Review based on BMW M3 Competion - LO18 BZD currently for sale at BMW Tring.
Appalling after sales service from this dealership. Bought this San marino blue M3 in November 2024 which I had to return due to a fault with the turbo waste gates rattling excessively, dealt with Jason Osborne who reeks of arrogance and self importance. He ignores calls and texts and lacks the ability to make the customer happy.
I approached him with the issues I was having with the car only for him to respond by saying "we can't refund you the full amount unless the car is faulty" then actually refunding the full amount which indicates he knows the car is faulty but just won't admit it.
2 days into the ownership of this car the paint washed off the front offside alloy, it then had to go into BMW Nottingham for over a week to have them refurbished for the second time in less than a month. I also reported the rattling from the engine at this point.
When I arrived to collect the car BMW Nottingham curbed my alloy wheel and had to have a brand new alloy on the car which didn't match so had to go away again for a 3rd refurb in a month. I also spent the next 3 weeks putting air in my tyres as the valves were leaking following the refurbishment and was initially told this issue was coincidental.
I collected the car and felt happy to have it back, but the rattling noises coming from the engine persisted and became worse. After countless visits to the Nottingham dealership I was told BMW would not replace the turbos due to rattling wastegates. I approached Jason Osborne, who initially said I could not have a refund for the car unless faulty but could part ex for something else, which I found to be a cheap and insulting comment. He said he would compare it to another car but then I heard nothing from him and he ignored my calls and messages.
I finally made contact and it was agreed the car would be returned to BMW Tring for an inspection. After a 200-mile round trip to take the car, I believed the car would be fixed and returned the following Saturday. I was told the told the turbos would need removing, and I was happy to wait provided it would be fixed.
I received a phone call from Jason Osborne- " great news sir, your car is fixed " This after 3 weeks of dropping the car off to them. We drove the 100-mile journey back to collect the car to be greeted by exactly the same rattling noise upon starting and revving. At this point I asked for my money back, 400 miles and the car was the same if not worse! The only difference with the car was that someone had taken my car out and put 62 miles on it, used a quarter of tank of fuel and had damaged another alloy wheel. This was all without my permission.
We left in the hire car for another 2 weeks! BMW Tring had the car for 5 weeks and failed to fix the fault but did find 2 other faults unrelated - lose heat shield & something loose on the brakes.
After a lot of chasing, I tried to contact Louise Hill with no success so I lost my patience and once again asked for my money back if they could not fix the car. Jason finally agreed to give me a full refund (which in my opinion is a full admission of being unable to fix the car) and that i would have to take the full carbon fibre kit off the car that i had put on as an investment to the vehicle but this would now cost me a further £500 with removal and travel costs.
I finally spoken to Louise Hill about the extras I had put on the car (full carbon fibre kit) and she said this offer was fair to have a full refund on the car. This offer was NOT FAIR! I am over £2000 out of pocket and have constantly had my time wasted. Countless hours, miles and money wasted as a result of the incompetence of BMW Sytner Tring.
Dealing with Louise Hill and Jason Osborne is pointless as all they kept saying was the car has no faults yet Sam in the service department sent a text stating the car has a fault that they're working out how to fix.
Please be warned about this dealership.
I wish I had read Google reviews before making this expensive purchase!

What I find laughable is that Sytner would give such a lame response to me when I paid CASH for the car and for the kit, THEY"D rather lie than admit the truth..
It makes no sense for me to buy this car and pay for the kit to then return it and ask for a refund unless it's faulty so let's not beat around the bush with nonsense.
When I took the car to the Dealership I actually raised the question "Could it be the catalytic converter" the reply was NO!!! It's all documented in their database unless they've redacted it. BMW mentioned its a third party kit yet list it as a feature in the advert then speak crudly of it. I'd expect this level of service from Terry Tibbs back street garage not a multi million pound company!! If Tring had of refurbished the wheels to a high standard from the get go BMW Nottingham wouldn't have had to mop up their mess
Good night God bless

I’m extremely disappointed with the service I received at Sytner BMW Tring.
I brought in my 2011 BMW 3 Series (Japanese import) to resolve two persistent dashboard warnings (airbag and seatbelt). After an initial £150 diagnostic and a quoted £1,106 + VAT for the full repair, I expected a clear and professional resolution. Instead, I was asked to approve further charges — ultimately rising to nearly £2,900 — without any guarantee the issue would be fixed.
At no point was I told the NOx and oxygen sensor replacements were unrelated to the original fault. These parts were fitted without clearly linking them to the airbag/seatbelt warnings, and I only later found out they addressed a performance issue I hadn’t requested to fix. I was also told my car’s “lag” was normal due to short trips, then told the opposite weeks later — the inconsistency is troubling.
Despite being without my car for over three weeks and paying for multiple diagnostics and repairs, the original issue remains unresolved. Communication was poor, transparency was lacking, and key details were only shared when I pushed for answers.
I trusted BMW to act with technical integrity and clear accountability — this experience has seriously damaged that trust. I wouldn’t recommend this dealership based on how this case was handled.

Just used Sytner Tring following a recall notice. The service and courtesy car were very good and Nathan even managed to sort out my windscreen wash for a very good price. Would definitely recommend and use again.

The staff in this branch are really excellent: each and every one goes out of their way to be helpful and polite from the moment one arrives on site. Nathan Lynch is outstandingly professional and efficient: everything happens like clockwork. And let's not forget the technicians who do the job: I never have any complaint - beautifully done. And the car-washer who returns my car spotless.
Attractive waiting area and decent coffee etc.

I was in the market for my first BMW and Amir at Tring made it a smooth professional hassle-free experience. Listened to everything I needed and genuinely felt like he was looking out for me rather than his sale.
Would fully recommend asking for Amir, top guy

My recent experience with Sytner Tring BMW has been deeply disappointing and frustrating, leaving me with significant doubts about their integrity, competence and commitment to customer service.
The issues began when my vehicle developed persistent battery problems. Despite multiple visits and assurances, the root cause— a concealed tracker device — was consistently overlooked. Instead, Sytner Tring chose to prematurely replace the battery at a cost of £422, an expense they have repeatedly refused to refund despite later acknowledging the tracker was the real issue.
Throughout this ordeal, I encountered a series of confusing and contradictory explanations. Initially, they justified the battery replacement by referencing a fault supposedly stored since December 2021, later recharacterising this as merely a “battery registration issue.” This inconsistency raises serious questions about transparency and honesty.
Adding insult to injury, Sytner Tring "proactively" replaced the iDrive controller, despite no fault being present and without my authorisation. Initially described as a misunderstanding, they later attempted to frame this unnecessary replacement as a "proactive" measure. It seems clear that BMW UK has likely borne the cost of this unjustifiable action, raising ethical questions about their warranty claim processes.
The handling of warranty claims was similarly questionable. Sytner introduced a new claim that the battery wasn't covered due to interference from third-party devices, a point never raised during initial communications or clearly documented in the BMW Approved Used Car Warranty terms provided. This retrospective justification appears crafted solely to deny my valid claim.
Despite repeatedly requesting detailed documentation, Sytner Tring has consistently delayed or failed to provide comprehensive updates. This lack of transparency compelled me to involve the Head of Business directly to seek accountability—an extraordinary step no customer should ever have to take.
Ultimately, dealing with Sytner Tring BMW has been exhausting and has significantly eroded my trust. Their consistent deflection, inadequate responses and reluctance to accept responsibility speak volumes about their approach to customer service and business ethics.
I strongly caution others to consider carefully before trusting this dealership with their vehicles or their business.
Later edit: No surprise, even a more dishonest reply. AVOID!
