The only independent and impartial consumer advice website for domestic heating customers. Pages of free of guidance on gas, oil and renewable heating systems with options for 1-2-1 advice to save you time, money and stress.
Jamie Nelson is an excellent engineer who not only installed my boiler without fuss, but continues to service it to the highest degree.
Would highly recommend.
Desperate for advice about my future heating needs on my limited budget, I was relieved to find the totally independent service of The Heating Hub. Instead of contracting me to their service, I was sign posted to the ECO4 grant support scheme. The Heating Hub kept in contact every few weeks to ensure the process was progressing satisfactorily. Having finally decided on the outcome which best suited me I made a final call to close off my communication, and felt reassured. Although I entered no formal contract, I wanted to write this review to express my appreciation for the informal but immensley knowledgeable professional, support I was given. Had I had a budget to retrofit and upgrade my Heating system I would have no hesitation in paying for the independent services on offer. I have no hesitation in recommending the Heating Hub who offer excellent customer service. Many thanks
What made our experience great was that this was no small expense for us and although we were prepared to spend the money we wanted to spend it wisely, be made aware of options and the best solution for our bespoke house and lifestyle. The process of survey consultation and the Elite installer (who had a lot of expertise) made us very satisfied customers.

£180 well spent! Trying to navigate the jungle of boiler options and installers myself seemed daunting. Even checking for best boiler brands on Which? only got me so far. After a consultation with the Heating Hub I felt confident about the choice of boiler. The Heating Engineer they recommended was also great. I've still looked around and tried to compare, but stuck with the engineer in the end and was very happy!

Had a new Viessmann 050 25kw combi boiler fitted in June 2023. Acting on their advice I decided to use weather compensation to control the heating. This is coupled with an EPH controller which basically switches system off at set temperatures. I have the system set to 24 deg, but the boiler setting is 20 deg controlled by the weather sensor. Room temp is 21 deg constantly. At night setback is set to 18 deg but doesn't go that low so it's off all night. Savings are massive compared to my old boiler, plus house is always warm. All thanks to the advice I received. Can fully recommend weather comp.

In March 2021 I paid for advice to reduce my 2020 32,000 kWh annual gas energy use. The principle advice received on adjusting the boiler controls alone (together with Heat Geek advice to heat more constantly but at lower temperatures to avoid peaks and troughs) resulted in the following reduced annual uses:
2021 - 28,400kWh (12% saving on 2020...but we didn't implement change till autumn 2021)
2022 - 24,400kWh (24% saving on 2020)
2023 - 22,100kWh (31% saving on 2020 assuming same use in Nov/Dec 2023 as 2022)
Given that a 20% saving is equivalent to £480 in reduced bills (6,400kWh at 7.5p/kWh)...paid for itself in 1 year. The rest since then is just pure gravy!
Date of experience (2021-03-20) adjusted to allow review to be posted.

A very professional consultancy with excellent knowledge of heating and problem resolving.
I can't recommend them enough the referral system is the cherry on the cake because without quality heating technicians a consultation does not mean the problems are remediated. 5 Stars

Their online guide and ebook are excellent. I learnt a huge amount - heating technology has come a long way recently. I only wish I had engaged with the Heating Hub earlier, before I was trapped into replacing my broken boiler in a hurry. My advice would be get in touch with the Heating Hub at the first sign of needing a new boiler, (or thinking of upgrading) and then decide if it is for you. I discovered from experience that "independent" heating engineers are neither as independent or knowledgeable as you might hope. (For example, many are tied into lucrative contracts with specific boiler manufacturers). Also, all except one insisted I needed a big 30kw boiler (bigger boiler, more profit I guess). In reality, I've found that 18 or 24kW would have been more than big enough... as per the Heating Hub guide.

The Heating Hub and the Installer took ownership of my heating and hot water requirements and delivered a brilliant package. I cannot believe how effective, effective and economical my heating is. Thank you all so much.

The team at the heating hub have been amazing. We had just moved into a detached half timbered listed building when the old heating system failed. We did not have a clue which system would suit our needs, Jo and the team were knowledgeable, professional and turned the survey round in double quick time as we had no heating at all! I also recommend the after service where all quotes from elite fitters and others are reviewed. (There is no pressure to use the Hubs recommendation). Doing this has saved us hundreds on the installation and in addition we got a higher spec boiler and system. We chose Kevin ( an Elite installer) who was excellent. We are now warm and are saving money on energy bills as a result. Money well spent!

