VERY POOR SERVICE

I rent cars many times a year but t hi is time it is simply my worse experience.
Staff is unfriendly, car had a problem an needed to be towed away (service took half a day trying to explain our problem to staff who hardly understand you, you then have to get a proper invoice from the taxi driver to get reimbursed from the 100€ fare from our hotel to Catania airport in order to get a new car, I had a receipt from the cab but it was not “valid”) those were not the worse. I rented through car rentals and had paid full insurance protection in advance. They wanted me to cancel the contract and get the insurances from them. I did not see any good reason to do so, then they pretended I had a invalid driving licence to re do the contract at more than twice the price… they could have done the contract with my wife who was the second driver but refused. We needed the car and had already spent an hour to find their location outside of the airport and took the car which had engine problem 3
Days after… We forgot a pair of sun glasses in the car and faced similar experience they just did not care… We had enough of this and decided to never ever rent a car through Autovia and it’s subsidiaries. I guess you get what you pay for low price low service but here we had high price, terrible car, no service.

We had ordered a sat nav extra through Holiday Autos. At Ecovia's Catania Fontarossa desk as they did not have a sat nav they agreed a €50 upgrade to a vehicle with built in sat nav. On checking we discovered Ecovia had charged over treble the agreed amount.

The upgraded car had 65,000 km on the clock and constantly squealing brakes.

We have lodged a complaint and had a response from Ecovia saying they were charging for excess insurance which they were told we did not need, and have failed to honour the €50 agreement.

Without notifying us explicitely upfront, Autovia didn't accept our debit card for payment upon pickup. They argued that in contrast to a credit card, they wouldn't be able to collect the damage waiver from our bank account if needed. We had to buy extra insurance for 374 Euros to reduce the damage waiver to zero.
While the lady was polite in explaining and granted us an upgrade, this policy is not acceptable. Having a contract with Autovia, we would have been legally obliged to authorize damage waiver encashment, which should suffice as a hedging exposure. Other branches are in the same position, yet do accept debit cards.
The lady said she hadn't had debit card problems yet, which is not credible, since while we were arguing with her, other German tourists had the very same problem at the neighbouring counter of a different car rental company. Autovia seriously needs to change this policy unless they are willing to lose an increasing number of German customers who are successively switching to debit cards.

They scammed me into paying an additional 120€ for an insurance when I had already paid for insurance. When confronted, they said that they explained to me that I already have insurance from DiscoveryCars, but that I agreed to also buy insurance from them. That is a lie...at the desk they explicitly told me that I am not covered for damages and theft and if anything happens I will have to pay 2000€.

We came 4 ours late because the flight was cancelled and we had to rebook. After i did full payment online they refused to give the car or any help. Stay away they steal you money and destroy vacation without any remorse.

The staff was very polite and friendly. They gave us Seat Ibiza with bonus automatic transmission. The office is next to the airport. They unblock my money the same day we returned the car.

Paying 290 euro is too much because I had deb mastercard but full insurence.
I told them take more money from my card but they waited 290 euro extra for own pocket.
They didn't give me same car or simular car as I booked. I pulled in car 3 days earlier too. Personels was unpolite and stress. I can not recomend this company as far they gave me not back my 290 euro.

We reserved a car thru Expedia, Catania Airport, Sicily. Worst car rental company, avoid at any cost. They are Dishonest.

Quick, friendly service, in and out!

Although I had to pay extra for opening my contract 2 minutes after working hours of the office, my overall experience is very satisfied.
