DB Wider Fit Shoes Reviews 

We visited DB Wider Fit Shoes this week with my very elderly father. The two ladies that assisted us, Sue and Karen, could not have been more helpful or more patient and understanding. They went out of their way to ensure he had perfectly fitting, high quality shoes that he could wear with comfort. He was so delighted he bought four different pairs! Sometimes the elderly are not treated very kindly, but here my dad was more than someone buying shoes. He was a person. Customer services were also extremely kind and helpful when he initially enquired on the telephone. Full marks for DB Shoes. Excellent quality and range. Excellent service. Thank you.

Result! I’ve been suffering for years trying to find a shop that caters for my odd shaped feet! I have to wear orthotics with a high arch. I didn’t want to try the many on-line companies. I discovered this place which is fairly local to me (hour round trip from northampton). So glad I booked a fitting session as you get preferential treatment as it was so busy the place was full due to ‘walk-ins’. Service was excellent from staff who clearly know their job and their stock and are helpful and considerate to all customers on a very hot Friday afternoon. I wanted one or two pairs but ended up buying four pairs and am very happy! Customers come from all over the country and I can see why! Brilliant customer service.

Second visit and purchased 3 more pairs of shoes for my wife. The young lady who who attended to her , Sue, was again fantastic. She understood the problem with my wife's feet and knew what was needed. fantastic product knowledge. Nothing was to much trouble for her. I don't know what she is paid but it is not enough. It is worth the 80 mile round trip, go to the fitting centre you will not be disappointed

my good lady and i booked a fitting service for today, we were a few minutes late however this was not a problem for Sue & Jackie, both ladies were great we were treated with utmost respect and professionalism
we were measured and then tried on a number of shoes, in the end we purchased 3 pairs, all fitting great, i had no idea i was a wide fit size 10, i have always bought size 11 or 12 so to compensate for my wide feet, also now being Diabetic i need to look after my feet better. both Myself and Catherine (my Wife) felt very at ease and very welcomed, it looks like a great place to work, your staff were exemplary in all aspects

STUPIDLY WORE THEM TO THE GARAGE DOOR OUTSIDE SO DB WILL NOT ACCEPT THEM BACK!
NO MENTION OF HUGE SIZE /WEIGHT WHEN MY WIFE ORDERED THEM.

The lovely welcome from the 2 ladies at the Rusden Wider Fit Shoes today was outsanding. Their customer services were escellent. They gave me so much information and made the 40 minutes drive there from where I live so worthwhile.

Firstly, the shoes I've bought previously are well made and last. Secondly, I've just reached pensionable age and still find most of the shoes a bit old fashioned with less to choose from which can I admit be difficult when they are catering for those of us with extra wide widths which may have to include room for orthotics etc. and last but not least my disappointment at the policy they display on VAT relief for some widths but not others feels extremely unfair to the point that I went to the Gov.co.uk website and checked it out. It showed me that 'if' you need extra wide shoes for a chronic problem such as lymphoedema which causes swelling and other problems then I would be eligible for VAT relief but DB say not and refer you to something different. I do not understand that if my width is 2V which is upto around 4E and I need that to afford me room for my bandages etc how I differ from someone with even wider feet as I still have to make the same allowances and have difficulty fitting into off the shelf shoes. The policy they follow implies that my lymphoedema is not as impactful as someone else with even wider feet! Believe me, I have the same problems as agreed at the hospice I attend agree that it is wholly unfair. It's such a shame but constructively, you need to know DB that I have other friends with Lymphoedema who agree and don't shop with you because of this policy so your company who do a great job on all other levels are missing out I feel on sales. I occasionally return to see your styles and see something myself that I'd like to buy but find it so disappointing re the VAT relief that I look elsewhere which is a shame as your quality in both production and service on other levels are obviously good. Please review your policy so I and others can come back and feel treated fairly. How can one person with needs due to lymphoedema be treated differently to another? I'm adding to my review since looking elsewhere for shoes and thought I'd draw you're attention to another wide fitting shoe supplier online who states about correct issuance of VAT relief as per Govt guidelines Individuals who are chronically sick or disabled can claim VAT Relief on products shown with "without VAT" prices. A person is 'chronically sick or disabled' if they:

Have a physical or mental impairment that has a long-term affect on their ability to carry out everyday activities
Have a condition that doctors treat as a chronic sickness (like diabetes, for example)
OR

Are terminally ill
A person with a temporary injury like a broken leg would not qualify, nor would a frail older person who is otherwise well and non-disabled.