Our 19 year old boiler was not performing well. Various plumbing companies gave us advice and estimates, but for most it was ‘just a one day job’, putting in an equivalent sized boiler to our existing one. Let’s face it, this a major investment and can seriously affect your quality of life!
We decided to pay for THH’s advice and filled in a comprehensive questionnaire which enabled Jo and team to recommend the size and type of heating system we required. Jo gave us a personal phone consultation and advised us to go for a 10-15 Kw boiler to replace our old 24 Kw boiler, which she maintained was oversized for our property.
An elite installer came round within three days, spent a full hour assessing our needs and offered a no obligation quote.
We now have what can only be described as a bespoke heating system, carefully and thoughtfully installed to cater for the heat loss potential of our house. The boiler is a 15 Kw fully guaranteed Worcester Bosch. The most reassuring factor was that the installer did not give us lots of incomprehensible verbiage as some plumbers do. He tackled the job by looking at our system as a whole, making adjustments to other areas and explaining every step of the process. The job took three days and was still competitively priced. The installers were highly competent and trustworthy.
We’re so thankful we contacted THH. The comparatively small fee was worth every penny. Thank you Jo and your team.

We used The Heating Hub to provide us with independent advice on installing a heatpump in a small 3 bed terraced house. Jo and the Heating Hub team were able to provide us with good advice as to whether a heat pump was possible and managed to convince us that it was.
The installation was performed by a company from their network of 'Elite Installers' - they installed to our satisfaction and did a great job.
The system has been running for two weeks as expected.
Given the many opinions on heat pumps, it's great to have a fact driven advice by professionals who know how to install a heatpump system correctly. would recommend their service, especially given their experience with renewable heating systems now the cost of conventional heating systems has peaked.

I was met with a challenge recently which essentially required me to get independent advise to help me understand the efficiency of my LPG central heating system and also have some calculations on heat loss to inform my work to date on replacing LPG with an Air Source Heat Pump. I cannot recall how I found the Heating Hub but I immediately thought that is exactly what I am looking for.
Th team at THH were super helpful in helping me understand what they could do and how they could help. I paid for the work, filled in the online information, sent over the documents - they got the work done quicker than planned. We had a call, agreed additional scope was required and repeated the cycle. The advise I got from Jo was practical and pragmatic, she was patient and understanding. She is obviously technical and I am less so but she was able to adjust things to help my understanding and was patient and willing to take questions.
I have been introduced to an Elite installer and through him have been able to locate a local firm suitably qualified to help me further.
I am not home and dry yet but the work, help and support the THH team have given has been valuable, easy, straight forward, polite, honest and pleasant.
All in all a very good experience and a company I would happily recommend and importantly use again when I have a need.

The Heating Hub were excellent - very reassuring to have advice I trusted on replacing our boiler and the options available. They put me in touch with a good plumber, and the work was done relatively quickly It was a relief to have an approved and expert plumber. Thanks!

The Heating Hub were a great help finding our way through this new world of air source heat pumps. They gave guidance on specification and cost, along with the name of an Elite Installer. After several quotes we chose the elite installer. He has completed the installation to a high standard, and kept us well informed during the wait for our ASHP due to post pandemic supply issues. We are very happy with our installation.

Jo couldn't have been more helpful and so was the Elite Installer they referred me to. They were both extremely knowledgeable about the best way to install a gas boiler efficiently. The engineer went out of his way to fit us in as soon as possible (our boiler had properly given up!). It's too early to say what the cost savings are, but my hunch is that we'll definitely save what we spent on the consultation within the year. Highly highly recommend the heating hub!

Professional, prompt, efficient and very knowledgeable- could not ask for more. They put me in touch with their Elite Installer, Fred who was just as impressive and so much more...
Cannot thank them enough for their recommendation to Fred and his Team.
Would highly recommend The Heating Hub.

My experience with the Heating Hub was without doubt a 5 star experience, from my first call with them, through to them supplying me with an extremely well written and in depth report on what heating and hot water system would best suit my needs. Throughout the process if I had any questions they got back to me very quickly. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone who is feeling a little unsure about what boiler to choose that will best suit their home/needs.
