miserly offering dressed up in dull recyclable paper wrappers. Gone are the jewel-bright foils that lit up the tin like treasure; now the wrappers look as tired as the chocolate tastes.
Even the iconic tin has been replaced by a flimsy recyclable tub — a downgrade that strips away the sense of permanence and tradition. The tub feels disposable, just like the sweets inside.
Quality Street has become a brand trading on memory rather than taste. The packaging still sparks recognition, but the contents no longer deliver joy—only disappointment. For those of us who grew up with the original recipes, the decline is stark. Nostalgia can’t mask the truth: the magic has been replaced by mediocrity, and we’re paying more for less, wrapped in paper and boxed in plastic that only remind us of what’s been lost.
What Has Happened To England
Grotesque. Awful. Disgusting.
It tastes like production has been outsourced to Latvia and the only remaining ingredient is horse urine. Not even packaged properly, a plastic tin. Plastic. We hid it inside the Roses tin so the neighbours, relatives, children, and pets wouldn’t know what we’d brought into the house. The Roses tin, for context, contained dog biscuits.
I accidentally ate one of the dog biscuits. It was superior.
Half the box was “mystery chocolates,” which is corporate shorthand for we’ve given up. One fell into the fireplace and the entire house smelled wrong for the rest of the evening. Not chocolate-wrong. Chemical-wrong. Like a small tyre fire with ambitions.
This isn’t chocolate. It’s a beige suggestion of chocolate. The toffee penny wasn’t even a real penny. My mother ate several with a look of quiet resignation, and immediately afterwards her knee started hurting. Coincidence? Obviously not.
This country is in terminal decline.
When I was young, you could walk to the sweet shop with an E on the end. Sweetie shoppie. My father would give me a ha’penny and I’d buy twenty-five tins of Quality Street. Real tins. Made of tin. Except the purple one, which was wrapped in lead, as God intended.
The tins were so heavy our arms were two inches shorter by Christmas afternoon. I had to push mine uphill in a wheelbarrow like the Hovis advert. And then we’d dance around the fire and eat real chocolates. Actual food. Not whatever this is.
Avoid at all costs.

What’s happening to our chocolates.
What is the point of these anymore
What is the point of these anymore? They used to come in pretty wrappers. Now they are bland and uninteresting. And the taste is also bland and uninteresting. They used to be so good but not anymore 😥

Repulsive..
Repulsive..
If the date had been longer I would have kept them for the Halloweeners. Made me feel sick .never buy again.
Recylable paper wrappers, the green triangle is silver foil.!!! Had to gurgle with TCP to get rid of taste.
Grotesque
The only plus is that I bought them on promotion at £4 a 'tin' (I've seen them elsewhere at £8 and more) so it has cost less than it might have done to find out how badly the quality has deteriorated.
The worst thing is that I bought half a dozen 'tins' and gave five of them to relatives and neighbours to distribute among their children. Having opened the 'tin' I kept for myself yesterday I feel almost ashamed at having foisted this garbage on people I love.
So three weeks after buying it from a major retailer* I find about one in three I've unwrapped is going white, the fondant filling in some of them has gone hard and literally all of them just taste of sugar rather than chocolate. I don't know what to do now. I'm not going to eat them; but I hate food waste so am reluctant to bin them; and I'd feel embarrassed to give them to anyone. It's grotesque and, for me, the end of a long-standing Xmas tradition.
I wonder if it's just QS. A week or so ago I met a woman at the bus stop and she had a 'tin' of another major brand (not going to name it because I never tried it myself) which she didn't like. Rather than dump them, she was going to see if a local church would accept them to give away.
My New Year's resolution will be to spend a bit more and avoid this creeping adulteration of major brands. Fresh fish, fruit and veg. Artisan bread and pastry. Belgian chocolate etc. I feel sorry for people who literally can't afford to reject adulterated/poor quality foods.
*can't find a 'best before date'. It says 'see rim of base but I can't see anything there. But the stock wasn't 'reduced for quick sale; on the contrary, it was piled up and flagged as a promotion.
Terrible hardly any chocolates
Terrible hardly any chocolates. Taste horrible. My favourite was Brazil nut one don't even recognise it now.Remember the days when they where good but not anymore. Will not buy them again as just not worth it Did complain to them but they still think they are good.Would be good if we all didn't buy them anymore.
They taste like if india immitated it…
They taste like if india immitated it and only used 1 ingrediant, shit.
The wrappers dont keep them as fresh
the tubs (used to be tins) are ALOT smaller yet cost the same if not more.
I was given these for christmas and after having a purple one (my old favourites toi which ive fought family over these) i threw the entire tub along with all of the rest in the bin, sounds ungrateful but id rather eat refrigerated wallpaper paste.
ive told family to never get me these again, much prefer the M&S Big Daddy chocolate bars after another family member getting me this.
Bad product
Changed the wrappers to some dull scratchy paper . Not good. The whole experience is gone. Need to sort your.marketing
Awful
Awful. Changed the recipe in the chocolates. Triangle now very sweet tasting an had an essence of strawberry. The others were just awful too and now dont taste like they used. Pack size is smaller and more expensive. Won't be buying ever again!
Not only have they introduced palm oil…
Not only have they introduced palm oil reduced the cocoa content they have put up the price and decreased the volume they are not the sweets i knew and loved and refuse to buy them the recipe has made these sweets horrid
I last tried Quality Street in the 90s
I last tried Quality Street in the 90s, and it’s such a shame to see what it has become. This is a clear example of how greed and profit have completely ruined what was once a highly desirable chocolate box.
Now, every chocolate tastes the same, the chocolate itself is poor quality, and the wrapping looks and feels cheap.
What was once a treat has been stripped of its charm, flavour, and quality. Truly disappointing.