The following conditions may also qualify for VAT Relief in some circumstances; Arthritis, Multiple Sclerosis, Oedema, Heart Disease, Stroke.

If you are unsure, please ask your medical advisor as we are not able to give medical opinions.

By completing our online VAT Relief declaration you are agreeing to these terms and conditions and that you are claiming relief from Value Added Tax under Group 12 of Schedule 8 to the Value Added Tax Act of 1994." Therefore, I have to conclude that your policy is at odds with the latest guidelines. It's a shame really. I know of others with my condition who are swollen but in the terms you outline appear to be not swollen enough. Lymphoedema makes shoes extremely difficult to purchase at higher rates because of well made products, that I don't deny but I think where there is a caveat for the person receiving legally correct discount it should be given.

This shop is amazing! If you struggle to find shoes that fit, this is the place for you! They sell a huge range of lovely shoes and you get a five star service. The staff are all friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. My Mum couldn't find any shoes to wear over her compression bandages and she came out of DB shoes with 3 pairs, she was so happy! Well worth a visit, 100% recommend

What a pleasure to find shoes that look good, fit properly and are comfortable. I had an hour long appointment, my feet were measured and there was a fantastic choice of shoes. The staff were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I had not been able to find any suitable shoes on the high street for a long time and it was well worth the 100 mile round trip to Rushden. Now that I know the correct size and that Wider Fit Shoes can meet my needs I will order from them on line next time.

The young lady who sold me my shoes this time was very patient and knowledgeable about the products she was selling.

I hadn't previously made an appointment but she stood in to accommodate my queries and so I left with 2 pairs of sandals.

First new pair of shoes in 3 years! I have lymphodema and haven’t been able to find a pair of shoes to fit me for 3 years. Even ones from other sites for swollen feet couldn’t come close.
I found these through a desperate internet search as my old pair were getting dangerously close to falling apart. I followed their measurements and picked a style and size that I thought might possibly work, crossed my fingers and ordered without too much hope.
They arrived very quickly. I ordered at the weekend and received them on Thursday. And they fit!!! Even the ankle strap went round my very large ankles. Having removable insoles is a great feature for me as one foot is a very different size to the other so it was easy to fit each shoe properly.
After a couple of days of wearing them I realised how great it is to have shoes that fit properly and provide support again. So I ordered some trainers and some sandals. Now I have 3 pairs of shoes that fit and are so comfortable.
They aren’t cheap but are well made and I think they will last well. The bliss of not having to squeeze my feet into ill fitting shoes and being able to change my look is certainly worth the money in my opinion. I will definitely be buying again.

They don't know the difference between width and circumference, they don't stock small sizes, their shoe fitting calculator sues circumference but not width (NOT THE SAME THING and give vastly different results in a shoe) and doesn't calculate down below about a UK 6 (even though shorter feet tend to have a higher WIDTH to length), and they don't seem to realise that the UK shoe sizes (uk 3,4 etc) have associated lengths. "Our size UK 3 is [insert measurement at the high end of size 3.5 and basically a size 4" doesn't fly. It either matches with a uk size or it doesn't. They use the sizes arbitrarily. Make your system or just give the measurements if you can't use the common systems.

So I wouldn't trust that they really know anything else about shoes since these are basic concepts that anyone who passed maths at GCSE should grasp.

Visited on monday, as, with my new orthotic, I may require a duifferent shoe type. Staff were very helpful, in finding an alternative to my current shoe. Settled on the Hugo, which seems to be able to accomodate the changes. Very pleased.

I receive time, skill and knowledge here from the staff. It is my third visit and I have been delighted every time and with every purchase (4). These are high quality shoes, in many varying styles for different purposes. Make an appointment to get the most out of your visit.

I had ordered boots for my grandson ( who has large and wide feet) . On each occasion when ordered the boots were too small. This was not the fault of the company but of us measuring.
The company not once question or declined the returns and continued with the re orders.
It is sad to say we couldn’t get a pair to fit him but again the company have given a full refund again no questions asked.
I will recommend this company to all they have great business ethics which is a rare commodity these days.
