Additional information regarding review

I have dealt with Wickes Widnes and have had the most stressful experience. There whole system is floored. Customer care non existent. I am paying nearly £12,000 for en-suite which is not finished as plan projection after dealing with at least 6 members of their customer care team they Derek has emailed me to say my complaint is not going any further even though my job is not as final photo plan and that the job is now signed off meaning that the finance will kick in October. I have requested proof of why the job is signed off and as yet not received any. Wickes have signed off my job on their own without consulting me as I keep sending emails to say I am not happy and on no circumstances should this job be signed off as acceptable. I have dealt with at least 6 members of the customer care team who acknowledged that until I was happy the job would not be signed off. So can someone explain why this job is signed off by them. I have a large sink top and plinths to be replaced which I am storing in my dining room at the moment. My advice to anyone thinking of dealing with Wickes is do not going by the experience I have suffered I would keep clear of giving them any business. Even the designer at Wickes Widnes that we dealt has agreed that the job should not have been signed off. There was problems at the beginning because the plastic for behind the shower did not match the grey tiles but I as assured that the one I chose would match. I contacted Wickes and they said that the one I had ordered was correct so we continued with the job. Next step when the job was supposed to be completed and the installer had left we noticed that the job did not match the original picture specification we had received from Dave in the shop. The problem was that the installer had not bothered to put a plinth each side of the unit and this meant that the door on the right hand side just went straight into the wall. The right hand side just had a plinth just placed with gaps and then the large base plinth did not look good at all. I phoned the installer and he suggested that I purchase a unit for the left hand side and he would fit it at a cost I could just have this side open to put a couple of ornaments in. I mentioned that the job was not as the picture and he then said he would fit the unit (again I should purchase) and he would fit this for free. I came off the phone shocked this job has cost me nearly £12000 with additional cash payment of £1200 to the installer for fitting the ceiling and plastering one wall. I contacted Wickes on several occasions explaining all different people promising to sort out my problem but nothing happening. Basically the units need to be taken off realigned and the tiles and mirror all need to be redone as the mirror and sink would need to move to the left approx 4" to ensure the plinth on the left and right hand side matched. I was constantly complaining. Dave the original designer came out to view to job and agreed it was unsatisfactory and took photos to send to Wickes to tell them the reasons the job was not to be signed off. On 21st September me and my husband went into the shop to discuss with David who said that he had told Wickes the job was not suitable and that Wickes had been in touch with the installer who said that the mirror could not be moved as no flexibility but he could drill more holes and move the mirror and just plug up the tiles damaged. This meant that I would never move the mirror in the future. What type of installer tells someone who is paying so much money for a good job that (a) put some ornaments in the gap (which should not be there) and (b) I will drill more holes and plus the original ones behind the mirror.

I have contacted Wickes so many times. The original chap I was supposed to deal with was Derek. As far as I am aware he was off for all of the period I was complaining so I spoke to at least 6 members of the customer care team. Derek has recently returned and my frustration was to take all the fittings out and give me my money back as job was not to my satisfaction. He came back and said this was unacceptable but the job is now to be signed off as acceptable. What type of company does this without even sending someone independently out to view the workmanship. I see and hear Wickes being advertised and I just want to say your advert is lies.

Fantastic information.

We've had to put our kitchen on hold but needed some measurements for the installation of a new gas boiler. Lyndsey Matthews was so helpful, friendly and professional. She was able to give me all the information I needed which will also be really beneficial when we return to Wickes to finalise our plan and arrange installation.

Talented designer with great customer care

I would like to thank the designer David Francis at the Widnes store for being so helpful understanding what we want and need and listening.

I am disabled and he took all this into account when designing our bathroom and kitchen and toilet, nothing was too much trouble and I have to say how talented a designer he is.
I would recommend his services at Wickes as nothing was too much trouble and was in our budget and no trying to sell over. Thank you for such great service.

Had a great experience with Wickes…

Had a great experience with Wickes bespoke bathroom design consultation service. Our design consultant Ben was friendly and very knowledgeable. Ben listened to our ideas and requirements for the bathroom. During our consultation a a 3D visualisation of the proposed design was provided. We were able to talk through the design, selecting fixtures and fittings to suit our personal tastes. Would highly recommend this service.
