Paid a lot for this watch. After a few uses the screen went dark and is now unusable. Cannot get the courage to throw out this expensive watch. Brought one when it first came out.

Love my Swimmo. Since I started using it, my lap time is down 7 seconds. I am swimming more consistently and have lost 60 pounds. Thanks Swimmo.

Why Swimmo is a good Watch for tracking Swimming

Here is my positive review of this Swimmo Watch that I bought at the end of August 2019. First of all, I bought Swimmo because my Samsung Galaxy Watch stopped tracking swimming workout. While swimming for less than 30 minutes was working fine, but when I started to swim over 40 minutes got damaged within three weeks. So if you intend to swim with any Smartwatch from Apple or Samsung, consider the fact that they could easily get damaged with pool water.
Since I am using Swimmo (30th August 2019), I did 56 workout to date. I've been swimming, on average: 6 days a week, 42 minutes and tracked over 90% of my workouts with Swimmo. Everything worked fine, the watch for me is great and it's doing exactly what I bought for: tracking my laps, distance, time, heart rate, but most importantly, because I can visualize my results, my motivation is very high.

Tracking: laps and distance are 99% accurately, no doubt about that.Heart rate is accurate, when I swim relaxed stay below 105 BPM, I tested in the steam room and sauna and my BPM goes up to 130 after 8 10 minutes, so again it;s accurate. The calorie counter, to be fair I cannot say, but if Swimmo says 480/500 after my 40 minutes free style swim, I am fine with that, not so important.
Now, one missing feature is the auto stop. basically when you stop to take a break you need to manually pause the workout. For me it's not so important, it's easy to double tap on pause icon and restart.

Battery: it can last 3 to 4 swim of 50 minutes, after that I charge it just to be sure it works on my next swim. To charge, it takes 1.5h via USB dock, not a big deal.
the Screen, yes it's is quite hard to tap and activate, but it has to be that way since it doesn't have any physical buttons (good thing so no water can leak in). Also, it is advised to keep Swimmo in a case otherwise it can gets activated with bumps (and if you don't turn it off, the battery runs out quickly).

Fits: It's very lightweight, fits perfectly on my wrist, it's very comfortable to wear and swim, and for me, better than an usual watch. It doesn't have any buttons on the side, and it's a good stuff as no water can leak in (not like Galaxy Watch where you need to eject water via function)

The OLED screen, yes is not futuristic or as modern as any smartwatches, but, we are swimming, not playing with the screen.

The screen remains always on while swimming, which is a good thing, you don't need to stop to check. It can vibrate every 25%, 50, 75 and 100% of your workout, so I am aware of my workout without interruptions. (other smartwatches, the screen dims after 5 minutes with no chance to keep always on)

Connectivity and APP. I am an Android User, I have a Google Pixel 3 XL as most recent phone and I keep my Galaxy S6 from 2016 as backup. The connection with Android was and can be painful, as you probably require to download other Bluetooth apps, and YES, it might not connect. With IPHONE, no problem at all, it can take up to 30 / 40 seconds to connect, every time, but it does work. It is not a Bluetooth pairing, the app will get Bluetooth permission and then synchronize with the watch. Myself, I use my partner phone to sync my workout. Not a big deal. To be fair, at the beginning I was a little bit frustrated, but by now I got used to it. I am not using Android to sync it, I am not saying it doesn't work with Android, but with my 2 Android phones, I couldn't manage to get a smooth synchronization as I am getting with iPhone. Again, This is just me.

Swimmo App: the app is fine, you can see your workout in a decent format: for each lap you can see the time, heart rate. It is accurate. Now you cannot see more details such as SWOLF and other fancy stuff for professional swimmers, but for me, it's not so important as i am not swimming for competition, but just to keep in shape. So if you are a triathlete and you are after an awesome Swim watch, just spend the money and get a Garmin. Period. But a good Garmin is €400 to 600 vs €200 of Swimmo EUR. For me was and is more then good. (also having a 300£ smartwatch, no way I am spending extra for a Garmin).

I read most of the reviews here, and I genuinely think they are not fair, also I can only see 70+ reviews and they are all in some shape negative or poor. For me they DO NOT represent the real Swimmo.

My suggestion is to consider exactly what is your swimming purpose. If you want to track your workout with accurate and basic information, and you want a reliable watch for swimming, SWIMMO IT IS. If you are a pro swimmer and you have the money, then get a Garmin.

I am swimming in a good gym pool, I see out of 20 guys, only 2 or 3 have a watch and most likely a Garmin, but they have the cash and probably they do track more sports besides swimming.

If swimming becomes your only sport, well Swimmo can be the right companion.

I lost 11kg in 4 months, swimming at least 6 times a week for 40 min on average and Swimmo was definitely an important part for keeping my motivation up.

Lastly, if you read my story: Swimmo cost 179£ or 199 EUR. Is it worth the money? from 1 to 10 I would give a 8. I hope it will last for long time, so far all good.

Delivery. it's free and comes from Poland via Post. you will get it within 7 working days, it's not amazon prime, but can you wait?

