Windows left very clean

Whilst the appointment did have to be rescheduled a few times (mainly due to weather), Matt did a good job. Windows were left very clean and the de-mineralised water didn't leave any marks on the windows. Matt was a nice guy who also gave some advise on the overall condition of the windows.
Website is good for being able to book/re-book a date time. I did have a few issues with it no allowing me to re-book, but Matt was able to sort this, after which it was simple and easy to use.
Clear and transparent pricing and booking system.

"The Negative Reviewing Culture: Reading Between the Stars.
The internet has empowered consumers like never before. Online review platforms have become a go-to source for everything from picking a restaurant to finding a plumber. But with this power comes a trend: a focus on negative reviews.

This "negative reviewing culture" has a big impact. People are more likely to leave a review after a bad experience than a good one. This can be because negative emotions are stronger motivators, or because people believe a bad review can warn others.

For businesses, this can be a double-edged sword. On the downside, a few negative reviews can seriously hurt a reputation. Potential customers might be scared away by a low star rating, without even considering the positive reviews.

However, negative reviews can also be valuable sources of feedback. If a business can address the issues raised in negative reviews, it can improve its product or service.

So, how can we navigate this culture? Here are some things to keep in mind:

We don't ignore negative reviews, we respond via email to them professionally and have always tried to resolve the issue before a review is left. Sometimes is simply because it rained, or Matt was unwell or perhaps the van broke down, we all have children that have time off school. We live in the same reality and have the same responsibilities as others, we're sorry we can't avoid everyday delays, and we always offer to attend or a customer can easily book an appointment online.

So, take negative reviews with a grain of salt, and we shouldn't be expect to provide refunds due to delays and we could simply attend the next day Consider the context and the reviewer's tone. Look for a balance of reviews. A mix of positive and negative reviews can actually be more trustworthy than all-positive ones.

Be an informed consumer. Don't rely solely on reviews to make decisions. Look for other sources of information as well.
The review culture isn't perfect, but it can be a powerful tool for both consumers and businesses. By understanding its strengths and weaknesses, we can all use it to make better choices and a safer market place."

Beware of this company - Scam

Beware of this company, in their t&cs they state no refunds, and they stick to it! The first few times we used them they were really good, i probably would have been one of the 5* reviewers.

Third time they gave us a few excuses if I remember rightly, but did turn up. This time I paid £25 in November 2023, there were 7 separate appointments arranged by me and them, the last being last Friday at 10am, and they haven't shown up. As you can appreciate ive lost patience now and just want my money back. I feel like I've been super patient and understanding, but ive now lost patience, and I've had some really lengthy and unnecessary emails in response to my complaint.

I don't doubt there will be a lengthy reply on here too, and I would just say that generally I find decent companies respond apologetically and professionally on review sites, i can see below that is not the case here.

To balance the review out I would say that they have offered to come and do the clean if I book again on the website, but I have zero confidence that they will turn up unfortunately.

My plan is to speak to my bank, their bank and trading standards as I do feel that I have been scammed and they had no intention of honouring the contract we made when i paid in advance. I dont generally leave reviews, but i really don't want anyone else to lose their hard earned money in this current economic climate, and the response to my complaint has honestly been aggressive and a bit bonkers, and if this happened to a vulnerable person i imagine they would find it really upsetting.

First time getting a window cleaner and…

First time getting a window cleaner and I was already worried about getting scammed. I have really bad social anxiety but trying to challenge it so getting a window cleaner to come to do my windows was on my list as they really needed doing. First day of the appointment running late and then couldn’t come I was fine with it just come when able to no problem I understand life gets in the way sometimes. Second day had an emergency and couldn’t come… ok fair enough .. third time .. the weather… yep the weather been mixed with rain then some days sunny. Iv emailed to get confirmation when I’m going to get my windows cleaned. Wasn’t rude once. I don’t like my kindness to be taken for a mug emailed to get a refund so I can find someone else. I have not have an email for an update or a text reply and I was meant to get my windows done 27th feb.. it’s now 15th March. Ridiculous. Disappointed is an understatement.

Nothing about my review is “FAKE” I didn’t say anything incorrect. I booked and paid via the website and you kept postponing. No need for the rudeness. I wasn’t rude once just stating facts.

Please avoid this company unless you want to get scammed.

Please avoid this company unless you want to get scammed. Paid upfront and Matt has not turned up for the appointment. He always has excuses and reading through the reviews he has done this multiple time. I have found out he has done this to hard working many people within Milton keynes. He has been caught out on Facebook from scamming elderly people! Stay away.

