Rip-off App - Rip-off portal - AVOID
Rip-off App, which makes you bid unintentionally while surfing. Please beware of this portal, because they are buyer unfriendly, with poorest possible service / support. Their job finishes with users logging into their App and by mistake putting a finger on Bid button (hard to avoid). Afterwards, you are thrown to hungry sharks!

Unfortunately it is kind of sad it has come to an end. Scammers and more scammers appear every day, death threats received among others, reporting them doesn’t do anything and who in the end gets blocked is yourself. Used to be good, now it’s just a scammer platform that doesn’t give a damn about the legitimate customers. I’ll be writing an article to the media regarding my experience that for the past couple of months have been just unbelievably ridiculous. Be fair and get banned, be a thief and get rewarded, that’s their motto.
No logic in blocking the offers
My offer was stopped suddenly By Ricardo after one day, when I was in the middle of discussion with a potential buyer, and I was asked to make a proof of the photo lens which I was trying to sell, lens which I bought 6 years ago and which are not such a big value. Is not like selling a car or a house. I found this really stupid. If they really want a proof, they could ask in advance, not suddenly in the middle of the process.
Used to be great
Used to be great - but since a couple years has been going down the drain. Worst customer service - not really caring or reading their eMails - as long as they can keep increasing their fees and make you pay more to sell your things
Ricardo is an excellent site which I can only recommend
Have been member of Ricardo for a very long time. Have only lived good expériences. Honesty has always been and still is which ist he philosophy of Ricardo. Bravo Ricardo!!
Strange marketplace for members from…
Strange marketplace for members from Switzerland and more or less 5 other contries (Germany, France, Spain..) of the world only. Any reasons?
Ricardo.ch is always a great help with all their special ways!!
Ricardo.ch is always a big help for most online sellers. There are most of the time positive outcomes to both parties sellers and buyers. My recent experience was just a real extra ordinary which didnt work out well. But staffs of Ricardo.ch have provided a very good guidelines to sort out this negative transaction. They have been very supportive with all their best to reach out their customers in a situation like what i had. Thank you guys! Keep up your good work!!
Be careful when buying on Ricardo.ch…
Be careful when buying on Ricardo.ch While most sellers are honest and transactions go smoothly, there are unfortunately a few who sell copies which they pass of for originals. When I complained to Ricardo, they upheld the right of the seller to sell an item that I discovered was a copy When I refused to pay, I, not the seller, was penalised.
Super netter Support
Extremely unpleasant experience
This company is a scam. When you sign up, you need to submit all kinds of personal information, including copies of your ID. After I posted a six year old laptop for sale, they blocked my account accusing me of "suspicious activities" (whatever that means), and wanted to see the receipt of the computer to prove that I own it, plus one more time my ID. Extremely unpleasant experience. Stay away.
Not for people outside of Switzerland.
Not for people outside of Switzerland.
I was buying for the first time on this website, they accepeted my request to join knowing I am from the UK.
Now, nowhere is it mentioned the delivery charges refer to Switzerland only. Upon winning the auction I payed my dues, only to be contacted by the vendor with a request of 32 extra CHFs ...an increase of 30% on my purchase. I tried to cancel the purchase with Ricardo, they said that as the prices are in CHF clearly delivery refers to Switzerland only. I found that hilarious as I normally bid on Catawiki in Euros and never had a problem! So, no real customer service there, my bank has had to step in and get my money back.
Practically the only option to sell…
Practically the only option to sell something through an auction in Switzerland. 9% commission is however quite outrageous.
Ropey, Rickety Ricardo
I'm a very frequent buyer and an occasional seller on Ricardo. My recent experience has been so bad that I've lost confidence in their ability (or aspiration) to deal a fair hand to buyers and to offer the type of protection that an on-line platform must necessarily provide.
I bought 3 items from a user with the ID "ric55ardo" totalling CHF 940, 3 French Art Glass Pendants. On receipt it was obvious that they were poor quality fakes as distinct from authentic antiques. I contacted the buyer who declined a return unless I sent them back to his address as registered and "verified" on the Ricardo website. Unfortunately, Ricardo had allowed the seller to give a non-existent (i.e. false) address!
I obtained a written Expert Certification at a cost of €125 that these were worthless fakes (the work of a “well-known British forger"), made an Anzeige with the Swiss Police, gave ric55ardo 3 negative Bewertungen and informed Ricardo with copies of all the documentation. In due course, the Police confirmed that it was illegal to sell fakes in Switzerland and intervened to force the seller to refund the CHF 940. The Pendants are currently in the possession of the Police.
Today, I received notification from Ricardo "Kundendienst" (sic) that the transactions have been cancelled, that my negative feedbacks (designed to warn other Ricardo buyers/clients) had been removed together with a ticking-off that MY Ricardo Account would be blocked if I repeated such behaviour.
How disgraceful!
How gut-wrenching that Ricardo can have such little respect for the Law and for the safety of their buyers.
How evident is it that the Kundendienst of Ricardo can act competently and with professionalism?
Not enough people on the marketplace
Not enough people on the marketplace, difficult to sell. I made the mistake of starting bids for furniture at 1 chf with no reserve price (a strategy that pays off on eBay). They all went for 1 chf.
Not enough liquidity, not enough buyers, very small market.
Now i love ricardo :) very class but…
Now i love ricardo :) very class but the customer service is totally shocking. They never answer anything when i was blocked for being a good customer.
There so easy to believe the other person and never give an answer to a question.
With better customer service Ricardo could be better then Ebay. As it is now ebay are in Switzerland it could be the end for Ricardo
Why is the rating so high?
It's hard for me to understand why the rating is so high.
The platform has really bad customer support, and virtually no buyer protection (only for purchases above 500 CHF!).
For sellers they charge a whopping 9% commission!
Swiss people must be out of their minds, or they just don't know any better.
Service is too buggy
Quality of the service is pretty low. Couple of examples:
1) Could not place a bid through the app, only the site
2) Listings of highest bidders were inconsistent (at one point the site, mobile site and app gave different results upon reloading)
3) Timer in overview mixes minutes and seconds
All in all you want to trust a site you use for bidding, if its this buggy I dont trust it. Closed down my account.
A useless marketplace monopoly
Over the years they have monopolized the c2c/b2c marketplace niche in Switzerland, hence their fee is draconian (9% of the sale price) and customer service - outright horrible. Wanted to sell my old laptops and they just immediately took my postings off without any explanation claiming that I tried to sell "prohibited items". Ridiculous. A piece of advice - if you want to sell old stuff in Switzerland, avoid this Ricardo.ch hole and just go to the old-school classifieds websites or do it over social networks.