And, if you have issues or questions, the Swimmo customer support are very nice and they reply very quickly and professionally, at least they were very nice to me.

I hope my review can be useful to make the right decision about this swim watch. Happy swimming to everybody and, for me, having this Swimmo tracker, it is definitely valuable.

Best wishes.

Hello. Thank you for this very detailed review - we appreciate your feedback and we will continue to improve our product to address some of the points you've made (for example SWOLF and automatic rest detection that you've mentioned will surely be implemented).

The one thing that we wish to clarify is that the delivery method will not always be the postal service. This depends on the country of destination and the reliability of the postal and courier services in the given country.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!!

Swimmo,

The reason I didn't ask to send it back was because I wanted it to work. I tried everything you suggested. It's not up to me to find working components that should be included in the product, to make the watch work.
If it was, as you said, the cable, don't forget you provided that cable. Those kind of cables tend to have different connectors. None of the cables that I tried worked. I'm not going to try cables that don't fit in case it damages the watch! It was on you to supply everything needed to make the watch work, and you didn't. I shouldn't have to spend four months trying to get your product to work.
I find your attitude and product horrifically bad. You haven't even offered to reimburse the postage I had to pay for to send it back.

Disappointed

I have to say I'm very disappointed with this product. I have had it for a few months now. And I seem to be spending half my time charging it. The battery never seems to last past one swim. The watch turns its self on regularly. I have been unable to sync it with the app. For the money this product cost and the amount of weeks it took to deliver, along with the very obvious issues with it I would not recommend it

Dear Mathew, we are sorry that you are dissatisfied. From your message we can see that you tried to pair the watch directly to your phone's Bluetooth interface, whereas it should be done via the mobile app only. As for the other issues - please e-mail us the details and we will surely help.

Unusable product

Unusable product. Constantly having to do reset. The pulse/HR feature just does NOT work because it s wildly inaccurate - it reports HR way down. While swimming it will miss laps whenever it wants. Sync with mobile app works half of the times because teh app either does not find the phone or the phone is stuck and needs to be reset. Integration with Strava does not work at all. The worst part is customer service. They are are arrogant, petulant, rude and unhelpful.
For $200 save yourself the trouble and spend the money at the liquor store you will be happier.

What a disappiontment

Lets see, what are my issues with this watch.
1. Doesn't provide a set workout. It does laps, but trying to analyze after a swim is impossible... I think the set of 100's I did are laps 40 - 100 on the watch.
2. Requires very strong hitting to get it to realize you want it to start.
3. Cannot get it to sync with phone app very well. It takes 4-5 tries.
4. Cannot read it at while swimming.
5. Cannot get two complete swims before a charge. Basically, swim, charge and swim again.
6. Lack of usable documentation. There is no real users guide to help you determine why you would want to use a particular function. I still don't know how to use a goal properly.

This was supposed to be a swimmers watch. All the videos I watched had people so pleased. But reality check, who goes on their phone before a swim to set up a goal. Especially if you read #3 above. I want to get in the pool, get my workout done and be able to see how I did on the set of 200's. Wait, can't do that, see #1. I had such high hopes with this watch, but I'm completely disappointed; think I'll go to a garmin swim.

Hello Randy.

We appreciate your feedback, although we would like to point out that the specification and the functions of the watch are listed on our website. Sets/intervals are among our future plans but for now please remember to pause the workout when resting.

The watch requires slight tapping on the screen - this is not a touch screen that you can find in your smartphone, but it definitely does not require hitting it hard. We are sure that it's a matter of getting used to it, but this solution has multiple advantages over a standard touch screen or physical buttons.

As far as syncing is concerned, it might be a matter of setting the phone correctly. You have not contacted us for support so we cannot say much more.

The watch should be perfectly visible underwater and we would like to hear more from you.

The battery should last for around 5 hours of continuous workout, which is also specified on the website.

You can find the full manual in the FAQ section of our website - we hope this helps.

Buyer Beware

Buyer Beware. I placed an order yesterday at 4:18pm and at 4:21pm upon receiving the order confirmation, I decided that I did not want the watch, due to poor reviews on customer service and lack of general information on the website.

I was told some bogus answer that it already had shipped. Highly impossible. There is no Q&A about returns/refunds, that it is shipping from Poland, the wait times for a refund or return, and even at most basic steps or instructions for refunds.

Terrible customer service, I would recommend a new strategy for customer service instead of marketing videos, thankfully, I have an American Express.

If they do ship the package it is being refused. Good luck getting your watch back Swimmo.

I would like to give this watch a zero…

I would like to give this watch a zero rating. It never gives me accurate distance. Very frustrating when you're training for an event. Several times it hasn't synced with my phone at end of workout. While swimming, the screen would change to a different screen. At times I had to tap and tap many times to get any response on the screen. Horribly frustrating watch! I was told by customer support to check the faq. I read the online manual word-for-word. None of these issues were addressed.

