I had a very disappointing experience at the Wickes store in Chesterfield recently.

While shopping in the store itself was fine, the service at the tills completely let the experience down. The staff member who served me, A larger man who I believe was named Rico or Rich according to the name badge, was abrupt and dismissive throughout the interaction. There was no greeting and it felt as though serving customers was an inconvenience rather than part of the job.

When I asked a simple question, I received a short and unhelpful response, which only added to the frustration. Good customer service doesn’t require much — just basic courtesy and a willingness to help — but unfortunately that was completely lacking in this situation.

I hope management at Wickes Chesterfield take feedback like this seriously and remind staff that professionalism and politeness towards customers matter. This interaction left a very poor impression and made what should have been a simple purchase unnecessarily unpleasant.

Based on this experience, I’ll definitely think twice before returning to this store.

I bought a tin of exterior gloss paint. Well stocked up and good quality. I got served straight away.

Awesome service, drivers are helpful and friendly. It’s £4 in time and fuel to use the delivery service if you don’t need the items immediately, even better if it’s something that won’t go in the car like an 8x4 sheet.

excellent delivery again. had another delivery by citysprint of compost, fast delivery on time, had 4 hour slot and could track the van live too. had these delivered to my back door accessed from a different street, courier was very helpful and polite. trolleyed them down narrow lane through my door and put them neatly on my path where i wanted them. will use again, had same great
service last year

Items arrived next day no issues, I received regular texts and emails with tracking and delivery times.

Popped in to the Chesterfield store for some Dulux paint mixing, Ian was friendly and knowledgeable and gave me some great advice.

Great service. Served by Chloe who saw that I needed help. She helped me sort out my problem. Hawksmoor battery no longer supplied by Toolstation. Wikes brand is the perfect replacement.

Goods delivered right to my door which was great as some were very heavy ( I am elderly with health problems) . Driver polite and friendly. Excellent service.

Delivery driver was spot on and really helpful with unloading the items delivered.

I called today to collect some items I had ordered. It was busy and I had to wait at the collection point. A young man (Joseph) was serving on the till but immediately acknowledged me with a smile. He quickly called a colleague to cover the till so he could serve me. He took the heavy items I’d ordered to my car and loaded everything into the boot. He was exceptionally polite and helpful, a credit to your store! Many thanks!

The delivery was on time and my items arrived in perfect condition the delivery driver was friendly and helpful.would recommend.