Scamming money and avoidance of service

Failure to attend on 8 occasions: Unprofessional and unreasonable- payment made upfront. I have contacted citizens advice now and suggest you do the same if you have issues.
Occasion 1: Friday 1st Sep Unable to attend due to Matt being at hospital
Occasion 2: Saturday 2nd Sep Advised Matt is ill and woken up with an infection which is swollen.
Occasion 3: Friday 8th Sep: Matt unable to attend due to Migraine.
Late response to chase as advised they are in the middle of moving
Occasion 4: Monday 25th Sep: No response or confirmation although advised they could attend at 2pm
Occasion 5: Monday 2nd Oct: Advised unable to attend due to rain
Occasion 6: Monday 9th Oct: Advised by Cass if it can it be moved to Tuesday due to childcare issues- I advised I have moved work schedules again and this is the 6th cancellation and if possible, can I be refunded. Advised they completely understand, and Matt will attend on Monday. On Monday I advised I was expecting them at 2pm and they have cancelled again
Advised unable to attend due to van issues and broken down. Shining Windows sent the below via whatsapp on the 9th October at 14.30: We don't offer refunds, within our terms and conditions. What you expect of a company who brakes down is unbelievable. We will reschedule the service with or without a date from yourself. Let us know when you're at home and we will attend. We are ending communications from this platform. Send one message not multiple messages, phone once not repeatedly call one after the other.
Occasion 7: Tuesday 31st October Matt came back from hospital and unable to attend as unwell. Shinning Windows advised as per my first letter to them: We are aware that you have requested for your clean to be completed in 14 days. We can book this for tomorrow morning but we cannot guarantee that it will be dry but we will be at the property. Matthew is dedicated to your service and we do want to complete this to a high level for you. If you cannot be at the property, we can look to book this in one day next week at your convenience.
Occasion 8: Wednesday 8th Nov: Shinning windows advised: We have just looked at the weather today and it looks like we are in for a very wet day. This may cause some delays in our services today, we will try to attend services depending on the weather. If this is a decision we have to come to we will let you know that we will be rescheduling your service at a later point today.Thank you for your understanding of the unpredictable weather patterns this week. We look forward to completing your service.
No further communication from shining windows confirming.
I emailed shinning windows: I have had no further communications after the below in which you advised you would advise if you are rescheduling my service today. My service was due at 11am as per your last email communication and we have had only a tiny bit of light rain. Please can you ensure you check weather forecasts in advance and try to schedule these appropriately. Both my weather applications also show a clear forecast today with only light rain. I also shared screen shots this is a deliberate avoidance of carrying out the service.
Awful service- I have lost count and on no occasions have I refused a service. I have been kept waiting at home and sacrificing not being in the office. This is unfair and unreasonable. They have failed to communicate with me when they can or cannot attend. Deeply disappointed at the avoidance to provide a service or respond to my need for a service within the 14 days of me sending a letter advised by citizens advice. It is completely unacceptable and unreasonable to treat customers like this. You have blocked me on Instagram not allowing me to access communication unlike other customers discriminating against me. This is unfair and unequal treatment for no other reason than I can understand except for the avoidance of service and communication.
I have not received a reply on the 19th October regarding the services I bought from you on 17th August 2023. Unprofessional and inconsiderate to peoples time or money. This is no more than stealing money without providing a service.

Shining windows shining roof

After many cancellations due to numerous reasons Matt finally turned up and completed my conservatory roof clean. All in all a very nice couple and a very satisfactory job done, and very reasonably priced. Thanks Matt and Cass

Very nice people, amazing service

Congratulations of being awarded best cleaning company in Milton Keynes, you totally deserve it! I have been using Shining Windows since I moved into Milton Keynes in 2016, every service completed to such a standard that I am genuinely surprised each time. The windows and frames look amazing every time, all this pollution in the city builds up quickly and is visible on the window frames every month. I have also had my driveway and patio cleaned recently, again they just amaze me. They literally made my drive look brand new, it hasn't been cleaned since I moved in and now idea when before that. The equipment was professional and impressive to watch, the treatment made it smell nice and then the re-sanding just simply finished it off. I can vouch that both Matt and Cass are hard working individuals, have recommended them to friends and family which also use their booking services online. You both deserve more awards simply for your business model alone, let alone your friendly characters and dedication.

External Window Clean

Matt was very professional and done a great job on my windows. He was extremely helpful and gave me advice on cleaning my patio as I'd recently bought a jet washer, and he also noticed plant growth in my guttering and vacuumed my front gutter for free, which was very kind of him. Highly recommend.
