£25.00 charge for basic advice
My iphone keyboard sporadically stops working during phone calls, predominantly when I'm trying to key in financial details. NS&I tech help suggested I ask my phone supplier for assistance. After a cursory glance, Tayyeb at Hampstead Vodafone said he couldn't find anything wrong in settings, but next time it happened, I could pop into the shop during the call. He also said he could investigate but there would be a £25.00 charge. The first solution was totally impractical (I could be a long way from the shop) and the second surprised me as I had always had excellent (cost-free) service at Hampstead which was why I have stayed with the company for almost 30 years. Communications did break down. I then checked the problem via Google. There were 11m responses to this problem none of which incurred a cost. I printed out a MacReport to show Tayyeb, and also checked with another mobile supplier who confirmed it's a well-known problem which is easily solved.
Tayyeb continued to insist any help would incur a charge. Based on Trust Pilot comments and my own experience of help over the years, this intransigent approach is not what Vodafone is known for. It was one of the most disappointing and upsetting episodes I have had with tech suppliers.

Great service from Daniel at Hampstead Vodafone