Swimmo = Vaporware hype

I am an avid swimmer, swimming between 1-3 miles a day (open water and pool). I bought a swimmo ''watch'' to track my mileage. I was so hyped and excited (and even supported their Kickstarter campaign). So, there I was, with a 200$ watch and looking like a complete fool trying to activate the thing in the water. I had to tap so hard for it to activate, and even then the watch is confused. During swimming, it would stop itself and after swimming, it would not stop. Occasionally it did not track at all which is especially distressing after a big swim or an Alcatraz swim! I tested it for 4-5 days but the watch was clearly defective at the most basic level. I contacted swimmo and they were instantly rude and hostile. They told me I was wrong and was using it improperly (even though I had made no comment about how I was using it). I contacted Mateusz Heleniak, the CEO directly (looking for some sanity) to tell him how much of a fan I was, how I admire and support thier mission but felt that the watch was not ready for launch and was putting his company at risk. I could see that he read it (on facebook messanger) but he chose not to reply. I went back to Swimo support while still well within my return period and warranty but they completely froze me out. I tried to contact them via e-mail, facebook, linkedin, calling and even Angellist. I was being super resonable and polite with them, I couldn't believe how they were treating me... especially someone from such a niche community. I knew they were getting my messages, so I guess they made a conscious choice to avoid my messages. All I was asking for was a refund to a clearly defective product (well withing my warrantly/return policy!) Perhaps if they admitted one fault, there would be a domino effect? Anyway, I never heard from them again, and I'm starting to beleive that swimmo (as a company) had good intentions initially but it's essentially a scam now. It is a start-up after all. Very very disappointed. I was really rooting for them. Unconvinced? I was too. Check out thier unboxing video... the comments are disabled. Not a good sign. The watch is also not to be found on amazon, the comments would be too scathing. They only advertise their own in house 'customer reviews', which is essentially lying. Super sad. I feel totally robbed and moreover, it creates a distrust market wide between customer and grass roots start-ups. You launched too early guys.

EDIT: The watch took way longer than 14 days to even arrive let alone test. The fact remains that it doesn’t work. Daylight robbery.

Hello Bastiaan.

We have just reviewed your case from the end of 2018 and the conversation is about you wishing to return the watch beyond the 14 day return period due to misreading the specification. We can also see that the last reply in the Facebook conversation was ours, so your claim about us ignoring your messages is simply untrue, as is the core of the review. We will gladly provide screenshots or transcripts if you need evidence for this.

We understand that you are dissatisfied that we did not make an exception for you, but we consider writing a review composed entierly of false information dishonest and unfair.

In response to Swimmo trying to make my complaint appear ungenuine, I have one last thing to say. You are liars, we have established that, that's why you haven't really addressed the issues I mentioned in my earlier review and deflected your answer to a personal one. But you are probably also not very reflective or smart for one simple reason: MOST OF the real customer reviews here are NEGATIVE ONE STAR REVIEWS COMPLAINING TO YOU ABOUT THE SAME THINGS OVER AND OVER AGAIN. you never answer and you never accept fault or responsibility. 54% average, poor or bad reviews with a whopping 39% BAD ones. Maybe you should take the hint and start accepting that your product is CRAP and start apologising to your obviously dissatisfied EX customers, because we have all given up on any possibility of you providing us with a quality product and staying true to your promises. You are scammers. Everyone knows that now ! You have a nice day!

Excellent swim tracking and training, display just needs brightening

I upgraded from the old Garmin Swim and the Swimmo is far more accurate. It has almost never dropped or added a lap. The kick and drill settings are also good if you're after a "coach" to help you improve. Heart rate monitoring is also great and I find the app easy to use.

My only gripe is that the display is very difficult to see in sunlight, I have to cup my hand around the display and look at it with one eye to see the display. If Swimmo makes a new version they really need to get this improved and I would give it 5/5

It'll break and you won't get a replacement or your money back

I really liked the watch for the 4 months it worked. But when I emailed customer service I just got the runaround when all I wanted was to send the defective product back and get a replacement. Lesson learned. These guys are frauds.

Read their response---more BS. Don't trust them and go with a recognized brand (Fitbit, Applewatch) that actually works and will stand behind their product.

Dear Wayne, we are sorry you felt this way but what you've described is simply false. You've been told two times that we will repair or replace your product if it's indeed faulty. Our initial e-mail was not "runaround" - it was meant to preliminarily identify the potential issue so that we could determine the best course of action and, ultimately, save you time and trouble. If you cooperated the issue would most likely be already resolved.

Not at all helpful for swimming

Not at all helpful for swimming. Can't see the display in the sunlight. I was not able to start it up unless my iPhone was near; then I could never turn it off (I stopped the swim workout, but it continued to run down the battery if it was near the iPhone). It doesn't tell me my lap time and rest time during my workout. The battery didn't last long. I gave it the old college try; had it less than a month, but the customer service says I only had 14 days to return it. I won't be using it.

Hello. There seems to be some misunderstanding, as the phone is needed only for configuring the settings and transferring the workout history. The phone is not required to be connected or near to operate the watch nor does it affect the battery life. Please feel free to let us know in case you have further doubts.
