When the lamppost charging points are…

When the lamppost charging points are working, the charging is easy and relatively cheap. However, the points seem to drop out fairly often in the streets around our flat and I’m regularly notifying them of faults. Having said that, I can usually find a working one. Don’t understand why there are so many faults with the system

My first ever PHEV charge was as easy as it gets

My first ever PHEV charge - I parked by the kerb, scanned the QR code, added my card details, took out my Type 2 charging cable, plugged it to the lamppost and to the car - the light goes green and... that all there is to it, my car starts charging!
Reasonably priced compared to other services (I gues anything seems reasoanable compared to Source London!)
No need to set up any accounts or pay for subscriptions - Ubitricity chargers are pretty much everywhere now. This is the type of infrastructure we need - easy to access and reasonably priced.

Probably the dumbest con of a company…

Probably the dumbest con of a company in EVs. Get this. So you can’t charge on most of there points without a £300 smart charger you buy from them. Only problem. They have none and no future date they will be in stock. This is illegal under new government legislation all charging points MUST have pay as you go capabilities. The customer service are script reading robots so no use asking them

Hi Mr Mustafa,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, we’re sorry to hear you had a bad experience with ubitricity. We have in excess of 2,500 charge points across the country that are accessible via the Pay As You Go process. You can find one near you here: www.ubitricity.co.uk/residential_charging/
Please look for the PLUS sign on the charge point icon which indicates a pay as you go compatible SimpleSocketPLUS’. We’re currently working on making the remaining Smart Cable only charge points accessible for everyone.

Warning

Warning, their charging points can seriously damage your car. On 3 occasions my car has developed a serious electrical fault due to their charging points. I have called an emailed several times about this issue but their customer service is useless, they never reply, but simply ignore my calls/contact. AVOID!

Awful customer service

Great concept and everything started off well for a long time until my cable stopped working, only admitted by the company after I had my car taken in to a garage and I chased it up, to be told it was old and needed replacing with new software. Then when I tried to cancel and get my subscription stopped, customer service has been appalling. I sold my car 3 weeks ago and told them I no longer needed their services or cables, and am yet to get any meaningful response other than "we'll be in touch". I've rarely come across such poor customer service before, and working in the service industry, I know what to expect.
